### 4/5 — Great App, Could Use Minor Improvements

*2026-06-07, version 2.8.4*

I moved over from another app and love Everlog. I mainly wanted better Apple Pencil integration and while it’s better than others, it could use some improvements. Same for default journal. I can never tell what the app will select as journal for the entry.

Overall, this is a really polished app and has good privacy posture, recommended!

### 3/5 — The app gets slow

*2026-04-26*

everytime I add more than 3 pictures on each journal the app gets really slow and it significantly bothers me to write any texts. this is serious

### 4/5 — Fantastic app, clean design

*2026-04-09, version 2.8.1*

This app is a breath of fresh air when most apps are full of bloat. Some improvements the maker can consider:

1. A better toolbar on the iPad. The current toolbar overlaps the entries feed on the left and makes it finicky to interact with.

2. Make it easier to scan the months and dates in the main view. It is hard to read the month / date in the feed when scrolling quickly. I.e it is not glanceable.

### 2/5 — Time

*2026-04-04, version 2.8*

Doesn't seem to be a way to get rid of the time. It's a dealbreaker for me so I'm deleting it. Too bad. Looked nice otherwise.

Edit: Tried that. Doesn't work.

### 3/5 — Good with issues

*2026-02-22*

I've really enjoyed this app and I have stuck with it for a lot longer than I have many similar applications. I even bought the lifetime premium subscription. But the annoyances it has are wearing on me. For example, on the macOS app, I can't write entries longer than five or so paragraphs, some right-click operations don't work correctly (like correcting spelling mistakes) and sometimes when I copy content from it, it's jumbled in extremely odd ways.

The iOS also has issues. Sometimes it will freeze completely upon launch and other times it will let me type, but the characters will lag behind by nearly seconds. Normally, I might blame my phone's hardware, but I have a fairly new device and I haven't experienced these issues with other applications.

It would also be nice if it supported GitHub’s flavor of Markdown and automatic exports to cloud services or GitHub repositories.

Things I like about it:

- It’s a beautiful interface/UX and a joy to use (when it doesn’t have issues).
- Lots of neat features like journal entry prompts, tags, image support, weather info, location info, etc.
- Passcode protected.
- Supports configurable automatic and manual backups.
- Daily writing goals and notifications for previous days.
- Templates.

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback.. I’m really glad you’ve enjoyed the app overall, and I’m sorry the performance issues have been getting in the way.

I’m actively working on making Everlog faster and more reliable on both macOS and iOS, so this kind of report is really helpful.

Also, Everlog does support different Markdown flavors. You can change that in Settings → General → Editor if you want to use standard Markdown.

### 5/5 — Very nice

*2026-01-03, version 2.7.10*

Easy on the eyes, and just the right amount of personalization. Imported data from a previous app and was ready to go.

### 4/5 — Great markdown diary

*2025-11-29, version 2.7.9*

I was using Five Minute Journal but wasn’t comfortable with the cloud sync. I tried Obsidian but decided to go with Everlog since I’m comfortable with Markdown. It’s great reinforcement to see that I’ve completed a writing goal for the day. I wish it had a habit tracking feature to see things over time. The “on this day” feature showcases an entry from that day either 3,6,9, or 12 months ago. It’s a great app, but some room for improvement to make it better.

### 2/5 — My review

*2025-11-27, version 2.7.9*

I used to really like this app, until all my entries got deleted without a chance to recover them.

### 5/5 — ITS RLY GOOD AND CUTE

*2025-11-25, version 2.7.8*

Best journal logging kinda app. Literally I tested sm apps but this ones aesthetic and it’s not a pay to get app!! Like idk how to explain it but it’s rly nice and ur logs are displayed chronological and u get kinda like a thumbnail to remember what u wrote for each log (you have to get the app to know what i mean!). U can change the colours of the app and the format of the text. U CAN INSERT PICTURES, seriously none of the other apps let u do that, this ones literally the best. Btw im using this to track habits and stuff like that every day, so if u wanna do that or similar, and want it to look pretty and organised GET THIS APP!! c:

### 2/5 — My review

*2025-11-12, version 2.7.7*

I used to really like this app, until all my entries got deleted without a chance to recover them.

