Not User Friendly *2022-09-11, version 5.2.0* Datpiff has been a part of my life for years, I still listen to songs that I can only find on Datpiff. That said, the app experience lacks. The search function is such a manual process to find a specific mixtape, unable to filter properly. Moreover, I’m not sure if it’s only my Apple product, but trying to use the reset password on the DP app is confusing. I hit “reset password” only to be sent to their website on my web browser which takes me to a page that tells me to download the app….. I ALREADY HAVE THE APP WHY AM I BEING REDIRECTED TO THE DF WEBSITE ONLY TO BE INSTRUCTED TO DL THE APP! This circle makes zero sense. I’m not sure if the product/dev team test/qa these features prior to going live but you all seriously need work. ### 2/5 — Slightly broken app *2022-08-27, version 5.2.0* It’s very good as I’m able to search for and listen to music with no problem. The problem comes from when I try to like a song or mixtape, either the button doesn’t work or I get a error 401 message. Even when I try to make playlists so I can go back to previous music I get an error message and unable to save music. That makes it really hard for me to return back as I don’t want to search for the same songs over and over again. ### 3/5 — Would be 5, but *2022-07-04, version 5.2.0* Lots of changes have been made to this app for the phone and most have not been for the best. Since updating all my library and mixtapes have disappeared and will not load. You can no longer bookmark or save upcoming, or see what date it is supposedly dropping. Now they have weedmaps on there, and like why??? Makes no sense. Please fix or undo changes because although it has been not entirely user friendly and was doable now it’s just kind of dissatisfying. I use it less and less now because of these issues. This was my absolute favorite platform for music please save it! ### 3/5 — So far not thrilled… *2022-02-25, version 5.1.4* I will start off by saying that this is a very beautifully and well put together app. It’s easy to locate the albums and artists you are looking for. My only issue is that I just downloaded this an hour again and starting making a playlist only to find out that the app is glitchy or something because I couldn’t get the songs to play. It would play some and not others. It was very frustrating ### 3/5 — Fix playlist option *2022-02-09, version 5.1.4* Love the app but I need to be able to make playlists. Every time I try I just get an error message. I can’t even favorite songs either. I love the app- I don’t mind it being a little buggy every now and then if I can listen to all of the mixtapes for free, but I’d really like there to be a working playlist option ### 3/5 — App freezes/crashes every time I try to go to library *2021-12-15, version 5.1.3* This app is great. I love the selection of free music whether it’s a mixtape or album but I’ve noticed for quite some time now that every time I try to go to my library the app will freeze and then crash. Doesn’t even show me my library. Just freezes where it’s at then crashes. Only major bug that’s stuck around that I can see so far. I have the iPhone SE Gen 2. ### 2/5 — Extremely Buggy *2021-12-08, version 5.1.3* Pretty incredible to have this amount of music available from an app for free… with that being said, the app is almost unusable. You can only listen to one song before the app bugs out and plays a different song than the one that it is listed. Create some revenue streams through ads so you can afford to hire a tech team to fix these bugs. ### 3/5 — Love the music - Hate the App *2021-10-01, version 5.1.3* Love having access to the mixtapes that Datpiff has but none of the features that make an app more user friendly work (at least on a dependable level) When I like, download or add a song to a playlist it fails to work more often than it actually works. It’s annoying to not have all my fav mixtapes in one area or to make a playlist of liked songs but at least I can search and find great music. ### 4/5 — Few issues with the app but well with it for the music *2021-09-17, version 5.1.3* Love the app gives me access to lots of music that you can't just readily play while your phone is off. My issue is with how the app operates. It's hard to sort through your music for just specific songs and to actually shuffle your music in an order you'd like to play it. Also most times when I try to download a project the app closes. These are my critics but the app giving us these mixtapes that can't be on other music streaming apps makes this app well worth the download ### 3/5 — This app needs to be fixed *2021-07-31, version 5.1.3* Been A member of the app since 2012 took a break from this app for a while, and I come back and half of my downloads and liked mixtapes are not there, the app said that I can recover my downloads but it won't do it ever time I tap on that option it says something went wrong. I this app but Imma need whoever in charge of this app to fix this malfunction. ### 2/5 — Used to be great, now it’s basically useless *2021-06-21, version 5.1.3* Title says it all. I used to love this app, but now it’s barely useable. Read the other reviews, everyone has the same issues - playlists not working correctly (if at all), downloads not working, and now, half the tracks/mixtapes in my library don’t even play at all. Idk if they lost the license to play them or what, but forget trying to play any well-known artists/albums. This app used to be in my top-10 most-used. Now, I haven’t touched it in months. ### 2/5 — Buggy and constantly crashes *2021-05-20, version 5.1.3* I wanted to download some old mixtapes I used to listen to for work, every other time I tried to download a mixtape the app would crash. I kept reopening and retrying to get the music I wanted. Now today I’m at work and half the things I downloaded aren’t in my library, and some of the mixtapes I did download don’t have any content (the songs just won’t play, it says they’re