In doing so it has eliminated a ton of functionality from the Daily Dharma app itself, including the ability to look at past days, see popular daily Dharmas, etc. Depressing to see a cash grab like this that makes things actively worse from a Buddhist org. I'd pay something reasonable for the old app, which should've been the move. ### 1/5 — Please fix website *2022-11-18, version 1.0* Please fix your website. Pages take forever to load. ### 2/5 — Growing Greed *2025-10-01* Used to enjoy Daily Dharma, then they forced an update which erased all saved favorites. Now complete quotes can only be viewed with a subscription. Seems money is more important than sharing a few morsels. Deleted app, I will forge my own path. **Developer response:** Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. To your first point, we're happy to let you know that the quote-saving feature has been restored. In the latest version of the app, you can once again view previous Daily Dharma quotes and save your favorites. We also understand your frustration around some content being behind a paywall. As a nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of our readers to sustain our work. That said, the recent update has actually allowed us to expand the amount of free content available on the app, including rotating articles and Dharma Talks, all of our podcasts, Buddhism for Beginners resources, and more. We hope you’ll explore and find value in these offerings. ### 2/5 — Update disappointment *2024-09-30, version 2.0* The loss of the daily dharma favorites as well as the ability to scroll back for previous daily dharma quotes is very disappointing. I’m likely to not use the app much anymore. ### 2/5 — Lost wisdom *2024-09-12, version 2.0* I’m very disappointed that in updating the app I lost years of bookmarked Daily Dharmas. It was so lovely to be able to reflect back on the quotes that were most meaningful. This is a lesson in impermanence, but I still wish all the prior wisdom was still available. ### 2/5 — Bad update *2024-08-30, version 2.0* This update really convoluted things, as well as not being able to conveniently scroll through past days. I doubt I will use this any longer. ### 2/5 — App needs bug fixes *2024-05-18, version 1.0.1* While I enjoy the app’s quotes, the app itself needs bug fixes. 1) FAVORITE QUOTES: The app stops saving favorite quotes after you have saved about 20 of them. 2) DAILY REMINDER: If you ever turn on the daily reminder feature, it stays on, even if you turn it off in the app settings menu. Also, when the reminder activates, the system notification banner shows old quotes —sometimes the same quote every day— instead of the current day’s quote. 3) NO IMPORT/EXPORT: There’s no import/export feature for your favorite quotes. So if you ever have to delete the app and reinstall, you’ve lost all your favorites. ### 3/5 — Limited selection *2025-02-22, version 2.2* The app shows a limited selection of curated material taken from the magazine, which can only be read in the browser. Deleted app. Update: The app moderators replied directly to this review and explained that they have expanded the availability of non-subscription content. I respect their individualized reply and I will reinstall the app to explore what is available.
