It no longer the ESV. Don’t know what version it is now. Missing also is the option to have it read to you. Just not as good as it was. **Developer response:** This daily office lectionary App that you purchased never had ESV. It makes it incredibly easy to access the daily offices. When I had a problem with a program glitch Jim Coates responded personally even though he was out of the country. He also let me know when he had fixed and updated the app. That is service above and beyond! ### 5/5 — Rock solid and oh so portable *2018-12-12* Okay - I like best saying the Daily Office with a prayer book and a Bible on my lap. But one can't carry these volumes anywhere and everywhere, so, when I'm on the road, out comes my iPhone and its lectionary. I keep a Canadian Book of Alternative Services in the iPhone, too (via Dropbox) so I can access Canticles, versicles and responses, and the ECUSA Psalter, which is more conducive to worship than are the psalms in the NKJV or NRSV - but in a pinch the Lectionary App is quite sufficient. And it's been utterly stable, until 2018, when Advent crashed. But Jim Coates fixed it right away, so all is well. ### 5/5 — Best BCP Daily Office Resource Out There! *2018-12-12* So many features, like the ability to select a date, and best of all it’s accessible without a Wi-Fi connection so you read anywhere at anytime. Is there a fix? ### 5/5 — Resource *2018-08-27, version 2.0.7* This Version of the lectionary is an excellent resource and support for daily prayer and reflection. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Very Good *2021-07-23* The layout, looking like a book, is somewhat eclectic and goofy… and the default font is just plain silly… but the content is all there and correct, and that is what matters. I was specifically looking for a lectionary app that showed the prescribed readings for each day, WITHOUT taking into account special readings for feast days. That way, on a feast day, I can read the special reading AND the standard one so as not to lose track of the ongoing narrative. My only suggestion for this app is to include the 30-day psalm cycle as an option (plleeeeaaaase?) — it’s in the prayer book, and I think a lot of us work pray the daily office use that cycle and not the more common 7 week one. ### 1/5 — Does not work on my iPad *2020-05-31* I downloaded app and opened it. Screen said earl t an update or data refresh. Screen said do not close app until download is complete and daily reading is displayed. Tapped START and when download finished The app did not display anything. iPad home screen appeared. Trying to open the app briefly displays a front prayer book then return to IPad home screen. I deleted the app and reinstalled several times with the same result. **Developer response:** iPad currently showing an anomaly with display. If you click the Index it’s in the upper left and re-select the reading it works just fine. If the index is blank in the database did not load correctly most likely due to a memory problem. If your having a memory problem turn off your iPad turn it back on and try to reinstall the app. ### 1/5 — Won’t load. *2018-12-08, version 2.0.7* Doesn’t work. Didn’t even realize how much it meant till it didn’t work. Deleting and reinstalling did the trick. Unfortunately today the Lectionary Index is not displaying today. Looks like app was updated yesterday which might have caused this problem. I deleted the app & reinstalled it, and it worked fine after that!!! **Developer response:** Whenever there is a problem with an app, it is recommended to delete the app and reinstall it. The service provided by Jim Coates is quick and personal. Within a couple of hours after my email was sent Jim was responding with help. The app is intuitive to use and allows for some customization in the font choice and size of the font. My only request for improvement is to allow for font color and background color. Also, why not create an app with the entire Book of Common Prayer? We would pay handsomely for such an app. I have about 6 different lectionary apps and this is my favorite! Preferences for reading version (NKJV and NRSV) as well as type face and size are easy to use. Recently I had occasion to get in touch with Jim with a question and he got back to me quickly even though, as it turned out, he was on a trip to the Holy Land.