all 0 seconds long) and according to the comments on those mixtapes they’ve been broken for 7-8 YEARS. The songs I can listen to are buggy too, it will show a different title and album cover than the song I’m actually hearing... Back in the day datpiff was the one, but nowadays it’s not the same and app just stinks. ### 2/5 — App only works on WiFi connection *2021-04-27, version 5.1.3* This app has been redesigned for close to a year as of this review. It still has the same issues it did when it was rolled out. - Can only play music when my phone is connected to WiFi. I have a 5G connection most of the time and I cannot stream music on this app unless I’m on a WiFi connection. - Can’t access my library and favorited mixtapes. Just says “no internet connection” even when I’m on WiFi. This issue just popped up this month. The app redesign looks good and I like how the music plays seamlessly with no load time in between tracks (great for actual mixed/blended tracks on mixtapes) but the two problems listed above really drag this app down. It’s been a year as well and these problems are still happening. The app needs a major “ironing out” of the backend issues for it to be good. ### 3/5 — DISGUSTED *2021-03-22, version 5.1.3* Every since you all upgraded the app it has been nothing but “ Pure Garbage “. It doesn’t give you the right mix tapes for the artists your looking up, it’s super slow, if you skip a song the album may stop and never comes back on and it’s almost a complete waste of time to even get on the app. A very disappointed long time user. ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2021-02-11, version 5.1.2* I have had the DatPiff app for years, and used the website previously. I used to enjoy the platform for discovering new music, and easily finding old favorites. The current version of the app is abysmal in both regards compared the user-friendly version we’re used to. I’ve added the second star because I have been successful in accessing my saved content for later playback. A couple of stand-our issues: - The “What’s Hot” feature no longer lets you sort by date. This is the biggest disappointment as it makes it very hard to find new music. Would love to see What’s hot this week, or this month - not, “here’s what’s hot right now and it’s an album for 7 years ago”. - The search tool is a disaster. Instead of sorting search results by popular, it appears to sort by key word so we have to scroll endlessly to find the relevant artist or mixtape. - What is the point of an “Upcoming” section if we can’t bookmark or save the content to access once released? It will just be lost in the library of this mess of an app. I’m sure the partners are kicking themselves for using the recent devs, but hopefully they can reach a mutual agreement to iron out the major wrinkles in the new version of the app. If another app solved the issues datpiff would disappear from my phone faster than it takes the app to load. I miss my music. ### 2/5 — Latest Update Ruined App for Me *2020-12-16, version 5.1.2* The latest update removed a lot of saved & downloaded tapes from my profile that Ill never remember the names of. Also, no one seems to be talking about the issue where you can’t scroll through another mixtape’s songs if you’re already playing something- since the song you’re playing is in the way. Doesn’t seem to be a way to stop/close the song, so you have to CLOSE THE APP TO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE. Haven’t even gotten to the ROUTINE crashes. ### 3/5 — Updates *2020-12-15, version 5.1.2* - Miss being able to double click and view the album art work. - Being able to resume play on an album which I was listen to. Very irritating when I have to search for a album which isn’t on the new release in which I was listen to. - have a playback option, a user always have to start all over again ### 3/5 — Close to Great.. Needs 1 Fix *2020-08-23, version 5.0.2* I love this app with pretty much everything EXCEPT when you try to save a song, the entire mixtape is saved to your library. This is no one to find just the songs I want to have saved, just a list of mixtapes I’ve “liked”. But then a couple years later in 2020 I re-downloaded it again, and the app isn’t the same as it used to be. I’ve seen a few reviews for this app and I agree how this needs to be fixed and not friendly user or whatever you guys do now. It’s already 2023 and this app still hasn’t got anything updated or fixed. I can’t play any DJ mixtapes or download them like I used to. Not one track is played from a certain mixtape that I wanna listen. Seriously DatPiff, please fix y’all app cuz this app is now ruined. It ruined the love of us hip-hop fans that this app is complete garbage and it wasn’t the same app before when we used to listen and download some of our favorite mixtapes. Now I know I gave it a one star but the fact that this app doesn’t even work anymore and it was once a great app now turned into a downfall… DatPiff if you guys are reading this, I seriously hope y’all understand and fix this app ASAP! ### 1/5 — Datpiff is dead *2021-12-29, version 5.1.3* Who is control of the site and the app design? They are running what was the go to mixtape place right into the ground. Not even going to go into detail on what is wrong and what doesn’t work because it is such trash nothing works. They keep removing features. So let’s all just stop putting ourselves through this misery and ditch this dead company. I wrote to them asking if they could fix the web issues and still no reply. The update they did do on the website didn’t fix anything besides change the way the ads are displayed. ### 1/5 — Please Fix this app *2021-05-29, version 5.1.3* This app has been one of my favorites for years…. And it was great for version 4.0-4.x.x But every since the 5.0 update…. This app is terrible, it’s difficult to access my playlist and liked mixtapes, and I also can’t find where to access my downloads…. My previous downloads won’t recover it