## What is Dashboard?

Turn a wall-mounted iPad into a control panel for Apple Home. Cameras, heating, lights, blinds, locks, solar power and the calendar on one screen — arranged the way you want.

FREE LAYOUT
• Press and drag a tile anywhere. Every device on its own — two thermostats no longer have to sit side by side.
• Resize with the corner handle; contents scale with it.
• iPad has pages you swipe, iPhone one scrolling screen.
• A clock with the date as a tile of its own.

CAMERAS
• RTSP cameras outside HomeKit: standalone ones that never reach Apple Home. Enter the stream address and the tile shows live video, with audio over G.711 or AAC. H.264 and H.265: Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, UniFi, Axis, Tapo, VIGI, Synology.
• Find cameras on the network: ONVIF reveals the address, others are probed for usual paths.
• HomeKit cameras: refreshing snapshots, a Live button switches them all to live video, listen and talk back in detail.
• Doorbell like on Apple TV: a ring wakes the panel, opens the doorbell camera full screen and adds a column of locks and gates.
• Time-lapse from an RTSP camera, up to 12 hours, a video in Photos (Premium).
• Two cameras free, HomeKit and RTSP together.

YOUR HOME
• Thermostats: current and target temperature in half-degree steps; thermometers in °C or °F (2 each free).
• Lights and switches: brightness with a slider on the tile, colour and white temperature in a panel (Premium). A group from the Home app as one tile (4 free).
• Blinds and shades: position and slat tilt to the percent, Matter bridges too — KNX/1Home (4 free).
• Security: windows, doors, gates and contacts as one item reading Open / All closed (4 free). Alarm with Home / Away / Night / Off, no limit.
• Sensors: humidity, water leak, smoke, CO, light level and motion (4 free).
• Air quality: the rating in words plus measured CO₂ in ppm, particulates and volatile compounds in µg/m³.
• Scenes with one tap; the active one stays highlighted (2 free).
• Weather: a 6-day forecast and an hourly view of the day.

SOLAR POWER
Apple Home has no type for solar panels, but most inverters reach it as a light sensor through a bridge. Pick the unit (W, kW, %) and an icon — production, consumption, grid draw, feed-in, battery.

LOCKS AND GATES
Door locks, gates and garage doors (4 free). A tap opens a menu: lock and unlock as separate actions, open and close for gates. Nuki and tedee locks can open the door on a long press.

3D FLOOR PLAN (PREMIUM)
Upload a render of your home, place devices on it and control them by tapping the plan. Each floor gets its own tile, so two can sit side by side.

MUSIC (PREMIUM)
Apple Music player: playlists, recently played and recommendations. Choose the output through AirPlay. Needs an Apple Music subscription.

CALENDAR
A weekly view of a shared calendar (three days on iPhone), the next event highlighted, countdowns to important days.

24/7 DISPLAY AND LOOKS
The screen dims after a while and wakes on touch, the front camera or motion sensor. Light and dark mode follow the iPad; background and colours are yours.

BACKUP
Configuration goes to iCloud and loads on another device with the same account; with Premium as a file.

PREMIUM (YEARLY SUBSCRIPTION)
Unlocks the 3D floor plan, music, light colours, time-lapse, Shortcuts, separate layouts for iPad and iPhone and file backup, and removes count limits. The free version stays free for good, only with limits. Try Premium free for a week; a yearly subscription then starts and renews automatically. Cancel any time in Apple Account settings.

PRIVACY
No data collected, no accounts, no sign-up. Everything stays on your device and camera video travels over your own network. Only the weather is fetched, anonymously.

In 16 languages. Requires iOS 17 or later. Controlling devices needs an Apple Home; RTSP cameras work without one. Made for iPad in landscape.

### 5/5 — Like it. A Lot!

*2026-08-25*

Thanks for the suggestion and fast response, Jan. All works now and it’s awesome! Everything stays on the device, so it has just what I wanted for privacy too. Thank you.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

**Developer response:** Try switching the camera to the H.264 codec, and it should work. Jan

EDIT: Thanks for your reply and rating :) In the new version of the app, I'm adding support for the new H.265 codecs.

### 3/5 — Just ok

*2026-08-20*

I want this app to succeed, because it really is one of the best, however the camera never work when selected. Thumbnails work, but when you open the camera to view the app just spins. Need some updates to be worthy of premium use.

**Developer response:** Try switching the camera to the H.264 codec, and it should work. Jan

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-19*

This is in the works to be a truly great app. I’d love to see the forecast throughout the day in addition to the week look ahead. Also being able to add multiple weather locations would be a game changer. This is such a great app to repurpose old tech and boot up an old iPad.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the great review and for the new ideas. I'll see what kind of weather data I can retrieve. Jan

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.1 — 2026-09-01

The app now speaks sixteen languages, and a few things got noticeably easier.

• Croatian and Finnish: the fifteenth and sixteenth languages of the app.
• App language in settings: a row shows which language the panel speaks and opens system settings, where the language can be switched for this app alone.
• Zoom a full-screen camera with two fingers and pan by dragging.
• In the floor plan editor a device can no longer be dropped on top of another — it moves aside on its own.
• The doorbell keeps the call controls under the picture and the locks stacked on the right, within thumb's reach.

