## What is Datatool?

Datatool is a Thatcham insurance industry approved GPS/GLONASS/GSM based tracking and theft notification service designed specifically for scooters and motorcycles but now with Journey History and G-Sense impact detection.

Datatool activates automatically as soon as the ignition is switched off and monitors the bike for signs of unauthorised movement. If movement is detected without the ignition being switched on and the bike is moved away from where it was parked, Datatool will enter full alert mode and notification will be sent to the dedicated 24/7/365 Datatool Monitoring Team.

In the event of a suspected theft, the Datatool Monitoring Team will contact the owner immediately and if a theft is confirmed, will liaise with the Police on the owner’s behalf to aid recovery.

The Datatool app allows owners to view the location of their vehicle(s), view journey history, enable the G-Sense alert crash detection, manage account details and communicate directly with the Datatool Monitoring Team.

I’ve been a user for over 6 years. The app works faultlessly with developers even listening and action on rider feedback. More importantly every single interaction I’ve had with the human side of this business has been first class.

Over all the app is a good companion for the tracker but using it as a tag has some issues as I keep getting calls for bike moving without a tag despite checking it had connected before setting off and the notification for connecting and disconnecting doesn’t always happen which is annoying so I have to look on the app to check for confirmation either way. 
It would also be nice if we got movement detection notifications through the app as an option instead of just having a limited number of text messages.
Also the map could do with being a bit more accurate as I’m finding the bike location is always 5-8 meters away from the actual location.

Have such a problem between app & bike . It’s very slow to react to changes. May not renew subscription. Had many contacts with them lots of apologies wanting to put me through to customer services but it’s a technical issue.  O well .

The app is good but when I go on an adventure ride with mates it would be great if it could have option to show the whole journey on the map for that day instead of the individual legs. Yep we stop for fuel, we stop for coffee and rest stops; I don't want to just see the individual stages, I want to see the whole trip. Hey and wouldn’t it be nice to see the total mileage for the whole day rather than have to manually sum up the mileage for each of the legs. Is the person scoping the features actually a rider because if so they’d know we want stats for the complete ride!

B. There is no way to cancel your subscription once you sign up, this isn’t mentioned anywhere in the app, website or the manual .. you have to phone them

Had this fitted just over a month now, it’s not very good as tracker over 40 miles now on several trips and it’s not logged several journeys and it’s not tracked my vehicle, and now it’s showing  vehicle at home ignition on and the vehicle is parked 10 miles away, got no faith now

The app constantly crashes, you cannot delete alerts when they are cleared, motion settings constantly shows „loading”. Journey history is often lost and reappears from nowhere. Also no matter which map you choose Apple or Google location is wayyyy off(it might be a 4G/3G issue so it is not a big deal) Any way it is not cheap to use, there are limited amounts of sms available on alerts. I give one star just because of perfect response from the helpdesk. Normally I would give 0 stars.

- Customers pairing a Defender alarm are now told clearly when the alarm's name has been changed and can call support straight from the pairing screen, instead of the pairing simply failing.