says “Something happened try again”….. and when I download a mixtape I can’t find the list of downloads which means I can edit what I have downloaded and I can’t delete it,….. on too of all of that, it doesn’t work with CarPlay anymore…. DatPiff please fix this broken app ### 1/5 — The update has been the worse *2021-05-19, version 5.1.3* Ive been using this app for over 10yrs and this recent new update has been terrible. Its harder to find music. The music lags when it plays. I couldn't recover any of my saved mixtapes. In the “downloaded section” it shows every single song on the tape instead of just the ones I downloaded. The buttons are non responsive when Im trying to navigate through pages. Its just a total inconvenience & I wish I could get the previous version of the app back instead of this new “upgrade”. ### 1/5 — disappointing!! What happen over the years since the last time I’ve listened *2021-05-10, version 5.1.3* I’ve been using this app for years, left away from it for a little while and I come back to it & it’s just so not the same. I can’t listen to a whole mixtape without lagging of a song not being able to play or not available to play. This is not how I remembered this app being like. Just a few days ago I decided to get back on and as I’m playing a mixtape every time or most of the time when a song is about to end, It takes a lil bit for the next song to play or just won’t come on at all and skip to the next one or to a track that will play. In the early we hours of the morning b4 saying this, I was trying to listen to one of my favorite G-Unit radio mixtapes and I could not listen to not one song on that particular mixtape. This app seriously needs some fixing or upgrading to it ### 1/5 — So many bugs and glitches *2021-04-07, version 5.1.3* Been using DatPiff for a few years, has very exclusive music which I love. Otherwise, it is littered with bugs and poor user-friendliness. For example, i will be playing music from a playlist and the song that is playing, the art displayed, and the song listed at the bottom are all different. Like how is this still an issue, DatPiff has been around forever. Seems like they don’t even have a tech team. Other glitches like not being able to like a song or add it to a playlist are also frustrating. ### 1/5 — I’M OVER THIS APP!! *2021-03-02, version 5.1.3* I have had this app for years and at first it worked fine. For the last couple years however when I try to listen to a song, it doesn’t play. I can close out of the app and reopen it multiple times and still nothing happens. I’ve tried to give you all a chance to fix it and I kept the app hoping it would start working properly but at this point I’m deleting it. I’ll find another way to listen to the mixtapes I like. ### 1/5 — This is ridiculous! *2021-02-11, version 5.1.2* Ever since the most recent update yeah the layout looks a lot neater but everything else took a huge nosedive! It’s to the point where songs won’t even play! You guys to fix this ASAP!! *Update* nothing has changed. Music doesn’t play 90% of the time I use it and when it does it randomly closes the app and when you go back in the songs won’t play. I’m over it. The updates have seriously ruined this app. Looks nice but works like crap! ### 1/5 — review for V 5.0.2 *2020-08-09, version 5.0.2* •Do not like this update. Please bring back where you can tell if there are song’s missing when looking at the playlist. They use to be highlighted in yellow. There is no indicator for missing songs anymore. I don’t want to waste my time playing a CD that has a bunch of missing songs. •!Playback is also not great. It’s randomly stopping on the next song and I have to keep pressing the start button for it to play. Today it’s terrible. It does it both with app open and closed. •When it goes to a new song & the app is closed it’ll stop playing. On my lock screen I hit play & it’ll say it’s playing but no sound. I have to open it. Then it resets to 0 time and I have to press play. ### 1/5 — The New Update 👎🏾 *2020-07-31, version 5.0.1* Your new update is horrible literally cannot create a new account every time I try it says error 409 then I tried to access the app through my Facebook account that doesn’t work any more then tried signing in through my Apple account and it won’t let me download the songs I specially selected I can only download the whole album or mixtape please fix ASAP!!! Every artist, song and album that I have ever searched for has been found and fulfilled by the people that run this program. Please disregard the “ReViEw” written by Lalemdjak. Not only is his grammar abysmal; but he complains about the search feature using keywords and showing “the most relevant content.” And then at the same time complains about something he searched for showing the “hottest” music instead of what he searched for. Pick one buddy. This app is amazing and keeps me in tune with the albums I cannot stream with any paid service. That site is great and then came the app. When I first downloaded this app a few years ago it wasnt accessible or usible with voiceover at all. Until recently. And i am enjoying and loving the app. Please keep it this way and accessible. A suggestion. If theres missing songs in the mixtapes. instead of the song name it should say something like. Missing song. I think I ran in to a few missing songs and i didnt know and they wouldn't play. But im enjoying this app. Again. Though if you are into more current artists or albums downloading might require payment but overall this is not a problem. Plays music when you exit the app AAANNNDD it allows you to change songs too! It’s got ads BUT what you expect for a FREE app... tf?!? They gotta get bank somewhere... you can also download the songs and albums too!! Smooth operating interface too. I like it. I would improve the search song feature to give it more freedom and pick up on close generalizations from key words. It seems sometimes that you have to be pretty exact to find what you want.
