登録販売者（とうろくはんばいしゃ）とは、2009年の規制改革による改正薬事法（現：医薬品、医療機器等の品質、有効性及び安全性の確保等に関する法律）にて新設された、一般用医薬品販売の資格です。国が定める法により特定業務が認められているので、資格区分は国家資格となります。文部科学省が発行する国家資格一覧には、「都道府県が試験を行う国家資格[2]」として記載されていますが、書籍等では見解がわかれているのも現実です。 改正薬事法の中に販売制度として一般用医薬品の販売に従事する者（法4条5項の1、法36条8項、法36条9項）と位置づけされており、この資格を得るには、資質の確認（法36条8）のため都道府県知事が厚生労働省令で定めるところにより行う試験（規則159条関連）に合格する必要があります。受験資格は、2015年4月1日から改正により、学歴・実務経験は不要となったが合格後は販売従事登録後、２年間の実務実績が必要となりその後、正規の登録販売者となります。