### 3.0 — 2026-08-31

### 2.4 — 2026-08-12

• Apple Music player (Premium): the dashboard has a new music block — playback, your playlists and recently played. You choose where it plays via AirPlay right in the app; the volume is the system volume, so it applies to a HomePod as well. Requires an Apple Music subscription
• Audio for RTSP cameras: cameras streaming G.711 or AAC now have sound too — you turn it on with a button in the camera detail. It plays only there and switches off when you close the detail, so you don't end up with four cameras talking at once on the wall
• Listen on HomeKit cameras: until now the audio came on only while you were talking and was muted again after the call. The detail view now has a button for listening on its own
• When camera audio is playing, the music stops and starts again once you turn the audio off — only if it was really playing before
• Dark app icon (iOS 18+): a dark version of the icon is used on a dark Home Screen
• Room name on tiles: the room appears in small type under the device name. It is left out when the room has the same name as the device, and for groups whose members are in different rooms
• Blinds in steps of one percent: both the position and the slat tilt are set in steps of 1% instead of 5%
• New languages: British English, Swedish, Dutch and Hebrew — the app is now available in 14 languages. Hebrew is the first right-to-left language, so the whole layout is mirrored in it
• A review of every language: 267 fixes across twelve languages — grammar, the forms used by live counters and the rename of Apple ID to today's Apple Account
• Thermometers: the settings now explain why a HomePod isn't among them — Apple doesn't make its temperature available to third-party apps, only the Home app can get to it
• A custom device icon now applies to tiles as well: you pick it in the Lights and switches settings or in the 3D floor plan editor, and it shows up in both places. It works for groups from the Home app too
• Locks have a menu like blinds: tapping the tile, or the icon in the floor plan, opens Lock and Unlock as separate items instead of the toggle you had until now. For gates and garage doors it's Open and Close
• Open door on the locks that can do it (Nuki, tedee): you turn it on for a particular lock in the settings and try it out right there. On the tile it is then triggered by touching and holding, not by tapping, so it can't be set off by accident on the wall
• The lock state updates on its own — unlocking with a key or from another app shows up right away
• Animated launch screen (iPad): when the app starts, a little house folds together and turns into the dashboard. Tap to skip it
• Tiles are the same height even where a device has the same name as its room

### 2.3 — 2026-08-04

• Time-lapse from an RTSP camera: start it in the camera detail with an interval from 5 s to 5 min and a length of up to 12 hours — the result is saved to Photos as a single video. It keeps running after you close the camera and after the display goes dark
• Locks and gates: a new section with tiles for locks, gates and garage doors — tap to lock or open; choose an icon for each one (lock, sliding gate, swing gate, garage door) that also applies to the 3D floor plan, where they can now be operated too
• Background choice: pick one of three built-in backgrounds in Appearance, each with a preview — your own color and photo from the library stay available
• An active scene is highlighted on the dashboard as long as its settings match the real state of your devices, so you can see what is currently on
• Camera detail opens instantly: the tile and the detail share one connection, so there is no longer a few seconds of black
• RTSP cameras: standalone cameras outside HomeKit — enter the stream address and the tile plays live video; works even without a HomeKit home. Supported are cameras streaming H.264 over RTSP, such as Hikvision, Dahua, Reolink, Axis, Foscam, Amcrest, Annke, TP-Link Tapo and VIGI, plus restreams from Synology Surveillance Station. HomeKit and RTSP cameras share the free-tier camera limit
• Find cameras on the network: in the Cameras settings tap Find cameras on the network — the app scans the neighbourhood and detects the stream address itself on ONVIF cameras; for the others it tests common paths, so usually you don't have to type the address at all
• Direct stream for HomeKit cameras: assign an RTSP address to a camera and its detail view plays the direct stream — sharper picture, instant start, no time limit, no audio yet
• Thermometers: choose a small or large tile for each one — the fixed Inside/Outside tiles are gone and your existing setup converts automatically; the label now shows the device name
• Temperature units: in the Thermometers settings choose °C, °F, or keep it automatic based on your region — applies to thermometers, thermostats, weather and the 3D floor plan
• Light brightness and colors (Premium): the large tile of a dimmable light has a new button opening a panel — brightness, color presets, custom color and color temperature; the tile now shows brightness in %
• Works for light groups from the Home app too — brightness and color are set for all members at once
• Share backup as a file (Premium): send your configuration via the share sheet (AirDrop, Messages…) and load it from a file — works across different Apple accounts, so the whole family can share the setup

### 2.2 — 2026-07-29

• New free-tier limits: 2 cameras, 2 thermostats, 2 thermometers, 4 sensors, 4 lights and switches, 4 blinds, 4 security items, 2 scenes and an unlimited alarm — Premium unlocks everything without limits
• Devices selected above the limit earlier remain in place
• The 3D floor plan editor now shows a tip on how to create the image (upload your floor plan to ChatGPT and have it create a 3D floor plan)
• New Thermometers section: small temperature tiles + large Indoor and Outdoor temperature tiles (2 free, unlimited with Premium)
• New Blinds and shutters section: control position 0–100 % and slat tilt — on tiles and on the 3D floor plan (4 free, unlimited with Premium; works with Matter-bridged devices too, e.g. KNX/1Home)
• Groups from the Home app: grouped accessories appear as a single tile and are controlled together (lights and blinds)
• New free Alarm section: Home / Away / Night / Off modes for any HomeKit security system (Aqara and others)
• New Sensors section: humidity, air quality, water leak, smoke, CO/CO₂, light level, motion and occupancy (4 free, unlimited with Premium) — everything from Apple Home can now be added
• The calendar on iPhone shows 3 days instead of the whole week — easier to read
• Switch and blind tiles are no longer hidden when the 3D floor plan is on — you choose what to show in the settings
• You can now rate the app right in the settings — thank you for every review
• Fix: radiator thermostats connected through a bridge (e.g. Aqara) can now be added as thermostats
• Fix: Tado radiator thermostats no longer switch off after changing the target temperature — the heating mode is set together with the temperature
• Fix: saving to iCloud shows clear error messages and resolves version conflicts
