Plus you can’t just use your usual map app like google maps or Waze **Developer response:** You set your destination in Apple maps (works the best, but Waze and Google work too), then switch to DashCam recorder. When you show the map in the App you see where you are while you receive driving instructions and record video 👍 ### 4/5 — Could have been 5 stars, but there are some glitches *2026-08-23* First of all, love this app. It does what it’s supposed to do. Straight to the point, no BS. But there are some glitches after the recent updates that have been bugging me. Whenever I switched to another app while using the dash cam, the screen turned black and couldn’t connect back to the camera after that. I could go on without switching apps, but it also happened when I received phone calls, which is unavoidable. There were some instances that I was driving, someone from my family called me, which I had to pick up, and it instantly blacked out the dash cam. Couldn’t reconnect while driving. Which is quite inconvenient. Could dev team fix this? Please. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback !! A new update is in the works, it's on the list. It used to save them to my photos, but it just completely stopped. ### 3/5 — Shuts down and restart by itself often *2026-06-02* When using the app, it constantly turns It’s recording off, and I have to close the app and reopen it to start recording again. **Developer response:** Hi there, could it be a memory shortage on your iPhone? Try to remove the App completely and download it again so all settings are "factory" standard, make sure you give the App permission to access Photo's, Camera, and Location data. Thanks! ### 4/5 — Please add the date and time to the display! *2026-05-15* I would love to see the option added to have the date and time displayed on the dash cam while in use And for that information to stay on the display on playback. It would also be nice if the speedometer display showed on the recorded clip. The one time I had an issue with somebody who was drag racing and passed me, and I went to take the clip to show the police, it did not show the speed that I was going so you could not tell how fast the other cars were actually going, and even the police said it would be nice to have that information that shows on the display while you’re driving to show on the recorded clip. In order for my speed to show on the recorded clip, I have to use screen record at the same time I’m using the dash cam. When I do that the speed that I am going while driving shows on the recorded clip. But we really do need the date and time to display on the dash cam while using it and on the clip that is saved it would be very helpful if there is an accident and you have to use that clip to show proof of what happened if the date and time were displayed on the recorded clip. I love this app, but I really would love it much more if they would display the date and time on the dash cam itself while using it, and if that information was visible on the recorded clip as well. So to the developers, if you are going to make any changes or upgrades to this app, please consider a date and time display at the top so that when using the dash cam and recording that information is on there, so just in case the clip needs to be turned over to the police, they have the information on the date and the time that the incident happened, and the speed we were driving. It would make this app so much better and I really hope you consider doing so. **Developer response:** Thanks for the long review :) The App already records everything you ask for, please enable watermarking (overlay) to record speed data and time on top of the video. This driving information is also embedded as a track in the video, use the free DashCam Player App to playback videos and see this information on the screen. DashCam Player shows where the video was recorded on a map, even your old DashCam Recorder videos have this embedded information. For infinite-loop recording you can enable crash detection auto-save but you would have to experiment a bit with the sensitivity setting. You can start your navigation App first (Waze, Apple, etc.), and then start DashCam Recorder. It will record video while you receive instructions, especially with Apple navigation you will also see the instructions displayed on the screen. Enable the map option in DashCam Recorder to see a map instead of the video screen. ### 5/5 — just what I’ve been looking for *2026-03-16* This app does everything I wanted in a dash cam. I am 100% satisfied. Beyond the features and ability to use an old cell phone, the developer respects my privacy - I appreciate that - a lot! I will recommend this to family and friends. I will also encourage users to buy a good mount; windshield or dash - a cheap mount will produce jittery images, not due to the app but rather the mount. **Developer response:** Thanks! Good advice, you need a good mount and ideally position it so the iPhone is in a cooler place during the summer, high on the windscreen in the airflow , or low on the dashboard over/near an airvent. ### 5/5 — Amazing *2026-03-13* Cannot thank the creator of this app enough. This does exactly what you want from an expensive dash cam but it’s free and has great, simple features. I’ve recommended it to my friends and they love it. Highly highly recommend. The lowest loop duration is 30 mins, whereas my dash is 3-5 mins which is all that’s necessary. Can this be lowered? **Developer response:** Thanks! A 30 minute loop is small, with a 5 minute video length you will have only 6 videos in memory before the oldest one gets overwritten. However with 4K recording it does take a lot of space, I will add a 15 minute buffer in the next version! Alternatively lower the video quality to HD (1280x720p) and enabled HVEC video compression to save memory. ### 5/5 — Great app and works well *2026-02-22* UPDATE: Developer response is bang on. User error on my part with the 30 minute overwriting / saving. The screen off does work too a few seconds after starting recording. The toggle does still keep resetting but I suspect I’m triggering that too. This app is genuinely superb. Does what it says and captures my commute really well using the wide angle camera on my iPhone. I’d prefer to have the phone screen turn off when it’s running is all - there is an option for it but when I toggle it, it just resets it when I open the app. Also, it’d be good if there was an option to keep overwriting the same video, or only save the most recent X mins of footage to Photos so I don’t end up with 3 x 10 min vids for my 30 min commute if that makes sense. Genuinely a great app though and does the job well. **Developer response:** Many thanks for the feedback! It will turn the screen off with the "privacy" toggle, but let me check if it remembers the last setting when you restart the app. If you enable "infinite loop" recording it will overwrite the oldest video, nothing will be saved in Photos so you can keep your album clean. Even its companion app, Dashcam Player, indicated the recording had no data on it. I activated the voice commands and that works perfectly. The only thing I suggest is to allow the voice command to add either static or custom text to the image or video caption field so that it can be quickly found among all the other videos and images. For example, if I have a close call, I would like to be able to say “save video close call”and have the video tagged with those last two words. Or, just add the word “Saved” to that field. Nice feature set, simple to use, has the features you’d want in a dash cam app. **Developer response:** Thanks 👍! ### 5/5 — It’s great looking set up maybe perfect *2026-05-21* Only complaint does record speed limit watching video ., Like look of it I tried recording with map on screen I love how it shows map on screen and still records while switching in map mode that’s nice option I love it and to use widescreen to record love that feature not many dash cams I tried have widescreen that option is important to have widescreen., I like to see more on phone dash cams have no use location to use speed limit while driving all dash cams I try out and this one requires you enable location to have speed limit enabled on show how fast your going., But one thing I love about it more it still works on operation system 15.5 I refuse to update my phone last time I update my phone my old phone that update took up all space on my phone I deleted eveything and still no space was open on my phone to use that update took it all up that is reason I refuse to use and do updates on my phone and tablet all times and updates are useless comes with trash I will never use can’t be deleted stuff I will never use., It uses Apple Maps maybe for update if there is day decide option for update one not important like it how it uses Apple Maps but have option in dash cam go into your Apple Maps favorites in dash cam shows where your going with gps while recording whole time choose what route to take if I’m going to use Apple Maps I use Apple Maps for gps have dash cam use Apple Maps favorites locations while using it if possible make Apple Maps option more useful in dash cam mode **Developer response:** Thanks for the great review! You could even enable Apple Navigation for spoken route directions, and then switch to the DashCam App with its own Map. You record video, while you receive directions and have the map in front of you. If you have an older iPhone which runs iOS 9.0+ look for "Movies and Maps Recorder". Also check out the macOS App "DashCam Player" so you can relate the recorded video to a route and position on the map. ### 5/5 — No Ads *2026-05-16, version 3.1* I’m extremely pleased with this DashCam.
