### 1/5 — Useless Device/app

*2022-11-23, version 1.5.2*

Can’t even get confirmation email to create and account.

### 1/5 — App really needs to up its game.

*2022-09-04, version 1.5.2*

While you can operate your basics in this app. The app overall is very clunky and not very user friendly beyond those actions. Energy monitoring stats are very poorly operated and displayed. An not always that actuary’s. The app needs a lot of work to come in line with the price you pay for the products to work with HomeKit.

### 1/5 — Avoid avoid avoid

*2022-06-13, version 1.5.2*

Fortunately we have so many options now with smart devices etc. please do not use Cygnett. The set up was so difficult and now it's telling me that there's no internet in my app even though I am watching internet TV! Please do not use.

### 1/5 — Absolutely Trash

*2022-01-31, version 1.5.2*

Do not waste your money on these products! Nothing works!

### 1/5 — 4 x power board, It’s all just a little bit broken

*2022-01-30, version 1.5.2*

I tried. It would occasionally link in with HomeKit and last all of 30 seconds. At that point it just comes up all non responsive like. So I was thinking the issue might be the firmware. The device came bundled with 2.something.something and the app shows that it should be 3.0.0. So unless it has up to date firmware, I can’t really see it working with HomeKit on an iOS 15 device. And if it can’t stay connected it can’t update. What a pickle! I’m thinking that this is the issue. I could be wrong but in any event, these folks have incompatible products sitting on shelves. I have contacted them. They have 24 hours. I’m probably going to have to inform the ACCC. They should be pre-emptively pulling these products.

### 2/5 — PLEASE UPDATE YOUR APP

*2022-01-20, version 1.5.2*

Please, please PLEASE update the app.
We know you are abandoning us after we have spent all this money on devices, as an Australian company, this deeply saddens me.
There are multiple bugs and simple features like keychain is not available. PLEASE do the right thing and give us, your paying customers what they need to use a stable system. I, like most people I read here are having issues pairing the hub with quick pair and it’s just not working. I’ve been trying for nearly an hour, thinking I’m doing something wrong, but I’m filling the video instructions and it’s still not working… after coming here… it must be the app.
Please don’t abandon us with a useless app?
Surely our ACL rights would help us in this scenario??

### 2/5 — Fair

*2022-01-20, version 1.5.2*

1 year since an update.

Now I can’t log into the app as the verification code to my phone or email NEVER ARRIVES.

What a waste of money. Never again.

Like all smart plugs, the engineers and designers making are not very smart! All smart plugs, including Cygnett’s are humungous! In this day and it is incredible that the plugs are huge! The application asks you to enter the price you pay per kilowatt. So I would have thought that at a glance, the app would tell me

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2022-01-18, version 1.5.2*

Can’t use the app without registering and App doesn’t allow me to register. Registration process requires a validation code to be sent to your email. Have tried getting the validation code resent a number of times but it never arrives so can’t proceed with registration. Will see if there are any other “compatible” apps that I can use instead, otherwise I can’t use the product so will be returned.

### 1/5 — Can’t connect to wifi, can’t update devices. Useless app.

*2022-01-13, version 1.5.2*

Can’t connect to wifi, can’t update devices. Useless app.

### 1/5 — Crappy App for Apple

*2021-12-29, version 1.5.2*

Cannot “pair” to lightbulbs (I bought 3) with the app. This is just plain silly, because I can’t sync this with google home.

Apple HomeKit works fine.

### 2/5 — HomeKit support lacking

*2021-12-13, version 1.5.2*

Support for HomeKit needs to be significantly better. The first line of the description is that you update your app regularly. It’s been over a year and there has been no reply’s to comments.

What this app really needs is the ability to sync scenes with HomeKit. Otherwise the IR remote is useless. Not to mention the doesn’t remember where you are.

If I turn on my tv, then pick up the app 2 minutes later to adjust the volume or change the channel I have to navigate all the way back to the remote which is about 5 clicks.

Please update the app.

Please make syncing scenes with HomeKit a thing so it’s easy to “hey Siri, turn on the AC” or “the tv” or “mute”.
If Philips Hue can sync scenes, you can too.

I would 100% buy more of these products if this feature was enabled. Would make all of the difference.

### 1/5 — Abysmal, truely abysmal

*2021-12-09, version 1.5.2*

Will not pair

### 1/5 — Can’t update Firmware

*2021-11-30, version 1.5.2*

So I’m fed up with the constant disconnects from HomeKit and then find I am a full version behind with firmware.

Attempt to connect the power board to the cr-app and there’s zero way I can get it to connect. None. Nada.

So I’ve bought hardware that has obsoleted itself.

Not. Happy. Jan.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t even work

*2021-11-28, version 1.5.2*

Can’t even get a verification code to register new account. Absolutely ridiculous.

Says there might be a delay and wait 3 minutes. Waited 10min and still nothing

### 1/5 — This is a dead product

*2021-11-13, version 1.5.2*

Don’t waste your money, no updates for a long time, sensors that use the battery up in a few days.

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2021-10-15, version 1.5.2*

Seriously their app is horrible to use. Can’t even use the devices without registering cygnett account in their app and their password reset function doesn’t even work.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work. Can’t register or login

*2021-09-25, version 1.5.2*

If anyone else finds this review. You can still setup and control the smart light bulb with the Apple home app by scanning the QR code on the bulb and pairing. I assume this works for other Cygnett products too.

