### 4/5 — Danse Macabre: Deadly Deception by LynxMinx

*2016-02-19, version 1.0.0*

Note to KimTwilight:
I Just played Eventide and loved it. Reviewers, it's a game by Artifex Mundi that was never advertised by BigFish and I wouldn't have known about it if not for KimT. It was fantastic! You all should check it out! I guess I will start this game now and get back to you upon completion! I have noticed that our old reviews are disappearing and I am outraged over this!
KimT: I read your advice on what to google and search for! This is EXTREMELY HELPFUL! I am so grateful you have no idea! This might be the answer to my problem, so thank you ever so much! Since I am not technologically inclined, I never would have figured it out on my own! I am in so much pain that this could really be the perfect solution to help me play these games! Just knowing you care means the world to me! Dracyy, thank you as well for your advice! I so appreciate that you are so amazingly thoughtful! I won't play that new Alaskan game but not because of the mouse! It got poor reviews, and has too many HO's, plus you didn't care for it and I trust you implicitly. After all I did play the Haunted Hotel game and there were RATS and I survived, but as always I really am so grateful for you and KimT giving me a heads up! Do you wonder what happened to Snooper? I really miss her a lot! Dracyy, those games Kim recommended by Artifex Mundi are amazing! BigFish never let us know of them and then they give us crap without a free trial! You will love Eventide! Thanks again, team! You are the best!
So on to the review: I love the 1920's Art Deco graphics; my home has quite a few pieces from that era. The story was good, but I hate evidence folders. There were 3 options of difficulty, but no customization or left-handed mode. You collect masks and morphing objects only in HOS, which were varied and fun, and they weren't overly done. If you didn't feel like the HO scenes, you could play match-3 instead. Inventory was labeled, and there were plus items to assemble. There was a marked teleport map, if so chosen and loading was instantaneous between locations. The puzzles were mostly of the rotational type, my least favorite, but KimT you would be proud of me because I did them all and didn't skip any; I am trying to hone my brain. There weren't enough puzzles/games. But at least there were no rodents to deal with either!
I deducted a star for the following reasons: the game was extremely short, even with bonus adventure. I really would prefer a journal instead of an evidence folder to keep track of the story, and I hate having to exit the game to access the map and the evidence file!
Still I liked this game better than the last Dead Reckoning, but I wish there had been more substance to this game, and more to do! So now I think I will play Dreamatorium, which you recommended, KimT! I don't know why BigFish is not telling us about these games! Lynxie sends 💋❤️😘 to the Dream Team Elite, especially to the amazing KimT, Dracyy, Opinion, and Sunshine Susie! Welcome back Blueflier! We missed you! Hope you're well. Keep up the great work, because we need better games. I refuse to play any new game that comes out which doesn't have a teleport map. With what we pay, especially without trials, we are entitled to be lazy if we want, lol! Thank you also Dracyy and Kim for staying on RAT patrol for me!
UPDATE: Gamers and reviewers alike, the Artifex Mundi game Dreamatorium of Dr. Magnus 2 is a must-play! Btw, that's a developer who gives you a trial first, without having to pay up front, and their games are amazingly well-tested! So superior to what BigFish is giving us, with all the types of game elements we love! You can thank the fabulous and amazing KimTwilight, who is the best of the best on the Dream Team Elite! Speaking of which, does anyone notice that the last couple of games (the Asian one and the Native American one) got very poor reviews? Why is BigFish not bringing us more quality games, by developers such as Artifex Mundi, BOOLAT, Mad Head and Sunward? Everyone needs to speak up! Inferior games without trial periods? Certainly not alright to take our money up front and give us glitchy and dated games with no trials! What has happened to their integrity? It's in the toilet! 💩💩🚽😖😡 Please everyone (not just the team), start COMPLAINING! Or it's going to get worse!

### 4/5 — Not the best in series, but still quite good

*2016-02-18, version 1.0.0*

Another mystery in this series is always something to be excited about because of the storyline and plot. But this time, it was a little less creative and a bit more buggy. However, that's when I compare with the other five star games in the series...when I compare Deception with other games outside the Danse Macabre series, it is still much better than those.

