About

Most sleep apps hand you a number in the morning and leave you with it. Dawnline shows you where that number comes from — and how certain it is. Every number explains itself Tap any value and the arithmetic appears beneath it: the formula, the inputs it used, and the nights it rests on. Total sleep names every individual stage that went into it. The score names all seven components with their points. Nothing goes into it that you cannot see. Confidence instead of false precision Not every night is measured equally well, and Dawnline does not pretend otherwise. Each night carries how dependable it is and why: a continuous recording with detected sleep stages is not the same thing as a few fragments from two devices. What was never measured appears as a gap, not as a zero. And an analysis that still needs more nights tells you how many — rather than showing a number that isn't one yet. Your score, fully disclosed Seven components with fixed weights: duration 34, regularity 22, efficiency 14, continuity 12, and 6 points each for deep sleep, REM and the detected sleep stages. The whole table lives in the app under "About the calculation", together with the reasoning behind every single weight. Today The night ring draws your night as one calm arc, from going to bed to getting up. Beneath it sit the metrics: total sleep, efficiency, continuity, deep sleep, REM, time to fall asleep, awake time after falling asleep, awakenings and sleep midpoint. Each one leads to its own explanation. Trends Across weeks you see what a single night cannot show: how regular your sleep is, how far your sleep midpoint scatters and which way it is drifting, how much sleep debt has built up against your goal. The weekly comparison also tells you whether a difference is larger than your usual variation — or only looks that way. All of it stays correct across midnight and on the two daylight saving days each year. On your wrist and on your Home Screen Apple Watch shows your score and the numbers of the night, with a complication for your watch face and widgets for Home and Lock Screen. They all show the same numbers as the app: they do not calculate on their own, they pass values along. Privacy here is not a setting, it is the architecture Dawnline has no account, no server and no networking code. Apple Health is the only data source, and it is read only. No subscription, no ads, no tracking. Your sleep data never leaves your device, because there is no path by which it could. Dawnline is not a medical device and does not replace medical advice.

What's New in Dawnline

5.0

September 7, 2026

This version answers the question a sleep app answers least often: where does the number actually come from? Every number now shows its arithmetic. Tap a value and you see the formula, the inputs it used, and the nights it rests on. Confidence per night is new: you learn not only how your night was, but how dependable that statement is and why. Missing measurements are no longer zeros. Where nothing was measured, it says so, and an analysis that still needs more nights tells you how many. Regularity, sleep midpoint and the weekly comparison now stay correct around the clock — across midnight and on the two daylight saving days each year. Widgets and the complication show exactly the same numbers as the app. About the score: 5.0 calculates with a new, fully disclosed weighting — duration 34, regularity 22, efficiency 14, continuity 12, and 6 points each for deep sleep, REM and sleep stages. Your points may therefore shift compared with 4.0, including for past nights, because the score is recalculated on every launch. Which component carries how much weight is set out in full in the app under "About the calculation". No longer included: the sleep lab with snore analysis, the Smart Alarm on the watch, and the trend view on the watch.