### 5/5 — INCRIVEL

*2025-10-31*

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2025-10-22, version 2.7.5*

I’ve been using this app for over a year at this point, and have over 100,000 words in it. It’s by far my favorite journal app that I’ve used. The most helpful features of that being that it’s cross-platform, and that it uses markdown. I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for a journal app to use!

Bonus:
It looks beautiful with liquid glass!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-09-20, version 2.7.1*

Love the new version. The custom promos via Apple Intelligence are a great edition.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2025-09-17, version 2.7.2*

I’ve used many different journaling apps, but Everlog is the one that I like the most. I love how clean and minimal the UI is, I love that I can change fonts and there’s full markdown support. Beautiful app.

One thing I’d love to see is the ability to insert fitness data from apple health. This would be useful for those who have a fitness journal.

### 3/5 — App feels sluggish when writing long texts

*2025-09-16, version 2.7*

The app becomes slow and sometimes unresponsive when inputing and editing long texts, and this issue exists on all the platforms I’m using, which means iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Aside from this issue, it’s a really neat and perfect journaling app, but this issue could nearly be a dealbreaker for me.

### 5/5 — New to journaling

*2025-08-17, version 2.6.11*

For years I have dipped in and out of journaling, only last a few weeks. I was chatting with my husband and said I think what I need is a few books to journal different things like, about me, work, food, family etc. The discussion continued. Hey presto the next day he said - I found it! He was not wrong. There appears to be no stopping me now. I love that it is across may platforms so I can journal anywhere, at work, on the train, whilst waiting for an appointment etc etc It might seam minor to some but I have been journaling for 68 days - achievement in my eyes, I have 2 journals and I love that I will never put the book in a draw and forget about it :-)

### 5/5 — Great Journal App

*2025-07-28, version 2.6.11*

Very easy to use and nice clean UI. Great value. I’m glad I chose to go with this journalling app.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-07-12, version 2.6.9*

An unfussy journal and diary option.Well designed and seamless to keep track of (in my case) where the week has gone ? and what I’ve been up to with my time ?I had cause to contact the developer, not due to an issue, just for some advise, The response was immediate and dealt with the slight issue I was having.Which indicates excellent customer support.

### 5/5 — Keeps getting better

*2025-07-05, version 2.6.9*

A solid journaling app that works both on desktop and mobile. Regular updates and the developer is good at communication.

Everything you need from Day One and nothing you don’t. Pay once and its yours for life.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Loses data

*2025-12-24, version 2.7.10*

Crashes and loses entries. It’s 2025 and you can’t auto save an entry as I’m writing? Really?

### 1/5 — Works well

*2024-12-15, version 2.5.5*

Works well on Mac. Works better on Iphone. Has its problems, (don’t use it as a knowledge base) better to use it for managing checklists and making short journal entries.

### 1/5 — Price discrepancy / non-responsive dev.

*2024-12-09, version 2.5.5*

I purchased an annual subscription during the Black Friday sale which offered a discount on the app. During the checkout process, when selecting which type of subscription you'd like, the wording of the offer stated: "try for free for 1 year, then $$.$$p/ year", creating a discrepancy between the offered discount promoted on the dev's recent Reddit post on r/macapps vs. the actual wording when selecting the subscription type. I did attempt to let the dev know via their Reddit post which has gone ignored. As such, I've chosen to not trust this dev moving forward.

### 1/5 — Thief

*2024-12-01, version 2.5.5*

They propose a 1 year trial for free then 1 year subscription. However, they charged me 12.99$. I cancelled my subscription in less than a minute. Never again.

### 1/5 — Great app, but glitchy

*2024-09-22, version 2.5*

Every time I try to upload videos, I get an error saying the attachment not synced…blah, blah, blah. I love the app, just needs an update to fix the bug.

**update**

I'm still having issues uploading videos and pictures to my journal entries. Some videos are not loading, and then when I try to fix the issue, the app crashes! Again, it's an awesome app, but it's super glitchy!

### 1/5 — L’application ne fonctionne plus

*2024-06-15*

Depuis quelques jours, l’application ne fonctionne plus malgré la mise à jour. Écran noir avec le logo en fond !

