This is the app for a PUBLIC transit system I already pay for — through my fare and my tax dollars — and somehow that wasn’t enough for you. You looked at riders standing on a platform, just trying to find out when the next train comes, and you saw ad inventory. That’s it. That’s what we are to you now: eyeballs to be sold. Checking a train time is not a premium feature. It is the entire reason this app exists. Walling it behind an ad is like a library charging you to open a book you already bought. WMATA didn’t run out of money and get creative — WMATA sold out. You took a service the public funds and rented it back to us with commercials, then had the nerve to call it an app. Nobody opens a transit app to get marketed to. We open it because we’re late, it’s cold, and we need to know if we sprint or wait. And you decided that moment — that exact moment of need — was the perfect time to make a buck off us. Shameless. We hoped on Bus 29N first and met a wonderful driver. He was friendly and helped us navigate your system. The next day we were trying another route, 29G, and low and behold the driver was the sane as the day before. His name is Lawson. He needs to be commended for his friendliness and helpfulness. Its route through Georgetown & GWU has many visitors from out of town including those seeking medical evaluation. The bus drivers are uniformly knowledgeable, helpful & efficient. Their patience with people who are overwhelmed by the traffic, schedules of different transportation options is above what I have observed in many cities in US & abroad. My 1st difficulty in more than a decade using Metro bus & train was last evening (Wed 11/12) at 8 pm. I went into Clarendon Metro station to check on time it opened since I had an appointment at 7:15 am & Metro website says individual stations may have different opening & closing times. The kiosk had a msg card stating the Metro station attendant was away & would retuned shortly. I waited for 45 min. & finally returned home & took my chances with the am train. It worked out OK in spite of a separate incident leading to Metro police arriving & train stopped for almost 10 min. Staff were so calm during entire incident. Metro & ARL do a great job. I get it, you have to have ads if you want the app to remain “free”. It’s annoying especially when you’re in a hurry, but whatever. But oh my god, the little X at the top right corner to exit the ads is so close we can barely click on it. I get irate every time. If they could at least make it to where the ad goes away after a few seconds or at least just move it down and away from the edge of the screen. Because now is not the time I’m wanting or willing to succumb to an ad, let me find my bus. ### 5/5 — Missing Bus Route W8 *2023-05-03* Dear Developer, When I downloaded this app a few years back, the bus route for the W8 schedule was available to view. I am not sure what happened, but now the bus route has disappeared. I typed W8 route in the search engine of the app and the route directions does not appear. It only appears for the W6 route instead. As a disabled rider with mobility issues the W8 bus stops in front of the building I reside in. Since being disabled I have to come to rely on this bus and rail to get to and from where I need to go on a weekly basis. Rectifying this issue would be beneficial to my neighbors as well as others that utilize this bus route for their needs as well.
