## What is Dataplicity?

Dataplicity helps teams support connected Linux devices after they ship, wherever the work happens.

Use the Dataplicity iOS app to find the right device, check live status, and take the next support action without going back to a laptop.

With Dataplicity you can:

- Search enrolled devices by name or ID
- See current device status at a glance
- Review service endpoint, heartbeat, user impact, and device monitor signals
- Acknowledge or escalate open incidents
- Confirm fixes when work is complete
- Open terminal access for a selected device when shell access is the fastest path
- Reach docs, help, and account settings from the app

Dataplicity is built for real support work: customer sites, production floors, field visits, and incident response. Start with the easy checks, understand what is happening, and keep the work moving from your iPhone or iPad.

Dataplicity access requires an active Dataplicity account and enrolled devices.

## Key features

- Remote shell access
- No dynamic DNS needed

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-03-01*

Signed up and verified my account online and the app crashes before I can do anything. Cant add a system because the app crashes when I press the button. iPhone 16 Pro Max and it doesn’t work. This is completely useless. It looks like at the time I downloaded and wrote this review, the App Store says they fixed the signup crash. I guess they just moved it to the next step of adding the device.

### 4/5 — Crashes

*2025-02-05, version 6.37.3*

Trying to sign up but the app crashes as soon as I start to enter an email address.

### 1/5 — Dose not allow you to sign up

*2025-01-09*

No sign up for service works

### 5/5 — Works great

*2021-12-16, version 6.33*

Easy to install and works straight off the bat, without the need to have ssh enabled. Never been a phone fiddler, but with full remote pi terminal access via the phone I think that’s all about to change.

### 5/5 — Excellent app!

*2020-07-31*

Works smoothly, does exactly as described.

### 5/5 — Best one out there...

*2020-03-13*

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2020-02-17*

### 5/5 — Awesome for Raspberry Pi

*2019-08-29, version 6.29*

Love it ❤️

### 5/5 — Buena herramienta

*2019-08-06, version 6.29*

## Frequently asked questions about Dataplicity

### What does Dataplicity do?

Dataplicity allows you to remotely access the shell of your Raspberry Pi from any network. It bypasses the need for dynamic DNS, port forwarding, or VPNs by using a secure, client-initiated websockets connection to its service.

### How does Dataplicity work?

A Dataplicity agent is installed on your Raspberry Pi. This agent establishes a secure websockets connection to the Dataplicity service. Your web browser then connects to this channel, providing you with remote shell access to your device.

### Do I need to enable SSH or open ports on my Raspberry Pi?

No, Dataplicity does not require SSH, telnet, or any other network services to be enabled on your Raspberry Pi. The agent is self-contained and does not open any local ports on the device, enhancing security.

### Is Dataplicity free to use?

Based on the provided information, the application is free. There are no mentions of subscription fees, in-app purchases, or advertisements.

### What are the benefits of using Dataplicity over traditional methods?
