Charles Spurgeon’s insight and teachings of the Bible is beyond spectacular. His love for our Father, Jesus and our Holy Spirit is so evident; just precious. I’ve been wanting to leave a review and a few times I’ve gotten a prompt in the app and clicked on the button to come leave a review in the App Store but it always gives me an error connecting so I decided to just look it up in the App Store manually so I can finally leave a review. I enjoy being able to read the Scripture verse of the day, and also excerpts from some of Spurgeon‘s best devotionals, including daily readings from Morning and Evening, Faith’s Checkbook, and The Birthday Book. This wasn’t a little add, it took over the entire screen and was a video. That is the last thing I want when reading a devo. It lasted over 30 seconds and there was no way to close it. I also understand you need ads. BUT DO THEY HAVE TO BE SO LOUD?!?!? The last thing I want to hear after a calming moment with the Word is a shockingly loud advertisement. A lot of times I read Spurgeon in the early morning and late evening. I don’t know how many times it has shocked me or woken up a family member. Please change this!!!! ### 2/5 — Good overall app, but! *2021-09-10* See original review below. Apparently the developers either can’t or won’t fix the app. I wonder if they even read the reviews. I downgraded to two stars until the formatting is fixed. Why give the option for black lettering on a “white” background if that’s not what you get? Good app but the formatting needs work. Because of my eyesight, a white background with dark black lettering is easier to read. I selected that option, but that’s not what you get. Once you scroll up, the background turns gray with a light black lettering. I mentioned this a while back, but it hasn’t changed. Otherwise I would rate it at 5 stars. I love that it has both Faith’s Checkbook and Spurgeon’s Mourning and Evening Devotions in one app. I used to have two different apps from this developer but having them together is definitely a bonus. **Developer response:** Hi, You can Restore Purchases under Settings if you've paid to Unlock All Features. I really enjoy it! I love the layout and the different devotionals that you do each day. I’m not a big devotional person because I personally feel like they tend to not be super biblical. The ones i’ve read anyways. This one is not like that at all!! Super biblical, convicting, and Jesus has helped me grow through this alot in the little time i’ve had the app. I really have no complaints about the app at all. I love Spurgeons work and this has countless messages from him which are easily understandable and it’s not cupcake christianity either which I love.
