After reading the other reviews, I have realised that DanaLock has now removed this feature. Leaving a 1 star review until this feature is brought back. Very disappointing to be honest, instead of bringing new functionality and adding value, feels like they’re going backwards. ### 1/5 — How to move two steps back without moving any steps forward! *2023-11-07, version 3.20.0* Have had Danalock now for around 3 years. It’s temperamental but works most of the time. Switched off auto unlock which was a stand out feature because it never worked properly. Now they’ve removed a feature which was originally touted as helping older or less able people open their door which was the Twist assist. Basically you twist the lock slightly and it will do the rest for you. So what of the less bales now who have to contend with a stiffer key lock? The reasoning was that it wasn’t used. Is it something that needs constant maintaining or extra power? No. So why remove it as I’m sure if even only 20% of people use it, it’s useful to them! The side effect is that they’ve also turned off the red light showing the lock was actually locked but kept the green light showing it is unlocked. I actually thought the lock was broken as there wasn’t a light but was confused as to why I could still unlock the door with the app. Also thanks for not consulting or notifying anyone. Strongly considering using another brand now since my lock company has partnered with a newer smart lock brand. Wouldn’t say don’t buy Danalock but be aware that many features are no longer available and the ones they keep don’t always work ### 1/5 — Twist assist has been removed! *2023-11-06, version 3.20.0* Had this lock for a few years now and after from some teething issues, it’s been great. Until now! They are updated the app and removed twist assist. Why, what is the reasons for this! Going to give it a few weeks for it to be return, if not I’m going to look at other smart locks! ### 1/5 — Where has twist assist gone !!!! *2023-11-06, version 3.20.0* Updating an app is supposed to improve it - not take away a useful function. It undermines the whole aspect of buying a smart lock if it gets dumber. This was one of the main reasons I purchased this lock and now it’s £130 of junk. On their website they say they removed the feature because it “had very low adoption”. Why not just leave it enabled for the existing locks??? Now they’re awkward to use compared to before. Just restore the function, it can’t be that difficult. ### 1/5 — Loss of Critical Twist Assist Feature in Latest Update *2023-11-03, version 3.20.0* Extremely disappointed with the latest Danalock app update, which unexpectedly removed the Twist Assist feature - a critical and heavily relied upon feature we used daily on our lock. This feature was key to making the lock exceptionally user-friendly, especially for children. The lack of Twist Assist severely diminishes the lock's usability, and we’re now looking for another brand of smart lock with this essential feature. I hope this feedback reaches the developers and that they reconsider the decision to remove such a critical feature, restoring the Danalock to its former, highly functional state. ### 1/5 — Twist assist removed *2023-11-02, version 3.20.0* Why has the twist assist been removed on the latest version of the app? The locking and unlocking of the door is very clunky, and I’m not sure the twisty bit is strong enough not to break. No customer service phone number to call, they want you to send an email and wait for a reply. Won’t always lock with key (if outside), twist assist or keychain on the app. I have emailed support a couple of times recently and followed their recommendations. Now though, the lock at times, becoming more frequent, will not unlock using all methods apart from the key. This is very serious and dangerous as if my house caught fire I wouldn’t be able to get out. I emailed support 2 days ago and NO RESPONSE. I’ve emailed again tonight so will see! Not holding my breath so maybe Watchdog is the next step! ### 1/5 — No customer support *2022-10-21, version 3.16.0* Please be aware before you purchase. I am now on my second Danalock v3. The first one had issues with the batteries lasting 48 hours. Danalock sent me back to where I purchased it. They kindly replaced it. And it’s been working really well for a few months until 4 days ago when it stopped working completely. I have emailed the support team and other than a auto reply and a case number. Nobody had bothered to reply. Very frustrating. I’ve even tried twitter but looks like they haven’t been on twitter for a couple of years. Starting to wonder of the company has closed down. The app is very basic. But doesn’t really need to do much more than it does. It could potentially have a nicer UI but it’s the locks that are the problem and the companies lack of support. You have to enter the code on the pinpad 2-3 times so the door will unlock. It is only a year old and so many issues. Changed the battery and then reset it. The support is overseas. The place that sold it does not provide any assistance. Like another reviewer mentioned…locked my kids out! I am going to have it removed. ### 1/5 — Feature removal = constant recalibration *2024-04-22, version 3.20.0* The twist assist feature which was fantastically useful was removed and now since then, we have to re-calibrate the lock every few weeks as it stops locking via the app or Alexa correctly; if you don’t check, you can go out leaving the house unlocked. It’s made an otherwise functional the product a massive PITA. ### 1/5 — Customer service? *2024-02-28, version 3.20.0* So I’m not the first here to mention this so Danalock take heed! Yes we are talking about twist assist. I asked Customer service where this feature had gone and apparently their customer feedback told them that it wasn’t needed. When I replied to this, suggesting the comments here said otherwise they simply ignored me. The product scrapes by as acceptable; if it wasn’t so expensive it would be in the bin. I don’t think it’s value for money. The application is not user friendly. I can’t decide if the app is bad or it’s the product being substandard. Customer service: zero. You are a terrible company and when I eventually replace the product I’ll steer very clear of you. I suggest others do the same. ### 1/5 — Was great - then they removed Twist Assist *2024-01-25, version 3.20.0* This lock no longer works properly since the removal of Twist Assist: if you open the lock manually, it doesn’t lock automatically later, even if you have it set-up to. You either have to unlock using the app or via Alexa if you want it to automatically lock again afterwards. Strongly considering other alternatives now. Shame as this was ideal previously. It was the reason for my purchase of the lock. My elderly relative with arthritic hands relied on this feature, now somewhat stranded without this feature being available. Update. 2 months later, no updates to restore this feature and no communications despite several emails. But the Danalock was recommended for and installed on the door I bought so I did not have much choice. Honestly, the setup was pretty flawless. I registered, the app picked up the lock and keypad instantly, I paired them to each other, I created a pin, it works just fine. Danalock is actually working pretty well for me. Auto-Lock and Unlock are working. All the other features like firmware upgrades, calibration, user management etc are highly appreciated! The adapter plate had to be adjusted for my lock, but done is done. The lock is awesome! Great construction. The app works great. I learned that if you manually touch the back momentarily, it locks. If you hold your finger to the back, then let go, it opens. Auto open/close depends if you have left the area, then come back. You’ll know if you enabled notifications. Can’t beat the price.
