But it now seems to stall (won't show the next month's daily inspiration "messages") every few months or so. I've called Unity customer support several times now about this. The response is this: remove delete the app from your phone. Then go to App Store and download the Unity Daily Word app and fill in your login data. It then works, for the next several months. This of course is if you have bought the Digital subscription (which is reasonably priced FYI). I do have a multi-year subscription. I just wish it would work consistently. (Edit: since I've been removing the user data as well as the app, it does loose the history/ messages I have marked, which is sad. Maybe I can keep the history, I'll try that next time it stalls.) ### 3/5 — Update for Spanish App. *2022-04-11, version 1.0.7* The app needs an update ASAP, specially in Spanish. The monthly meditation still in January 2022, but is April already. Take action now, please. The readers’ voices are so soothing and reassuring. But for the past few months I have not been able to get this feature and that feature to work and today it won’t even progress to today’s message. I’m going to have to call customer service because I pay for this subscription and I’m getting less and less functionality from it. If it worked I would easily give the app 5 stars. ### 4/5 — Great message with a few bugs *2020-07-28, version 1.0.7* The messages are great and always timely. The app could use some work. Every time I click the share icon the app will freeze and and I can’t go back to the message for the day. I do wish there were more regular updates to fix bugs but all and all the daily message is functional. ### 3/5 — Please update the app! *2019-11-30, version 1.0.7* Great content but Unity needs to update the app. Unacceptable it does not scale for modern large screens. ### 4/5 — Plain, Registration Annoying, But Delivers *2019-02-06, version 1.0.7* Like many Boomers, I grew up with Unity magazine. It wasn’t a bid deal, or a religion for my family. It was just a nice, uplifting, browsable little magazine that seemed to be sort of Christian without the guilt and Hell. It was nostalgic to get this app, and I was not disappointed. First, the presentation is functional and that’s all. No pretty background pictures or attractive buttons. White screen with text and some basic buttons at the bottom to play content. Second, many users report problems with logging in. Sure enough, it did not recognize my login information, even though the website did. A call to a pleasant tech support person got that sorted out, but by now they really shouldn’t still be having this problem. The content, however is excellent. It is typical New Thought, e.g. positive affirmations—a mini-meditation on a word or phrase accompanied by a nice, unobtrusive acoustic guitar. At the end is a Bible verse, but I would not call this Christian by any means. There is also a more lengthy guided meditation every week, plus some nice music to accompany different (brief) meditations on your own. The New Thought movement of the 19th century held few orthodox beliefs, and today Unity is downplaying any link to the “metaphysical Christianity” of people like Cady, Eddy, and Unity founders Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in favor of a scattershot pop New Age approach. However, the content of this particular app is more like “Original Recipe” Unity, so you’re not going to get quotes from the Gita or Spiritualists. (Their magazine, also available for online subscription, is very different.) If you’re “spiritual but not religious,” or religious but looking for something a little more positive, this might be for you. I enjoy starting off the day with the Daily Word. It sets a positive tone even thought I don’t buy into many New Thought beliefs. H. Emilie Cady’s Unity classic “12 Lessons” is a perfect example of the weak intellectual underpinnings of New Thought. Nonetheless, there is some wheat among a lot of chaff, especially when she stops trying to explain and just says, “look, you don’t don’t have to understand, just do it!” But the app avoids all of the confusion and just presents the wheat—if, that is, you can accept it as wheat. ### 1/5 — Ughh!! *2018-07-15, version 1.0.7* The app says I don’t have a subscription and I do so I can’t access the app. Smh ### 1/5 — Unable to download on my iPhone. *2018-05-15, version 1.0.7* Am willing to pay for this app and really want it but unable to get past the user ID and password screen. Very disappointing. ### 1/5 — Horrible introduction to new user *2018-04-22, version 1.0.7* I was pleased to find this app but then really shocked to discover that on opening the app you are instantly confronted with a sign in and no way at all to set up a new account in the app. No explanation of where to go to set up an account. It’s 2018 people!!! A free app should give you some free introductory content and a way to do an in-app purchase. ### 1/5 — What happened? *2018-01-06, version 1.0.7* As of today 1/6/18 this app no longer works in spite of following directions. My online info shows I have a digital subscription until 9/1/18 but when I try logging in from the app I’m told I have no subscription. Based on the reviews it appears I’m not the only one with issues. It worked fine before I upgraded to the iPhone 8. Suddenly just stopped working and won't accept my password, even the temporary one you sent. Also says server problems but definitely not on my end. I wanted to give a good review because I've used this for a while. However, I really can't since I can't use something I paid to subscribe to. The ability to set daily reminders doesn't work, and I can no longer bookmark favorites. When a favorite reading is selected it's not added to the list. This app hasn't been updated in over a year, so I'm not sure it will be updated anytime soon. With this being a paid subscription, I would hope Daily Word would look into preserving the app. ### 1/5 — Should allow purchase online *2017-04-12, version 1.0.7* I downloaded the app because I wanted to be able to subscribe & read the Daily Word through the phone app. However, this functionality does not exist. I think the app needs more features though. It would be nice if there were more meditations available. More importantly, a link to a bible would be good to make the most out of the daily bible passages. I know Unity at least right now kind of fears bible study, but a link to the bible would give the app broader appeal. More of the fee for the app should be invested in app design. With the new application I get an email reminder as well as an alert on my Ipad as a reminder each day. The electronic app has many additional features that you don't get from the paper version. My parents and I have been subscribers of the Daily Word publication for many years. We enjoy the positive, faith-based affirmations. This app has just take Daily Word to the next level! There is an option to have the passage for the day read aloud. I am really enjoying that feature. I also really like the favorites section. You can add passages to your favorites and view them at any time. The archives are also fantastic! Just type in a topic of your choice and you have many passages from which to choose. This app is already making a difference in my attitude and life. The people at Unity are such a blessing! This APP will help expand that too millions of more people for the next 90+ years. Way to go, Unity! Keep promoting the wonders of God. Would like to see the APP version look more like the printed and e-mailed versions. The APP version is kinda drab-looking. Also, would like the ability to underline or highlight passages within the Daily message. At any rate, this is still a 5-star APP. It was easier to keep up with the daily devotions than the emails. I also used the star favorite messages feature to highlight messages that had a special meaning for me. Now that there are navigation arrows for past messages, it is even better.
