It literally usedtot be free an dthen about $8. Not only has it jumped up in price but it does not include scenarios or meds. those are in app purchases & there is nothing to indicate how much they cost. I will continue to use it for now but am disapointed in the way DartSim has chosen to go financially. CHarge the corporations and health districts the big $, leave us unsupported instructors with a full pkg at a reasonable cost. This isn't it. ### 2/5 — Its the best EKG sim ever, but with some issues. *2019-05-04, version 7.8* The only bug I found so far is it crashing a lot. Honestly I could’ve spent my money on something else, but it’s still worth it. It’s much better to use when it’s updated :p ### 3/5 — Nurse Educator *2018-10-15, version 7.8* Still waiting for an updated scenario version for 2015 AHA guidelines. I called tech support a year ago and they said waiting for Apple. So sad, as it’s such a great program... ### 3/5 — Nice sim, but..... *2018-05-22, version 7.8* This sim has great potential. Seems to present the AHA guidelines in a positive manner. However, expensive add ons must be purchased to make this app fully functional for classroom. I actually resisted the X-ray add on because I already spent so much for the EKG, MEDS, and scenario add on modules. Oxygen is omitted from the Med list, the most primary drug! At this point, I’ll use it as a teaching point, but won’t use it for any testing in AHA ACLS, PALS, OR ACLS EP classes. My review is based an 40 years as an AHA instructor. ### 4/5 — Great app but beware of extra costs *2017-06-15, version 7.8* Excellent app, but very limited features with the initial purchase. Summary - good for rhythms/monitoring, extra features like scenarios cost more. iPhone app (cost extra) can be used to control it if you have an extra person with medical knowledge. With the initial one, you can display all observations, ECG etc as shown in the picture and choose from the 25 rhythms. The X-ray, scenarios, and drugs features are all additional costs which should be made clearer in the app description. I use this app for practicing ALS. Adjusting the rhythm using this app during the scenario really ruins the realism so I also bought the remote app for iPhone which lets someone else control the scenario and change the rhythm and obs. This makes for a great system for ALS/monitoring purposes as long as you have an extra person available to use a remote app, bearing in mind they also need to have medical knowledge to be able to react to any treatment you give appropriately. Not yet bought the scenario feature but may do, the ability to create your own is particularly appealing so you can make and the obs change by itself. This is less useful if the clinicians practicing don't give the treatment expected; so if they are expected to give fluid and you set the scenario to increase their BP after 5 minutes but they then don't give any, it doesn't add up. So not without its flaws. ### 3/5 — Pretty good *2016-10-23, version 7.8* A few suggestions for improvement...I could have done with a tutorial to learn how to use. Converting the temperature to Celsius doesn't work (keeps converting 99F to 207C). It would actually be better if it could be set permanently to Celsius without swapping back & forth. For the PALS scenarios we need the option of intramuscular epi, as well as which concentration to use, especially for the anaphylaxis scenario. ### 4/5 — Very useful *2016-06-15, version 7.8* This really does simulate a defibrillator very well. It takes a reasonable amount of practice to get comfortable using it, but it beats the heck out of purchasing a rhythm generator/defibrillator! For ACLS/PALS classes, you'll want a monitor cable (AHA requires you verify monitor lead placement) and you'll likely want the 12 Lead and CXR in app purchases. I bought the drug option, also, which allows a complete code record but it takes me too long to enter the data; I'm old and it's easier for me to just scribble it down. The remote app now shows only a rhythm number rather than the rhythm name, meaning I have to write the number beside each rhythm change on the mega code scenario sheet. I've been being told it will be fixed "shortly" for many months. That's why it only gets 4 instead of 5 stars. Some tweaking would be helpful but overall it's a great app for teaching ACLS & PALS. ### 2/5 — Not good value for money *2016-06-04, version 7.8* I'm afraid whilst the concept of this app is great it's not executed well and the costs start to mount up. After purchasing the rhythms and drugs separately I expected a response e.g. the rhythm to change after administration of drugs. You are better off using your imagination than using this app - use the £20 to buy your friend a pizza and get them to test you instead. ### 1/5 — WARNING!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!!!WARNING *2015-12-09, version 7.8* This app is a rip off!!!! £18:99 just for the app, then you have to buy ever thing extra from app perches. Useless without the extras, just a bunch of rhythms. Take my warning do not buy, you will regret it. I am trying to get my money back. No chance! ### 3/5 — Great since update *2015-10-02, version 7.7* Since the update, the numbers on the pulse rate does not show it shows as "1... " Not sure why it does that. ### 4/5 — Really very powerful simulation *2015-09-16, version 7.7* I purchased this with the remote control app in the week prior to my own (and a group of my colleagues) ALS recertification course. Primarily we did this because our Zoll Monitor / defb was out of commission and we needed to simulate vital signs and rhythm in CAS practice. I have to say it worked perfectly when connected via our local WiFi. We were able to run through standard ALS scenarios