## What is DawgDining?

Dawg Dining is unofficial. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the
University of Georgia. Menus, nutrition and allergen information come from UGA Dining Services'
published menu feed.

Six dining halls, every meal, every day — with the nutrition actually read rather than
reprinted.

WHAT'S OPEN, RIGHT NOW
The hall that's open and nearest to you leads the list, with the meal it's serving and the time
it closes. Grant location and the list sorts by distance; skip it and everything still works.

A SCORE THAT MEANS SOMETHING
Every item gets one number, 0 to 100. It weighs how healthy the food is — sodium, saturated
fat, sugar and fibre against the FDA Daily Value — against how it fits your own calorie and
macro targets, and what its ingredient list contains. Trans fat or a restricted additive caps
the score outright, however well the rest of it reads.

The number moves with you, not just with the food. Pick the bodybuilder split and protein
leads. Leave the default and how healthy the food is leads instead.

An item that publishes no nutrition gets no score. It shows a dash, never a zero — a guess
dressed as a number is worse than no number.

FIND IT FAST
Filter for high protein, heart healthy, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. Sort a whole hall by
protein. Search a menu by name. Set the allergens you avoid and items containing them leave the
menu entirely.

FULL NUTRITION FACTS
Calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium, fibre,
sugar, and the minerals, laid out the way the label is. Plus what's in it: allergens from UGA's
icons, and ingredient flags for additives worth knowing about.

TRACK WHAT YOU ATE
Log an item in two taps, adjust the portion, and watch the day fill in against your target.
Calories, protein, carbs and fat go green as you hit them. Your daily target comes from the
Mifflin–St Jeor equation using your height, weight, age, sex and goal — bulk, maintain or cut.

SCAN A MENU SIGN
Point the camera at the sign above the counter and the app reads it, matches what it finds
against today's menu, and offers to log it. All on your device.

APPLE HEALTH, IF YOU WANT IT
Import height, weight, age and sex instead of typing them. Send the meals you log back to
Health. Follow the energy your Watch records, so your target rises on the days you move. All
optional — nothing here needs it.

NOTHING IS COLLECTED
No account. No sign-up. No analytics, no advertising, no trackers. Your profile and your log
are files on your phone, and the only thing the app talks to is the menu feed itself.

A NOTE ON WHAT THIS CAN'T DO
Calorie and macro targets are population estimates, not medical advice — individual needs vary
by around 10% even when every input is exact. Allergen information is only as complete as what
UGA publishes, and some items publish no ingredient text at all. An item showing no warning has
not been proven safe: always check with dining hall staff. Hours cover the regular Fall and
Spring week, so holiday and break closures aren't reflected.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### Beta 1.3 — 2026-10-01

A quick first-launch walkthrough, ending on the best match for you — plus contextual tips along
the way and a plain explanation of why the app wants your camera, before it asks.

Barcode and manual food logging — scan a packaged item's barcode or type one in by hand for
anything the dining halls don't serve, backed by Open Food Facts and a personal food list that
remembers what you've logged before. Barcode figures are now read straight from each product's
own unit and cross-checked against its label.

Fountain drinks — every Coca-Cola Freestyle flavor, sized to your cup and ice, alongside each
hall's other drinks in one Beverages sheet.

O'Hacienda meal builder — build a burrito, bowl or quesadilla ingredient by ingredient and log
it as one entry. Avoided allergens are now flagged rather than hidden, and every item's nutrition
panel shows % Daily Value.

Sort by carbs or calories, not just protein — whichever fits what you're tracking.

Your activity level can now be suggested from a week of Apple Health data, one tap to accept, and
everything behind your target — the math, the macros, the timeline — lives in one "How your
target is calculated" sheet.

More accurate hall hours: Bolton's upstairs stations drop out after 9 pm, and Hillside only shows
Late Night on the nights it actually runs that late.
