## Most critical reviews (8 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Buggy app

*2024-11-11, version 2.0*

Poor support for the app, the daily consumption graph for the monitoring smart switch no longer displays. Shame that hardware like this can lose its usefulness due to poor support by its company.

### 1/5 — Soo close…

*2023-05-21, version 2.0*

Bought a few lights and light strip from big w in feb. got everything connected on 2.4ghz network, though once I connected my mesh network back up (with same credentials) light stripe couldn’t connect, though my light bulbs were fine.
However, the instructions in box referred to and directed me to use (note obsolete) version of this app. Also 2/3 light bulbs began blinking, soo powered off and on at wall switch, now 2/3 don’t potter on at all.
Returned to big w under the 2-year warranty- didn’t even last 6 months.
Shame

TLDR: don’t buy

### 1/5 — App needs major improving

*2022-09-04, version 2.0*

The basics of the app might be working. Though that’s where the apps functionality really stops. The apps needs to be better produced so the functions work better such as it’s energy monitoring lacks a lot of functions and does not display or sync every well at all. For price you pay for a HomeKit device I am fairly disappointed with cygnett. Maybe if the app is improved dramatically it might help user ability of the devices more.

### 1/5 — Not good enough for todays users

*2022-07-26, version 2.0*

Firstly I’d like to flag the fact that as a user of the previous Cygnett smart home app, I was extremely frustrated that they did nothing to advise users that this new and improved version had launched.

Yes this is new and improved but still has some real issues. Firstly is that the app can ONLY support 20 connected devices. Once you go past that you can add devices to Apples home app but they won’t appear in the Cygnett app - so you have no ability to do firmware upgrades or access any of the features (such as energy monitoring) that are not available in the Apple app.

Secondly there is an issue with the UI (and had been for months without resolution) that if you have two homes and have an iPhone with a notch, you cannot select a different home in the menu at the top left of screen.

This is not good enough in this day. I am switching to a better solution.

### 1/5 — Used the old app

*2022-06-07, version 2.0*

I tried over a dozen times to use this app to add a new device. It refused to find the device even though my iPad & iPhone could ‘see’ the device on my wifi.
Eventually I installed the ‘obsolete’ Cygnett Smart app and it found & installed the device within 1 minute.
Apart from that this app works fine.

### 2/5 — Unreliable app

*2022-06-13, version 2.0*

Smart plug needed a firmware update to enable HomeKit support, the next firmware update broke the power consumption monitoring graph in the app. The text to input your current rate for power ($/kwh) is white on a white background!
Still working reliably with both HomeKit and in the app for turning on/off, but additional functionality is lacking.

### 4/5 — New app pairing is much better

*2022-04-20, version 2.0*

New app is working well and pairing devices without issues. Would like to see timer based on sunrise/sunset +/- set time.

### 4/5 — Better than the old app

*2022-03-01, version 2.0*

Working as expected so far.

Could not for the life of me pair my smart plugs using the old Cygnett app. And even when it was paired in the old app, it would not register in the app the day after.

I also had issues pairing initially using this new app, but after retrying once more, it paired successfully.

Although the UI of the new app is a bit clunky, it feels much smoother. Scenes/automations within this app is working as expected as well so far.