The good: interesting storyline and plot. Great graphics and sound overs and cutscenes. Locale isn't a bewitched castle and the villain isn't an ogre or witch. Real world-ish, but in the 30s-40s. The HOs are varied, and there are collectibles if you like that kind of thing.

The bad: the games were quite easy and didn't seem very diverse. I felt like I was turning things all the time. The exact-spot tapping was all too prevalent. And while the characters and storyline were intriguing, the actual gameplay was just kind of meh.😶😐

Worth the sale price? Most definitely. Full fare? I'm not so sure.

Thank you to all the reviewers who give their time and effort! Your feedback and shared experience really helps those of us who aren't playing all the games and want to pick the best ones for our time. Virtual bouquets to you all!💐💐💐💐🌺🌸🌼🌷🌹
Hellos and good wishes to everyone...I'm recovering and getting stronger every day, and I enjoy seeing your posts. xo

### 4/5 — Danse Macabre - Deadly Deception

*2016-02-16, version 1.0.0*

Yes Indeedy...another good game in this series. Interesting story and fun game.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2016-02-15, version 1.0.0*

I couldn't use the the clock weights and then the inventory disappeared. This happened halfway through the game. I am playing on an Ipad air.

### 3/5 — Eh...

*2016-02-14, version 1.0.0*

I've played a lot of Big Fish games, and the first Danse Macabre is one of my favorites. But this one just seemed lazy, and not challenging at all.

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect

*2016-02-14, version 1.0.0*

I love Elephant Games and this one is no exception. Good story line, collectibles, solid voice overs, transporting map and creative puzzles. Wanted to give this five stars but wish the map were easier to get to and that all the HOPs had zoom.

### 4/5 — Love murder mysteries games

*2016-02-12, version 1.0.0*

Only 4 stars because: pentagonal and circle ghost shapes throughout the game (very annoying). And also, the map is under the Menu button.

### 5/5 — Great!!!

*2016-02-12, version 1.0.0*

I never ever give 5 stars. There's always something wrong - map doesn't transport or hint button takes way too long or the puzzles & HOPS are too hard or not hard enough. You know what I mean. Not this game. It has everything plus HOPS that are unique & "match 3" is the alternative!! How fun!! I sometimes have to fight myself because I want to do both!
In addition, the storyline is super! In the 1st 5 minutes, you have a murder mystery to investigate, suspects, a body to examine that turns out to be a different person than it was thought to be…I won't spoil it for you, but you need to hurry! It's on sale for $3.99 (40% off) only until Sunday.
Oh! And there are more games in this series. I can promise you, after playing this one, I'll eventually have them all!

### 3/5 — Don't Be Deceived! This "Dance" is Not So Deadly Good!

*2016-02-12, version 1.0.0*

You are a detective who is hired by the Ashfords to investigate the death of their daughter, Marion, at the Belfort Academy. When the Ashfords arrive to identify their daughter, shockingly, they tell you that the girl is not their Marion. You now set out to find out who this victim really is and what has happened to the real Marion. Who can the mysterious person be who seems to be taking on the identity of Marion Ashford? Along the way, you will interact with various characters; and their photos, together with information and collected evidence relating to each one, will be recorded in your Case File. The graphics are beautiful and clear with bright colors, including shades of yellow and red to create a mysterious mood. The artwork nicely portrays the look and feel of the 1920's with the characters' appearances, the old cars, and the sexy cabaret setting. Unfortunately, there were no custom settings; and the setting options were very undesirable. I played the second mode, and I had sparkles and HOS tapping penalties; that is so unacceptable for this "era" of advanced game mechanics prevalent in most games. The inventory was labeled and interactive; items require assembly. The map required double clicks to teleport; and in the second mode, only objectives were indicated. There was no back button. There was no journal, but you had the Case File as stated above. The HOS are one of the better features here, and they were innovative and varied. You had word lists with interaction initiated after finding quantities of certain objects; then some micro HOS initiate where a small interactive window opens as a silhouette type. One unique scene was to examine the victim's body to look for signs of a struggle, such as bruise marks. The puzzles were actually very simple "micro" sized types, such as matching parts of a lock by paired pictures to open the lock; there were many rotational types. Nothing challenging or "outside the box." You collect masks in the locations; some are well blended into the background. You collect morphing objects in the HOS. The extras include a match 3 game, replay of HOS and puzzles, and a souvenir room. I did not find this installment as intriguing as the last one; it was missing something and lacked depth. I rated the game three stars for the following reasons: 1. Not many items to collect in each scene. 2. Transition was slow and clunky between cut scenes to the point where my screen was frozen for a few seconds. 3. The map and Case File was accessed through the menu, which is an unnecessary extra step. 4. I loathed the difficulty mode settings as stated above. 5. The puzzles were boring with too many rotational types. Overall, the storyline was interesting enough to hold my interest.