App is garbage. Won’t buy this brand again

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nightmare

*2025-11-12, version 1.5.2*

Changed my router, so naturally, needed to set the light up again! Oh what fun! Just gave up after what was probably almost an hour!

### 1/5 — Garbage app n bulbs

*2024-08-01, version 1.5.2*

The blurb says app is updated regularly. It’s been 3 years. These products are sub sub standard. Discovery of devices rarely works and loses permanent registration within the Home app.
No wonder the bulbs were being sold dirt cheap at Harvey Norman in AU. Reject products

### 1/5 — Bad toy

*2024-02-20, version 1.5.2*

Why can’t you have a minus when you do star ratings it does not deserve one star. It does deserve a -10 stars. !!

### 1/5 — It works but you can’t schedule the light to change colour?

*2024-01-23, version 1.5.2*

Night shift mode would make it alright.
My partner couldn’t get it to work.

### 1/5 — Cygnett should be ashamed of themselves

*2023-08-31, version 1.5.2*

This app has single-handedly destroyed my opinion of this brand. That they would sign off on this complete piece of garbage is a condemnation to their level of care, that I simply can’t believe.

### 1/5 — Utter waste of time

*2023-06-25, version 1.5.2*

Spent the best part of 30 mins trying to connect to one of their not so ‘smart’ lightbulbs. Could not detect my wifi (2.4ghz) connection at all, what a joke.
This was only after getting all of your personal details they somehow needed, and making yet another new account for yet another service.
I would give 0 stars if possible.

### 1/5 — Proper GARBAGE

*2023-04-14, version 1.5.2*

Like many others here, I have been stung by Cygnett’s products. They simply do not work. I think it is scandalous that they are still on the market to be purchased by unsuspecting consumers. Absolute JUNK. They are a waste of time and money. Avoid them at all cost.

### 1/5 — Still not fixed

*2023-03-28, version 1.5.2*

Years later and all the old reviews still hold true. The developer has given up on their customers.

### 1/5 — Can’t get a code

*2023-01-20, version 1.5.2*

Tried quite a few times to get a code sent to my email but was never sent tried for over a week but still nothing. Sending this annoying so called smart bulb back to shop

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2023-01-04, version 1.5.2*

I bought Wifi LED lights from Big W and did try to connect through the app several times and tried all the trouble shooting. Unfortunately wasted time and money. Returned the item. Very poor app functionality and would not recommend this to anyone.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — For those with trouble pairing with 2.4Ghz wifi

*2022-01-23, version 1.5.2*

BEFORE taping down your LED strip (or globe), quick pair the device outside of the wifi’s 5GHz range (this is closer to the wifi router), but still in the 2.4GHz range (this is further from the router). This point could be in an outer room or even outside the house (eg in driveway, in which case you may need an extension cord). After pairing, you can then place/stick the LED at its final location. I wouldn’t even know how to switch between 5GHz and 2.4GHz on the router itself. Hope this saves you a lot of grief and time :)

### 5/5 — Really easy to use, love it

*2021-12-16, version 1.5.2*

Easy to set up took about 5 mins, works really well with Siri. Great light

### 5/5 — Worked for me

*2021-12-02, version 1.5.2*

After reading the reviews I thought I’d bought a dud product, I installed and paired within seconds using apple home app as the pairing device and it worked, I now have my outside lights on a WiFi timer, cool !

### 5/5 — Works as expected

*2021-01-02, version 1.5.2*

I’m not sure about before but it seems to work for me

### 5/5 — Works perfectly

*2020-04-15*

Had no problems at all connecting to my devices. Great app!

### 4/5 — Works OK

*2021-08-14, version 1.5.2*

The UI may be rough, but the app and the products do in fact work. I use a number of power plugs and an LED lights strip as a TV backlight for many months now. No issues whatsoever.

### 3/5 — Great products - lousy app

*2021-04-26, version 1.5.2*

Excellent products that work well across Siri, Alexa & Google, however, the app is terrible. Thankfully, you can bypass this app and make use of the devices in the HomeApp.

As a request, it would be great to have the option to change the background picture on the app or offer a plain coloured background. The picture of a white heterosexual family really doesn’t represent the wider community nowadays.

### 3/5 — Clunky

*2021-02-06, version 1.5.2*

It works but some controls need improvements. The intensity sliders are hard to position; would be nice to be able to input the numeric level by typing. Also a feature to sync multiple lights on the same patters is missing.
Some colors are not very bright. Is it a software issue or a hardware one?

### 3/5 — Working but

*2020-12-31, version 1.5.2*

Working but still need more polish. UI seems not adapting to larger screen, you will get bigger keyboard. Those are details. Also have to say, brilliant idea combining IR with the hub. But is it possible to integrate the IR control with Home app? Or would it be better to have a simple gadget to control the device what is used most often daily.

### 3/5 — User interface feels lacking

*2020-06-26*

This app doesn't feel like a usual iOS app at all. Lacks a pleasant look and feel, and doesn't seem to be overly intuitive. Perhaps some better guidance explanations could be added into the user interface.
Also why is location access required to input the ssid of the router? Surely there could be an option to simply be typed as user input.
