## What is Dawnova?

Your apps stay locked until you've been outside.

Dawnova is a morning sunlight tracker with an app blocker built in. Choose the apps that hijack your mornings — when your alarm goes off, they're locked. Take 15 steps, get a few minutes of daylight, and they unlock.

Three minutes, once a morning. That's the habit.

WHY MORNING SUNLIGHT MATTERS FOR SLEEP

Morning light is the strongest signal your circadian rhythm has. Light in the first hour after waking sets the internal clock that decides when you'll feel sleepy tonight. A typical indoor room measures around 179 lux, while an ordinary overcast day outside is about eight times brighter.

HOW THE MORNING ROUTINE WORKS

Your alarm goes off and the apps you selected are blocked
15 steps confirms you're actually out of bed
Go outside — the light timer runs on your real sunrise time and today's weather
Apps unlock, streak logged
Before bed, your apps pause again until you've done one breathing session
EVENING WIND-DOWN: BREATHE TO UNLOCK

The same apps pause again before bed. Choose when it starts — 30, 60 or 90 minutes before your bedtime — and they stay locked until you finish one guided breathing session. Skip the breathing and they stay paused until midnight.

It's the evening half of the same idea: decide before the evening starts, instead of negotiating with yourself mid-scroll.

SCREEN TIME PERMISSION

App blocking uses Apple's Screen Time API. Dawnova asks for it only if you turn on app blocking, and it's used for one thing: to shield the apps you picked during your morning and wind-down windows. Your app choices never leave your device, and Dawnova cannot see what you do inside other apps.

SLEEP INSIGHTS YOU CAN ACTUALLY TRUST

Alcohol, late dinners, stress and caffeine move your sleep more than any habit does. Dawnova lets you tag last night in five seconds, then compares like with like:

"On clean nights, morning light before 8:30am gave you 7h 22m. Without it, 6h 48m."

When there isn't enough data, it tells you. We say "associated with," never "caused."

WINTER MODE FOR DARK MORNINGS

Dawnova estimates today's real daylight from your location and cloud cover, then scales your target — 3 minutes in bright sun, 10 minutes on a grey winter morning. With no usable daylight, a light therapy lamp session or the movement check unlocks your apps instead. You'll never be locked out because it's dark outside.

DESIGNED FOR EARLY RISERS

Wake at 5:30? Dawnova splits your morning into a wake check you can always complete and a separate light window scheduled at civil dawn. If you wake at 4am and can't fall back asleep, Dawnova flags that bright morning light may be making it worse and adjusts your plan.

APPLE HEALTH SUPPORT

Reads sleep duration, HRV and resting heart rate from Apple Health — so an Apple Watch, Oura, Whoop or anything else that writes there feeds your insights. No tracker? The habit, blocker, streaks and breathing all work without one.