By the way, has anyone noticed that all of our reviews are disappearing as recent games get updated and re-released?

### 5/5 — Dance Along with Danse Macabre!

*2016-02-11, version 1.0.0*

Love it! I was anxiously awaiting another in this series, so I purchased at once. If you love Collectibles - masks in this one - and Morphing Objects, Deadly Deception is the perfect choice! Art Deco clothing and buildings add to the lovely suspense. You are sent to see why a dance student, Marion, was murdered. To your great surprise, you discover that the corpse is not Marion, but an imposter. So where is the real Marion? And who was killed? Hidden Objects vary from regular to shadow-style. Excellent puzzles and extra mystery (who was being blackmailed, and why?) Great Map, Hint, Skip, and Guide. You will immerse yourself in the game and forget everything else! What a great Valentine gift for yourself! Get this Eipix beauty and enjoy!

### 3/5 — Great

*2016-02-11, version 1.0.0*

Great

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bugs! Started twice but no good, can't play!

*2016-03-01, version 1.0.0*

Game losses the inventory and I had to start over, the second time I got further into the game when the same thing happened! This one is a lost for me! I even rebooted the iPad and closed down all apps, that didn't help. I'm not investing any more of my time on this one!

### 1/5 — do not waste your money

*2016-02-21, version 1.0.0*

Mid game the inventory stopped working. Twice. I will not try a third time. Even when working the story is boring. I want a refund!

### 1/5 — Poor programming

*2016-02-17, version 1.0.0*

Seemed to be a good story with good graphics. But, at one point, my inventory disappeared and I had to delete/reload the program and start from the beginning. Now the program has froze and I'll have to do the ol' delete/reload/start from the beginning again if I want to keep playing. I'm fed up with the poor quality and will delete (not reload) this game. This isn't the first Big Fish game that this has happened... most recently with Mystery Trackers, Nightsville Horror. Until Big Fish develops quality control in the programs that they release, I'm swearing off their products.

### 1/5 — Bad bad bad

*2016-02-16, version 1.0.0*

Twice I've had to delete and reinstall this game because it randomly just takes the objects I acquire. I can't move forward or back because I don't possess the appropriate tools.

Even on sale, this was a waste of money.

### 1/5 — I just bought

*2016-02-15, version 1.0.0*

I love this series but the mechanics on this one are way too bug I've rested twice and I can't even get past the very first scene because the tool box won't pop up.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work..l

*2016-02-11, version 1.0.0*

I've downloaded this twice.. It won't let me play it at all it keeps shutting down ... Fix it or I'll request my money back

### 2/5 — Disappearing Inventory

*2016-02-22, version 1.0.0*

Seriously I would love to rate higher but can not play without inventory. Please fix

### 2/5 — Inventory items disappeared!

*2016-02-15, version 1.0.0*

I was playing this game at a good pace and rather enjoying it. I came back to the game a day later and all of my inventory items are gone! I got to the end of Chapter 4. I remember I acquired the two clock weights and needed to place them on the clock. But now all items are gone and I can't proceed. So disappointed because I was enjoying this game! Please fix!

### 2/5 — Too short

*2016-02-13, version 1.0.0*

Wasn't long enough. Not worth the money.

### 3/5 — bonus chapter

*2020-12-14, version 1.0.2*

Could not access gloves in bonus chapter so could not move forward.

### 5/5 — One of the BEST

*2016-02-13, version 1.0.0*

### 5/5 — Wonderful on iPhone

*2016-02-12, version 1.0.0*

I thought this game on Darcy's recommendation and am so happy that I did!! I'm using my iPhone 6s and it's working perfectly. I can read all the text and I can find everything in the hidden object scenes. The story line is interesting and it has all the makings of a wonderful game. I recommend this game to everyone!!!
