## What is Dance Diary?

Made for dancers, by dancers.

Dance Diary is your personal space to log every class, remember every correction, and watch your progress grow — while taking care of the dancer behind the technique.

LOGGING A CLASS TAKES SECONDS
Add your weekly schedule once, and each class appears on the right day ready to log in a single tap. Style, duration, teacher, corrections, how hard it felt, and how your body is doing. Two classes in one day? Log them both.

NEVER LOSE A CORRECTION
Keep every note your teacher gives you, organized by body part and by teacher, and move each one from Focus to Improving to Mastered. A correction you haven't worked on in a while quietly comes back so it isn't forgotten.

CAPTURE CORRECTIONS BEFORE YOU FORGET
Straight after class, type everything your teacher said — one per line — and save them all at once. Tag them later, when you have a moment.

PRACTISE WITH INTENT
Start a timer against the correction or skill you are actually working on, and the minutes land against that thing. Working on something counts, even before it clicks.

THE THINGS YOU ARE CHASING
Corrections come from your teachers. Skills are the ones you set yourself — a double pirouette, splits on the left — with a dated log that proves they moved.

WRITE TO THE DANCER YOU'LL BE
Seal a letter to yourself, opened in one month or one year. Dancers change faster than they notice.

A SUMMARY YOU CAN SHARE
Turn a season into a plain summary — classes, hours, teachers, performances, corrections mastered — for a teacher, an audition, or an application.

WRITE DOWN THE CHOREOGRAPHY
Combinations noted the way you count them — in eights — so what you learned on Tuesday is still there on Thursday. Plus a glossary of over fifty dance terms, with pronunciations, for the days a teacher uses a word you don't know.

SET GOALS THAT MEAN SOMETHING
Weekly and monthly goals with progress tracking. Unfinished goals can be carried into the new week with one tap, and past goals stay as a record of how far you've come.

OWN THE STAGE
Competitions, recitals, and auditions with countdowns, a packing list for each one, and a two-minute Backstage moment for the wings — breathing, and then your own training hours read back to you, because "you are ready" means more when it's arithmetic.

CARE FOR YOUR MIND, TOO
A daily mood check-in, guided box and 4-7-8 breathing, 5-4-3-2-1 grounding, a progressive body scan, reflection prompts you can read back any time, and 36 affirmations written for dancers. If you keep flagging discomfort, the app offers a recovery mode that hides streaks and gets gentler until you're ready.

SEE YOUR OWN PATTERNS
Mood over the past month, how your body has felt, hours by style and teacher, a Year in Review worth sharing, and quiet observations drawn from your own entries — all worked out on your phone.

YOURS, AND ONLY YOURS
No accounts. No ads. Everything you write stays on your device — the app shares only anonymous usage statistics, which you can switch off. Optional Face ID lock, optional daily reminders, and one-tap backup export and import so your history follows you to a new phone.

Three hand-crafted themes — Ballet Rose, Studio Warm, and Night Bloom — make your diary feel like home.

Your journey in dance is yours alone — and it is beautiful.

This app is so organized and it keeps me on track for upcoming things and I think that every dancer should download this if they get overwhelmed by balancing both school and dance.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.4.0 — 2026-09-15

A smoother start — new dancers are now guided to add the classes they take each week, so one-tap logging, reminders and the Home Screen widget work from day one.

Fixes — old milestones no longer pop up again when you open the app, and the welcome tour now says clearly what stays on your phone and what the anonymous usage statistics are. Your Season now counts a correction in the season you mastered it, and practice time reads correctly.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-14

A Home Screen widget — your next class and one correction to keep in mind, right on your Home Screen, with a countdown to your next performance in the larger size. It follows your theme, and while App Lock is on it shows nothing from your diary.

Anonymous usage statistics — Dance Diary now shares anonymous statistics about which features are used and when the app crashes, so we can fix problems and make it better. It never includes what you write, how you feel, or who you are, and you can switch it off in About → Privacy & Security.

Under the hood — updated components for a faster, steadier app.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-11

Quick Capture — after class, type every correction your teacher gave you, one per line, and save them all at once.

Practice timer — run a timer against the correction or skill you are working on. The minutes land against that thing, and a correction you have practised stops being flagged as forgotten.

Your Season — turn any period into a summary you can send to a teacher or keep for an audition.

Crisis support wherever you are — helplines now match your country, with services for the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and a worldwide directory everywhere else.

Easier to use with VoiceOver and large text — buttons and controls throughout the app now announce themselves properly, and the app no longer breaks at the largest accessibility text sizes.

A gentle reminder to keep a copy — your diary lives only on this phone, so Dance Diary will occasionally offer to export a backup.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-08

No release notes.
