## What is Day?

Rate your day in seconds. See your patterns at a glance.

DayRater makes daily reflection effortless with our unique vertical slider and premium haptic feedback. One simple interaction reveals profound insights about your emotional patterns.

How it works
Open the app. Drag our vertical slider to rate your day (-2 to +2). Feel the custom haptic feedback. Tap the number to save. Add a reflection note if you want. Done in 10 seconds.

NEW: Deeper insights
A monthly calendar heatmap shows your rated days at a glance — swipe between months to spot patterns you'd never notice day-to-day. Day-of-week analysis reveals which days tend to be your best and worst. Streak records track your current run and personal best.

NEW: App lock PIN
Set a 4-digit PIN to protect your reflections. Unlike device-level app locks, this works even if someone knows your iPhone passcode — ideal for shared households. PIN-only by design, no biometric bypass.

Home screen widgets
Add DayRater to your home screen. The small widget shows today's rating, color-coded and clear. The medium widget adds your current streak — a quiet motivator that rewards consistency. Widgets update the moment you save a rating.

Daily reminders
Turn on a gentle evening reminder in Settings. DayRater will ask "How was your day?" at a time you choose. No pressure, no guilt — just a nudge to take 10 seconds for yourself.

Why DayRater is different
Most mood trackers overwhelm you with questions, prompts, and notifications. DayRater liberates you with thoughtful constraints. One rating per day creates focus, not limitation.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-07-29

Your reflections are now something you can read back.

Tap any rated day in the monthly calendar to revisit it — the rating you gave, and the note you wrote that day. The calendar isn't just a heatmap anymore; it's a journal you can open.

And once you've been rating for a year, Insights will greet you with On This Day: what you wrote on this same date last year. A small moment of perspective.

The Today screen is also more reassuring — after you save, it quietly confirms "Saved · tap to edit," so you always know where you stand.

Your data is still completely private and on-device. Nothing has changed there.

### 1.3 — 2026-04-07

DayRater now sees more of your story.
A new monthly overview shows your ratings as a color-coded calendar — swipe between months to see your patterns at a glance. Day-of-week analysis reveals which days tend to be your best and worst, once you have enough history. And a dedicated streak section tracks your current run, your personal best, and how many days you've rated in total.

We've also added an app lock. If you share your device with family, you can now set a 4-digit PIN to keep your reflections private. It's separate from your device passcode — so even if someone knows your iPhone PIN, your daily reflections stay yours.

Your data is still completely private and on-device. Nothing has changed there.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-04-03

Fixed a bug where switching between tabs seemingly would reset your rating display. (Your data was always safe — it was just a display issue.)

### 1.2 — 2026-03-09

DayRater now comes to your home screen. A new widget shows your rating for the day at a glance — in a small or medium size, whichever suits your setup. The medium widget also shows your current streak, a quiet reminder that consistency matters.

We've also added a daily reminder you can turn on in Settings. Pick a time that works for you, and DayRater will ask "How was your day?" once a day. It's gentle, it's optional, and you can turn it off whenever you like.

Your existing reflections carry over automatically.

### 1.1 — 2026-02-19

NEW IN 1.1 - A 2026 Modernization Update
- Updated for iOS 26. The slider now uses Liquid Glass for a beautiful, native feel. Tab bar, navigation, and sheets all inherit the new system design automatically.
- Under the hood: improved sheet presentation stability, better error handling throughout, and cleaned up code for long-term maintainability. Still works great on iOS 18+.
