### 3/5 — Idea is nice

*2026-07-23*

While the idea is nice - if I set to starter, I still get words from HSK4.

### 1/5 — Misleading Ads

*2026-07-08, version 1.55.0*

Should just say it’s a paid subscription to set expectation and not waste time.

### 1/5 — No customer support, don't even bother.

*2026-07-08*

I saw this on Instagram and decided to give it a shot. It was good at first until I switched to Android. They told me that I would have to pay again to access what I had already paid for. Naturally, I contacted them via email. There was no response after a week. I emailed again, but still no response.
A waste of £30; it's just a money grab, and they don't care about you or your Mandarin learning journey. I've also noticed that they don't even reply to App Store or Play Store reviews.

### 3/5 — First impressions feel off

*2026-07-05, version 1.54.0*

Tapping “learned” will sometimes skip the next card. Definition of 为 in the lock screen seems to reference the traditional character even though the app is set on simplified. All this small paper cuts don’t motivate me to pay for the yearly subscription. There are free apps that are less buggy that help with spaced repetition.

### 1/5 — Not usable

*2026-07-01*

Not useable without purchasing paid subscription, misleading.

### 1/5 — pay to use

*2026-06-30*

saw this on insta bc it looked interesting and the ui is amazing and the concept is great but you have to pay to use it, 0 free features

### 1/5 — No free option

*2026-06-29*

Takes your email then says pay up. Waste of time. Who’s paying 30 quid for one year

### 2/5 — Keeps on showing words already marked as “learned”, wasting time

*2026-06-29*

See title

### 1/5 — Payment

*2026-06-23*

It should already mentioned it’s paid

### 3/5 — Unreasonable price

*2026-06-19, version 1.46.0*

Something this simple should not be $5 a month. Cool concept, but not worth it unless you’re incapable of making yourself study. At least add a free tier with a limited # of words/汉子 per day.

### 1/5 — To expensive

*2026-06-18, version 1.46.0*

Make it free

### 1/5 — Tricked

*2026-06-18, version 1.46.0*

Spent 10 minutes filling things out just to be forced into a subscription page.

### 1/5 — $$ Subscription Required

*2026-06-17, version 1.46.0*

I was advertised this on TikTok being a free app to use. Whilst making my plans with the app, I felt like I was ready to get into this learning but instead, I was asked to rate the app even before starting anything, and then I was smacked in the face with a payment request with a 3 day trial. Really saddening.

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2026-06-16, version 1.46.0*

app forces you to leave a rating before even using the app, and then once you create an account you’re offered a 3 day free trial only before committing to $50 per year.

### 1/5 — forces you to get free trial

*2026-06-16, version 1.46.0*

all i wanted was the lockscreen widget— why am i forced to create an account and then forced to get the free trial? no thanks. uninstalled.

### 1/5 — Zero Value for your money

*2026-06-15, version 1.46.0*

They bait you to sign up, leave a review, curate your plan, and all without revealing until the end it costs $30/year. On top of the fact there's no free version. Might as well have made this a paid app but this just seems like another ai vibe-coded side hustle app trying to generate subscription revenue.

### 1/5 — Aucune version gratuite dispo

*2026-06-14*

Payant à 100% et avec abonnement. Il faudrais une version gratuite avec moins de mots par exemple et une version payante achat unique

### 1/5 — Annoying

*2026-06-13, version 1.46.0*

Literally makes you set up your profile all just to have you pay for it before you can even try it. Annoying

### 1/5 — The app doesn't work

*2026-07-30, version 1.65.0*

The application doesn't work

### 1/5 — Not free!

*2026-07-25, version 1.64.0*

High subscription fee which they don’t advise until after you have signed up.

### 1/5 — its paid bru

*2026-07-21*

### 1/5 — Baited into downloading

*2026-07-17, version 1.61.0*

I’ve been looking for ways to practice Mandarin after finishing school years ago. They had a pretty enticing ad pop up on social media and I thought hey it couldn’t hurt. They then take you through this really nice UI flow of choosing your learning level, plan, and everything. The problem is that before you even practice/learn your first word, you hit a paywall… and NOWHERE in the advertisement is that disclosed. Sure it’s disclosed per App Store policies, but most people would assume it’s for premium/supplementary features, not basic, bare minimum usability.

TLDR: got my immediate download, then immediate deletion

### 1/5 — Predatory technique to make you pay

*2026-07-17, version 1.61.0*

You made go through all the flow then at the very end tell me that payment is mandatory. By that point you already harvested my email and device details…

If i knew I had to pay a subscription I would’ve never downloaded it

### 1/5 — Too many questions before finding the paywall

*2026-07-13*

Too many questions before finding the paywall. Wish it were more upfront or gave the demo use sooner so I could quickly decide if I want to pay. This just felt like it’s trying to pressure u to stay and pay a large fee for an app.

### 5/5 — Best Chinese learning app

*2026-04-04*

The lock screen feature is really helpful and I feel like the database of words used is good, I like how you can tailor the topics shown

### 5/5 — great concept

*2026-03-23*

love the idea of learning chinese through the lock screen !
super easy to stay consistent

### 5/5 — Genuinely seeing results with my Chinese

*2026-03-18, version 1.18.0*

If you want to speak Chinese conversationally in modern world 2026 and be able to travel around China recognizing everyday words, Daily Hanzi is the app to learn Chinese. I have tried other apps like Duolingo and Busuu but felt extremely discouraged with my progress. Keep up the good work, and thank you for making an effective Chinese language learning app!!!

### 5/5 — Looking forward to it!

*2026-02-20, version 1.7.1*

Great idea and looks like a great app! Looking forward to daily Hanzi reminders. Ganxie Nimen

### 5/5 — Already more immersive

*2026-02-10, version 1.7.0*

I am enjoying the app so far! It is a great reminder to actually take time, even a minute or two, to review or learn a new word. I would really like it if you could add the voice dictation for the sentences so it reads aloud the example sentences provided. I would also enjoy if you could add the ability to select words in the example sentences to define and delve further. I can’t wait to see how this app grows. I would love to see further reading and learning features for everyday conversations and signs that you would normally see and hear in China. Keep up the amazing work on this app!
