When it works it is definitely worth the price! However every time I select ‘suggested canticle’ for morning devotion it crashes, then every time I try to open morning devotion the app crashes. Please continue to fix these bugs! Thank you! ### 4/5 — Great but timed silence doesn't work *2017-04-18, version 1.3* I love this app. Unfortunately the only thing that doesn't work is wrong the length of time for silence. You can type the amount of time you want but you can't save the change, not even one time. ### 3/5 — Customizable But Buggy *2017-02-13, version 1.3* PROS: • Aesthetically pleasing; simple design. • Options galore - Lots of custom settings for one's liturgical preferences. CONS: • A handful of custom settings don't seem to work properly (e.g. scripture readings, collects). • Display needs to be ON during Silent Prayer Time, otherwise the time/progress bar won't progress. • Despite all the custom options, the price is still a bit steep for a BCP app (in my opinion). ### 3/5 — Good - still needs a few tweaks *2017-02-07, version 1.3* This has been a good app which I use even though I do get frustrated with it. For morning prayer this morning, only one reading was displayed. There is a surprising amount of flexibility. (I'd prefer a bit more specific control, as I have my own pattern for the office. But I haven't seen this much control anywhere else.) In my iOS version, however, there is no Gloria after the psalms. And the periods of silence (a very good idea) cannot, as far as I can tell, actually be edited. And there seems to be no way to report this to the developer. I’ve tried several times to contact the company about the problem. It still works for Noon and Compline. It hasn’t had an update in a year. I hope the developer comes back to it at some point. ### 2/5 — Great, when it works *2019-04-15, version 2.0.5* The fact that you have all offices with readings and tailoring available is great. The app crashes and freezes up all too often. If you don’t close the opening page next day you’ll be at the readings of the day before and unless you soft reset your device or delete and reinstall the app you’ll be out of luck. There are free apps with far more consistency. ### 2/5 — Please fix this! *2018-01-16, version 2.0.5* Crashes every time the Morning office is opened. Other offices work, but not the morning. Have tried enabling or disabling various options, but cannot find a workaround. This is a beautiful app, and if it all worked it would deserve five stars. Buggy and unreliable for now. ### 2/5 — Some major bugs for a $10 app *2017-12-31, version 2.0.5* The biggest and most annoying of these bugs is that the Daily Rite I & II for the evening does not work. It automatically kicks you out of the app. I have deleted and reinstalled it, and it still has the same problem. For now, I switch to Daily Devotion in the evenings (which does work). While I do like the flexibility of the app and the minimalist nature of it, I don’t know if it’s worth the $10 price tag at the moment until it’s working smoothly. ### 3/5 — Crashes and isn’t being updated *2019-01-11, version 2.0.5* I love this app... when it doesn’t crash. Several reviewers have mentioned this, and I have sent a message to the developer, but the issue continues. I wonder if the developer has simply abandoned it completely. I would advise against buying until an update is done. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Absolutely Wonderful *2019-02-22, version 2.0.5* In the quiet dark of the early morning I pray. This app allows me to never turn on a light (I use the accessibility option on my phone to invert the colors), nor search for a book or flip pages looking for the next reading. There is a certain serene joy in the simplicity. This app allows for a great deal of adjustment and modification depending on the rite and prayers and collects you might choose. I've dropped way more money on books I haven't even read yet than I paid to have this app. It is completely worth the money. In fact I'm almost embarrassed by how inexpensive it was compared to how much I use it. My sisters and brothers in Christ I wholeheartedly endorse this app. Soli Deo Gloria ### 5/5 — Excellent BCP app *2018-12-03, version 2.0.5* I really like this app among many of the BCP apps. It’s simple uncluttered layout is welcomed to focus on the content of each Office. The menu options help structure each Office to your liking. I initially had an issue with the app crashing when trying to open the Evening Prayer but after restarting my devices the app works perfectly. ### 5/5 — So helpful *2018-06-25, version 2.0.5* No matter where I am, as long as there’s cell signal, I’m prepared to pray the Daily Office. I still love the feel of books, but my phone is more portable. Sometimes I use this app just for easy access to the readings. Change up the settings a little and instantly freshen my practice. All we need now is EOW. Thanks! ### 5/5 — Really one of the best out there. *2018-04-07, version 2.0.5* So I will start by saying that I think the app is worth its price point, as the other comparable app as far as price goes, electronic common prayer, contains much more information, but forces you to click through a bunch of links to get to the relevant passages. As such, I like that this particular app allows you to seamlessly move through the office without any flipping for adjusting. Additionally, and this is a huge addition in my opinion, this app allows for the alternative readings to be used. This is something I have not seen on any other app that uses the two-year daily office lectionary. I love the fact that it is so flexible, and allows you to choose the collects that you want for each day. However, sometimes, it crashes when I try to do morning prayer. I haven’t been able to figure out rhyme nor reason for this, and I’d love it if one of the developers would contact me or respond to this. ### 4/5 — Excellent *2018-12-31, version 2.0.5* This is an excellent app with a lot of potential — I would love to see an update soon. On the whole, the app works well and I have noticed very few bugs. One of the best daily office apps out there. ### 4/5 — Great spiritual aid *2018-07-19, version 2.0.5* I have been using the app for morning prayer and compline for about four months. I love the ability to tailor each for my own tastes and needs. The app has helped me strengthen my spiritual discipline. The only complaint I have relates to the number of typographical errors. I guess my OCD is showing, but they distract me from my routine (see repeated words in the second paragraph of the Jubilate, plus sometimes using you when it should have been your, etc.). But every app has either required pushing a million buttons to get to all the components, or had too few options about the many flexible parts of the liturgy. This app made it very easy to set up the rhythm of the Office so the parts I want are there, with no hunting. I've been waiting for this app for YEARS. I'd love to see a night/dark mode because the white screen is pretty blaring for me, otherwise this is perfect.
