First the good news. The maps are very good (I think they use the OS data) - good detail for walkers with contours, features and critically, paths! Try using Google maps on Dartmoor and you just see one empty green space! Second your location is tracked accurately. I walked a known route and it placed me correctly at all times. The problem with the app comes with doing much else. You can plan a route but I can’t see how the app can be use to help guide you along that route (e.g. by showing a bearing or even saying head NE). Also most hikers usually do some on the fly route alterations while out and about. You can’t simply add a waypoint and get nav to it. Finally and probably most frustratingly it doesn’t record your track when you go on a walk - either one you’ve planned or an ad-hoc one. I had to use Runkeeper to do that. This is a key safety feature. If things go wrong in the mountains then the ability to retrace your route is key. But it’s also really useful to do a route in good weather and then save it for use again in bad weather when this app will be much more critical in getting you out and back safely. I’m hoping the developers will continue to add to the functionality. At the moment I’d recommend it but it could be so much better! **Developer response:** Thanks for taking the time to write a review. The latest release now has route recording functionality. ### 4/5 — Very good just started using it *2019-08-06* I have noticed one slight concern the firing ranges boundaries are not displayed this could be rather embarrassing nay terminal to plan a route whilst live firing is taking place. It is a bit of a faff checking on an OS explorer paper map. ### 4/5 — A good app with room to grow *2017-06-25* Really detailed map and as stated it's easy to add your own waypoints onto it for your desired route. I have tried importing routes but have been unable to. Probably just my understanding of the process at fault there. I would like to see as part of the packs some pre made routes or be able to share routes with other users mebe? **Developer response:** Thanks for the review comments. If you make contact via the send email functionality on the support website then we can try and resolve your gps import fault. Easy to use and very precise, you always know exactly where you are and what options are available to you ### 5/5 — Brilliant *2019-07-10* I have purchased various locations and use them a lot. The maps are detailed and the route plotting is really accurate - prefer the route this to the OS app which I also use a lot simply because these maps are restricted to certain locations. What they do better than OS is to switch maps as you zoom, why OS can’t adopt this I don’t know; it’s great to zoom out, navigate to a new location then zoom back in without ending up in a blank space with no markings! ### 5/5 — David Bartlett *2019-04-13* 10out of 10 excellent especially on a phone with a large screen, brilliant back up. ### 5/5 — Love it! *2019-01-29* I help with Ten Tor’s training (drive minibus and general support) . Setting the waypoints with this app together with the tracker our students carry helps me know roughly where they are. As you zoom in the detail increases right the way down to 1:10k. The route creation is simple and intuitive (unlike other apps I've tried) and the comprehensive search and hill details is amazing too with every detail of every hill covered (I've not found a hill that's not included). ### 5/5 — Dartmoor Map App *2016-02-20* Such a fantastic app. Worked brilliantly all over the moors, stopped us taking the wrong route on a number of occasion.
