## What is Daft Music?

Daft Music is a native Apple Music player for Mac and iPhone, designed to make your library, radio, and playlists feel fast, clear, and enjoyable.

The newest addition is The Mixtape: a collection of hand-picked shows and mixes from real DJs, starting with Berlin's Matas, with more curators joining regularly. It's a new way to discover music inside Daft Music, alongside everything Apple Music already offers.

Everything else you'd expect is here too. Daft Music is fast and responsive even with large libraries, scrobbles to Last.fm automatically, and lets you import and sync playlists from Spotify and Tidal. Tune into radio stations from around the world, with Shazam-powered song identification built right in. The interface feels native to both macOS and iOS, and the app is private by design, with no tracking and no data collection.

Simple. Beautiful. Fast. This is how Apple Music should feel.

Featured by Apple as one of the "Apps We Love." Praised by MacStories as "a breath of fresh air."

An Apple Music subscription is required. Daft Music is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.

Daft Music is a third-party music player. Apple, the Apple logo, and Apple Music are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-08-30*

I use Daft Music a lot! The interface and the features are amazing and it keeps getting better!

### 5/5 — Great and getting better.

*2026-08-27*

Daft started out as a cool alternative to the standard Apple Music app - for my use case, a more logical approach to listening and library management without a lot of the clutter. It continues to grow and the dev adds new features while also remaining responsive to feedback. It’s clear that Daft is made by someone who considers and cares about the way we listen and wants to improve it. Daft has become my daily music app and it’s really rad that for all its charms it continues to improve. Worth checking out and — at least for me — the modest annual sub.

### 5/5 — Better than Apple Music

*2026-08-13*

I’ve been a longtime Apple Music user with a lot of playlists. I’ve tried a lot of other players, but no one matches Daft Music’s approach which is clean, fast, and consistent. Honestly, it’s replaced Apple Music’s default app, especially with how it handles radio so easily too.

Daft Music is my go to everyday on both Mac and iOS. The developer is also really responsive. This is one subscription that I’ll never question renewing. I can’t recommend it enough!

### 5/5 — A relief from Apple Music spam

*2026-08-04*

I was looking for a player that would not push Apple’s latest garbage on me each time I tried to listen to music. Apple Music made me click 4 times to get to my music. This player solves that problem; it has a really clean interface.

### 5/5 — Lsrtk

*2026-07-20*

Most beautiful music App! Designer put so much effort into details. Love it!

### 5/5 — Unreal!

*2026-07-17*

Beyond impressed with the dev’s work here, and how seamlessly it has transferred over from the Mac version of the app. Please please support the dev, it’s well worth it. Never going back!

### 5/5 — Better Frontend than Apple Music

*2026-06-06*

I’ve been using Apple Music since it was called iTunes, and that was approximately the last era in which Apple gave it some real love and care. Daft Music brings back that level of attention to detail in the music listening experience!

Honestly the only thing I’d change is improving two-way sync between libraries. But that’s minor compared to the improved search capability, responsiveness, and better quality home screen vs Apple Music.

### 4/5 — Beautiful Interface, Lacking Features

*2026-06-05*

For casual listening this beats the base music app every day, but for specific use cases likefull screen artwork or a miniplayer, or the more advanced AI features Apple Music remains on my dock next to Daft

### 5/5 — Very good music app!

*2026-01-14*

With its clean and thoughtful design, this has completely replaced the Apple Music app for me. The integrated radio station streaming is also great; it’s nice being able to switch between live radio and Apple Music streaming throughout the day. Well done.