### 1/5 — No Encryption

*2023-01-28, version 2.1.8*

No privacy.

### 1/5 — Can’t use Apple Pencil

*2023-01-23, version 2.1.6*

I have a Mini and use pencil to write because typing is not easy. If I knew this app doesn’t support Apple Pencil, I would not have purchased this app.

### 1/5 — loved until app broke

*2022-10-20, version 2.1*

Loved the app and then it stopped opening for me. uninstalled at least 5 times and it still doesn't open. Payed for premium because i was loving it but the app will NOT open! So dissapointed. :(

### 1/5 — App not responding

*2022-07-17, version 1.8.5*

I really enjoyed this app to start with, however recently clicking to open the app on a Mac has resulted in a "Core Data Error" alert showing up. I tried updating the app however now it shows as "Application not responding." Would really appreciate this issue being fixed soon.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — What Day One used to be

*2026-07-23*

This app has replaced Day One for me to capture key moments and thoughts and be able to look back on them (human memory is terrible!) Excellent import from Day One nothing was missed (including images, locations etc.) and also export to plain text (with linked attachments) is very good too. Well designed, enjoyable to use and affordable either by subscription or single lifetime purchase. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Géniale

*2026-07-16*

### 5/5 — Great Journal app

*2026-06-24, version 2.8.4*

I love this app for my daily diary. Very easy to use with a streamlined UI. Easy to add media to add detail and richness to your entries. Syncs perfectly between devices.

### 5/5 — I don’t miss DayOne at all

*2026-05-04, version 2.8.2*

Imported almost 10 years of DayOne entries with no issues. The customizations available are great. Amazing range of import options. The lifetime purchase option supports Family Sharing! I am happy - especially happy to support an indy developer!

### 5/5 — Best journal option

*2026-04-30, version 2.8.2*

I’ve used a few, including Day One. This one of way to use, powerful, and priced right. If you like Day One, but are open to something else, give it a try.

### 5/5 — Great Journaling App

*2026-04-25, version 2.8.1*

I thought I’d already reviewed this app….but, I guess I haven’t. In Short - A great Journaling app. My main “critique” used to be not being able to export a PDF….but, they fixed that a while back. The app also looks great. No complaints whatsoever.

### 5/5 — Everything that you need

*2026-04-24, version 2.8.1*

This is a great app. I was using DayOne but got fed up with the additional bloat and AI features. Also that all my information is on their servers. Sync to iCloud feels better to me. Two issues.
1. If I make a journal entry without text e.g. I just share a photo to the app, it does not seem possible to add text later
2. I dont find it easy to navigate between journal entries. I would like to see one entry in the main window and be able to step forward and backwards.
Overall, for less than the cost of Day One for a year, I have a perpetual licence for an app that does everything I want. Kudos!

### 5/5 — The place I go to think and feel

*2026-03-14*

I bought Everlog a couple of years ago and I realized recently that it has become the first thing I open when I’m feeling something really big. I open up a big empty window and I just write everything out I’m feeling and I always feel like a new person at the end of that writing. The core UX is very well done and works and syncs reliably across all my devices. The macOS app has a few small things that bug me, but I’m guessing those are annoyances in modern macOS development instead of missing polish done by this developer. I think if more people sat down and wrote their feelings, this would be a better world to live in.

### 5/5 — A Great App That’s Always Getting Better

*2026-02-04, version 2.7.11*

An amazing journaling app that keeps getting better with updates. The recent addition of incremental backups is a huge upgrade for those of us with multiple journals and lots of attachments. Well worth the continued investment!

### 5/5 — Superb Journal and diary

*2026-01-05, version 2.7.10*

Enables entries to be created to a calendar. Setting up each entry to a preset template or your own. Sensible set of writing tools common today plus speech to text, that I love as a lazy typist. It certainly helping me keep better records to date. And feels sustainable.

Two areas that I have noted that would improve my enjoyment of the app.

The first is that photos and files can be added, but sit at the top of the entry. I’d prefer them to be next to the relevant section of text.

Second is being able to easily interact with my normal calendar schedule - in my case Apple calendar . From what I can tell there is a hyperlink style option or a copy and paste. Minor but would be a nice feature to keep my schedule and journal in one place.
