And bad development *2025-07-27, version 2.4* The Daikin Comfort app is a constant source of frustration and needs a complete rebuild. The most critical issue: it logs me out almost every time I use it — even though auto-login is enabled and both my phone and the unit are on the same Wi-Fi network. This makes using the app a daily hassle and defeats the purpose of remote access. Scheduling is another weak point. It’s clunky and poorly designed — no way to globalize settings or copy schedules from day to day, which makes even simple setups time-consuming. There’s also no in-app support, and the app rarely receives updates. And Daikin points us to retailers to resolve those. While this is their own app!! What would a retailer do?!? For a major brand like Daikin, that’s disappointing. They really need to invest in this app — not just to fix stability, but also to add essential features like push notifications, better control over vent position, smarter scheduling, and a more polished user experience overall. Right now, the app simply doesn’t match the quality of Daikin’s hardware. ### 1/5 — The worst possible investment a waste of money *2025-05-20, version 2.4* I have had the wifi adapter devices for 4 years and for the 6-9 months that it worked it was great to the tune of $800 for two adapters. Then depending on power outages or other things that happen requiring resets of internet I have tracked the failure of the success to connect to my phone for monitoring. It’s like it never works correctly. Yesterday I spent 3 hours trying to reset one of the AC adapters and it never worked. One adapter works but for some reason you cannot connect another device in the app. So now I am rebooting everything including the app. And trying to see what happens. Oh and by the way you can’t find any FAQs online or even calling leads you down a rabbit hole of waiting for hours only to find that you need to call someone else. It’s just not worth it! So frustrating. ### 1/5 — As bad as it gets *2025-04-12, version 2.4* I am currently abroad and trying to control my units from the other side of the world. The Daikin units itself were expensive and so were the WiFi units. Today when I woke up the whole house was set to wrong temperatures even though I have deleted all scheduling in their terrible app days earlier. I have a smart home with 150 things, everything works great except the terrible Daikin app. The app has 1.4 in reviews on the App Store. Is it that much to ask for that it does simple things of setting the right temp at the right time as it was advertised to do? You remove a schedule in their app, and it confirms you do so but still it’s there, lingering and invisible to the user. A quick search and I find thousands of other users with the exact same problem our installer said he stopped working with Daikin since their units and support is useless. If they cared they would have spent a minute on fixing the bugs. DKN cloud is also extremely problematic and drops connections constantly. ### 1/5 — Keeps logging me out. So I reconnected it and it worked again for a year and then it disconnected. Now in the third year, I cannot connect to the Wi-Fi at all despite numerous attempts. This issue renders your account useless. Seems like a very simple fix. The other app ‘Daiken One Home’ has this feature but does not support my controller. Please either support password help. It doesn’t function at all half the time, and when it does, you have to login “out of home,” and send the control signals through Daikin’s cloud service because the app doesn’t function locally. The auto login function doesn’t work, making it even more frustrating. I have had to reinitialize the app multiple times per month for it to work at all. It silently fails. It fails loudly. It fails in every way possible. The good news is that the Wi-Fi dongles that make Daikin units available on your network can be interacted with directly with a straightforward API. There are tools out there, including open source ones, that let you control your system reliably. But it’s not easy to set up and you have to be pretty technical. It’s a disgrace that Daikin thinks that this app offers an acceptable customer experience. Also the servers that respond for their out of home are very slow which compounds the problem. Finally found a tech that walked me through set-up. Gary was awesome! He go us all good to go. We figured out that we needed to connect through 2.4g Not out 5g and we were trying to connect with Net gear which I think has probably 5g or something that wasn’t compatible to our adaptors. Gary helped us through many calls to daikin and we did it. One major clue is dont finalize password until all units are on your app Everything is working the way it should. Help? ### 3/5 — It is what it is. *2022-03-11* The app works reliably for me, but as others have noted is missing settings that the Emura heads have. These aren’t a big deal for me; I’m not going to use a remote control like some kind of 20th century caveman. Settings also do not sync with the remotes. I have a large ducted unit connected to the same heat pump as the emuras, that uses a different Wi-Fi adapter and a different app. If you mostly run a schedule this again isn’t a huge deal. If you have a big, old house with no ducts, the daikin system is still the best game in town, but software is not their core competency. There is a community developed smartthings adapter that seems to work well, though I haven’t done anything fancy with it. 2022 update: the SmartThings interface still works, it’s unauthenticated and using port 80 on the local address, so it’s unclear why they disabled local control in the app because it’s still available on the units. Wouldn’t be hard to write a new app; I’m working on SmartThings rules automating switching between my nest controlled furnace and the heat pump based on available solar input and outside temp. ### 3/5 — Unable to use “in home” mode *2022-01-30, version 2.0* App requires me to use “not at home” mode even when on the same wi-fi network as the unit. This is inconvenient but still usable. You’re not even able to adjust fan speed. The wifi module was not included and pricey to add. I wish they would improve this.
