### 5/5 — Works perfect for what I need

*2018-04-04*

Just remember to use "su <usernamehere>" to change to your main account rather than just the dataplicity default

### 4/5 — not always performing well

*2018-03-31, version 6.15*

hi guys,

generally a really helpful and easy to use app!

unfortunately my custom actions are not always working, even though i never change anything on my pi, nor do i turn it off, whatsoever.

of course it could be also fault of the raspi.. who knows

anyways PLAESE PLEASE, with sugar on top.

ADD A WIDGET SO THAT I CAN ACCESS MY CUSTOM ACTIONS WITH ONE CLICK.

I'd buy the app immediately 🔥

cheers,
student-like

### 5/5 — A great application

*2017-12-13*

This application helps me manage my test web server that I use before I publish my sites onto a hosting server.

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2017-11-25, version 6.7*

Very satisfied, easy to install, very good support.

### 5/5 — So easy to use

*2017-09-05, version 6.5*

The best option for remotely operating your pi

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2017-08-15, version 6.5*

I wanted to work on my rasp project over the web, I'm not very smart to do a port forwarding and still keep my network secure.
So I found out about Dataplicity in raspberrypi.org and they did all the work for me, set up my raspberry to communicate with their website and I can do what I was looking for.
The only thing is just as @CBinRVA said, all the traffic goes thru dataplicity servers, so no secrets I will keep from them.

### 4/5 — Just what I needed!

*2017-08-13*

Caveat: every command you run _will_ be sent through Dataplicity's servers, so if you have mission critical or sensitive work to do, I highly suggest a quick search on google for 'reverse SSH' or 'SSH tunnel' and going that route instead. No amount of convenience is worth an unintended or poorly timed loss of privacy.

The Dataplicity services in addition to this app allow me to access my SBCs (currently Raspberry Pis) inside my LAN without having to jump through a bunch of hoops like setting up a DMZ, configuring port forwarding, etc. Because Dataplicity provides a backend service to establish and maintain internet-facing connections to my devices, I can connect to multiple devices inside any given network regardless of whether or not I am behind NAT, forwarded ports, set up a DMZ and so on and so forth.

Dataplicity's service really does allow set-it-and-forget-it style console access to your home Raspberry Pis from anywhere on the web! And the app just makes it that much easier to work with your devices once setup is done!

### 4/5 — Buona ma il servizio molto costoso

*2017-07-09, version 6.3*

L'applicazione è ben fatta e tutto funziona come dovrebbe. Purtroppo il servizio è davvero costoso e per questo difficile da utilizzare in progetti grossi. Ci sono alternative meno curate ma molto più economiche.

### 5/5 — Thx

*2017-07-06, version 6.3*

Super app for remote access!!

### 5/5 — So easy to use

*2017-05-14, version 6.1*

Literally one of the easiest ways of going about home automation! The most simplest thing ever! Works so well

### 5/5 — Perfection

*2017-05-05, version 6.1*

Excellent <3

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-03-01*

Signed up and verified my account online and the app crashes before I can do anything. Cant add a system because the app crashes when I press the button. iPhone 16 Pro Max and it doesn’t work. This is completely useless. It looks like at the time I downloaded and wrote this review, the App Store says they fixed the signup crash. I guess they just moved it to the next step of adding the device.

### 1/5 — Dose not allow you to sign up

*2025-01-09*

No sign up for service works

### 1/5 — User-Interaktion schlecht

*2019-01-14, version 6.26*

Miserabel!
Wieder mal eine App, welche dei Eingabemaske so dämlich platziert, dass sie durch die Tastatur verdeckt wird.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2018-12-22, version 6.26*

Found this app when looking for an app to keep track of space and temp of my raspberry pi sure it would have been great but will not connect to my pi from the auto connect or the command line

**Developer response:** Hi there,
Sorry that you’ve run into trouble.

Could I please ask you to contact support@dataplicity.com so that we can understand the problem and get you up and running?

Best,
Elliot.

### 1/5 — Crashes, unusable

*2017-03-11*

I can't add my device (RP3). the app finds the device in my local network but it simply crashes when I try to add it. ( iPhone 6 IOS 10.2.1 )

**Developer response:** Sorry that you've run into an issue :( It may be the case that our updated apps have already fixed your issue, but if not, could you please let us know at support@dataplicity.com and we'll be super keen to get you up and running. :)

### 2/5 — Awful scrolling

*2019-04-16*

The app neither auto scroll not you can do it manually when there is no room on screen. At the moment app is useless for iOS.

### 2/5 — Good except for a few bugs

*2019-03-23*

Bug 1: In-Call Status Bar pushes the terminal down and hides lower half of special function keyboard (arrow keys, TAB, etc. ).

Bug 2: 3rd Party Keyboards of different height block bottom half of special function keyboard.

### 2/5 — Delete

*2017-10-20*

No way to delete devices. Unreachable devices stay that way.

### 2/5 — Interesting app, but...

*2017-08-26*

It works as advertised, and very well. No issues at all. But what good is the remote terminal on a Linux system without control, tab, escape, etc. keys on the keyboard? Add a proper keyboard--copy Prompt's if you must--and Dataplicity would be a 4-5 star app. Quibbles: font size should be a setting, get the colors right in the terminal, allow landscape mode.

### 4/5 — Crashes

*2025-02-05, version 6.37.3*

Trying to sign up but the app crashes as soon as I start to enter an email address.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great

*2021-12-16, version 6.33*

Easy to install and works straight off the bat, without the need to have ssh enabled. Never been a phone fiddler, but with full remote pi terminal access via the phone I think that’s all about to change.

### 5/5 — Excellent app!

*2020-07-31*

Works smoothly, does exactly as described.

### 5/5 — Best one out there...

*2020-03-13*

I have played with a lot of other software that offers remote access to Linux machines and by far this is the easiest to operate..

### 5/5 — Great

*2020-02-29, version 6.31*

Excellent design

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2020-02-17*

Very easy to setup! And very easy to use! I wanted to play and learn about linux when Im away from the computer. Since Im newbie I spend hours to find the app and still couldn’t figure it out. I was about to give up and dataplicity was my last try and boom it only took 5min!!!!! and works great!!! with my phone without using same wifi as raspberry pi!!! I personally never write reviews on web but Dataplicity saved me from nightmare !!!! Thank you!!!!! You guys deserve to get 5 stars!!!!

### 5/5 — Awesome for Raspberry Pi

*2019-08-29, version 6.29*

Love it ❤️

### 5/5 — Buena herramienta

*2019-08-06, version 6.29*

### 5/5 — Simple yet efficient

*2019-03-15, version 6.27*

Simple to setup. Easy to use and the app has a nice GUI. Would recommend

### 5/5 — So simple to use

*2019-03-11, version 6.26*

It does what it says on the tin - it is clear and simple - love it!

### 5/5 — Simplicity

*2019-02-21*

Dataplicity works very well as a convenient way to access a shell from practically anywhere. The phone access is great, but even better is the web access, as you have the luxury of a full size keyboard and such. Highly recommend.
