## What is Dalo Task Manager?

Dalo is a long-list task manager. It was created to help you take full advantage of one of the most effective productivity methods invented by Mark Forster.

The beauty of Mr. Forster’s method lies in the combination of how simple it is to use and how well it uses certain aspects of our psychology to make us more productive.

THE ISSUE

Sometimes we get mental resistance towards working on tasks that seem time-consuming, tedious or difficult. This resistance makes us try to avoid doing this work until the very last moment. Or we don't even make an attempt, leaving stale tasks in our to-do lists. We may well have sorted our tasks by priority or due dates, grouped them into projects, but if we are not psychologically ready to actually do the task that’s in front of us, it may be all for nothing.

So, how to avoid this resistance or how to be psychologically ready for the time-consuming, tedious or difficult tasks?

THE SOLUTION

Trust yourself that you subconsciously already know what needs to be worked on. Then rely on your subconsciousness and select the tasks from your list which stick out for you. Find one that you actually want to do now and start there. Only do as much work as you want on each selected task. You don’t have to finish it in one go.

These simple principles can help eliminate procrastination as there is no pressure to finish or to work for too long. Even the smallest step will do.

THE METHOD

• Write all your tasks into one long list
• Scan the list and select the tasks that stick out
(Helper question: What do I want to do more than the previous task I selected?)
• When you find the task that you want to do now, start working on the selected tasks from the end (last selected = first to do)
• Only do as much work as you want on each task
If the task is not finished, complete a step, another step is added to the end of the list
Make a new selection, repeat
(Any new tasks are added to the end of the list)

• Automatically adds new steps, where needed
• Pages mimicking the original paper-based method
• Minimalistic interface, focusing on speed and efficiency
• Conveniently duplicate tasks (when need to copy part of title or information in notes across)
• Automatic archiving of completed pages

### 5/5 — Excellent effective minimalist time management system

*2024-03-10*

A well executed app for Mark Forster's Autofocus time management system. I've long wondered why his system is not particularly well known. It really works. I've used Autofocus methodology to great effect for years on paper and am very grateful to learn of this digital version. Syncs seamlessly with the macos desktop app. The most skillful part of the system is that addresses one's 'psychological readiness' to do a task; something that is entirely missing from other approaches. In short, if the goal is to actually accomplish tasks, use this app.

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2022-06-10, version 3.5*

Great method, with a simple and elegant implementation here that goes with me all day.
Would love for the option to clear all selections for starting a new day instead of manually removing them one by one.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2022-05-25*

I use Mark Forster’s FV method which is the only thing I’ve ever found that actually works for me (it’s amazing how good it feels to get tasks DONE that have hung around in previous systems for years). However I struggled to find an app that worked with this system (I wanted the portability of a digital system, but nothing fit). After downloading and deleting about 50 apps I found Dalo. Perfect! Although the ability to hide things until later is not part of the original method it’s just the tweak I need. Thanks developer

### 4/5 — At last !

*2021-05-28, version 3.3*

Nice to see someone build a decent task manager app that properly supports Mark Forsters various task management systems 😀
These systems can be highly effective and work in a very different way to gtd. I suggest giving it a go if you have not so far.

The app works pretty well and provides for all the key functions as needed. There are a few small rough edges and some things that could be added to make life even easier, but overall good stuff!
The iPad app doesn’t look as good as the iPhone app but works just as well.

I hope the developer remains active on this project and keeps it alive and improving

Why not give it a crack!

### 5/5 — Task manager efficace

*2021-05-22*

### 5/5 — Brilliant !

*2021-05-10, version 3.3*

Brilliant unique app especially for anyone interested in Mark Forster’s Time Management systems . One of a kind !

### 4/5 — innovative

*2021-04-12*

i’ve been writing with Fosters auto focus method for years and this is what i was looking for on iphone.
great job

### 4/5 — Liste de tâches minimaliste et originale

*2021-02-27*

### 5/5 — Great Mark Forster AutoFocus Implementation

*2020-10-31*

Been using this for driving an international adoption, personal todos, building a nonprofit, etc. This simplifies and lets you cut to the core of what needs doing.

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your review.

### 5/5 — Digital autofocus method!

*2018-05-25*

I've enjoyed Mark's books & productivity methods for many years. Glad to finally see a neat, minimalist digital implementation that rivals the paper version. The instructions on the method are good but the app navigation could be a little clearer. Also please change the color of the Search bar to something that mimics the palette of the app! Overall great job!

Edited 05/25: Thanks to the developer for reaching out & even modifying the Search bar color! I use this app constantly - being able to see the number of times I've worked on a project or task helps keep me motivated. Knowing that a completed page gets saved & logged gives me a nice record of my accomplishments!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for a great review and for using the app.

The search bar colour has been fixed in a recent release and I would be very happy to make the app navigation clearer for yourself and for all users. So, if it’s not too much trouble, what in particular could be improved regarding the app navigation? Thanks again.