and throw in manual complexity where we needed. We also were puzzled as to why the BP didn't immediately update but found that simply cycling the NIBP caused it to appear - this is probably something that should be modified so that the instructor can set an immediate BP should they need to. There are probably great help files somewhere but we didn't need them - ECG, CXR and medication functionality seemed to work fine. Ultimately being able to actually program scenarios (like in a full blown SIM centre does on say SimMan) would be great, but for a low cost medium fidelity solution this is outstanding. One suggestion - I agree with the comment that the monitor screen should have the ability to be decluttered so that it more closely resembles a clinical monitor. I recognise that this is the way it is because the programme has to work in stand alone mode, but it would be logical that its default display became more uncluttered when being controlled remotely. As far as I can see you wont be disappointed with this purchase. I have no vested interest in the programme or those producing it. Update - apologies - there is an in app purchase that allows you to create your own scenarios which I have yet to test. ### 4/5 — Great (possibly) App *2015-08-06, version 7.6* However, like others I use this app to teach paramedics and for ACLS classes. Each time there is an update some things look and/or work better, other times not so much. ### 4/5 — After update. Issues *2015-07-24, version 7.6* I use the app in teaching a paramedic class and it has been great but latest update has issues with EKG display dropping out when pacer is turned on and loss of audio. Hope there is a quick fix! Bluetooth is better, but now when I hit CPR the rhythm dumps out and won't come back. I have to reload the whole program. I love this sim, I teach ACLS & PALS every week, but with every update come 2 more problems. I took a star away because it doesn't react to proper or improper technique...ex shocking when not synced etc or wrong medication. I am unable to add my own films to the X-ray list. But over all an interesting app. I just wouldn't buy the Medications and if you have time I would make personalized scenarios.. Please fix the xray so i can put in other films. This may have been a good app but it’s been abandoned and not updated. The company doesn’t even respond to customer support calls for it. Every other feature in the app except squirting out a rhythm is behind a $20 or so paywall. Sorry I can’t afford to be throwing $20’s around to get a full simulator. If I wanted to pay $180 I would have just bought the windows key from your store. ### 1/5 — ABSOLUTELY APPALLING SUPPORT *2019-06-01, version 7.8* As a teacher- I bought the complete system will all add ons- I Confirmed with the developer if I can add my own X Rays and EKGs to the simulations. Once I had purchased the App -This feature was not enabled. The developer refused to acknowledge any email, did not respond to telephone conversations, did not reply to messages to resolve this issue. Completely useless APP for me !!! Buy something else ### 1/5 — Scenarios? *2019-04-29, version 7.8* I bought the additional 33 scenarios. They do not match any of the published AHA scenarios from 2015 and many of them don’t even have complete information. So I tried to build my own and discovered that once built, they cannot be renamed, reordered or the sequence of the information in the scenario reordered. The app is constantly crashing across all of the devices (some are newer than others). It will crash before I am able to input all of the vital signs. I tried contacting DARTSim via email and got zero support. All they did were ask simple questions like, “Is your device up to date with its current software?”, and had no solution for how to fix the problems. Now I have a 25$ app on 10 iPads that is completely worthless. Spend your money somewhere else. ### 1/5 — Rubbish *2018-01-18* You have a person in systole with all the parameters at 500. I like how cheap it is compared to other options out there. My department purchased iPads specifically to run this program. In the past we paid thousands of dollars on real defibrillators and rhythm generators. We auctioned off our Zoll monitors we used for training on ebay. We got 3 iPad AIR's and 3 new iPod touches and our department had plenty of money left over. Keep it up please. ### 5/5 — Incredible! A must have for ACLS & PALS Instructors *2014-02-20, version 4.8* As an ER Physician at UCLA I often rely on certain applications. This DART Sim application is one of them. As a PALS & ACLS EP instructor I found this application to be very useful. What I like the most is the X-ray function. I can upload any radiology image I want. I can also create my own scenarios specific to ACLS EP. Also, if you visit DART Sim’s website you can purchase 3 lead cables and defib/pacer pads that can connect from the iPad to your manikin. Just like any application there can always be room for improvements. I feel the application needs the ability to link an iPhone for remote control. I was told this would be available within the next few months. I was very happy to hear about this. The company is very responsive and professional. I noticed a reviewer stating they couldn't connect a Bluetooth keyboard. Its really not rocket science. I really can't see how someone can mess that up. There is a PDF file in the program to help with Bluetooth connection and programing. If you can follow directions you won't have any issues. If you run into any hiccups just contact the company directly. I spoke to support services and they helped me connect my iPad to an overhead projector so that I can enlarge the display for my class. They really went above and beyond.
