## What is De?

De-Ad blocks ads in Safari without ever seeing what you browse.

Most ad blockers inspect your traffic to “fix” websites.
De-Ad doesn’t.
We provide the rules. Safari handles the blocking. Your browsing stays private.

Built on Safari Content Blocking. No VPN. No proxy. No certificates. No traffic interception. No compromises.

Zero-Knowledge Architecture
• No browsing history access
• No click tracking
• No analytics or telemetry
• No data collection. Ever.

Precision Blocking
• ~196,000 rules across multiple Safari content blockers
• Aggressive ad, tracker & beacon blocking
• Blocks fetch/XHR tracking beacons most blockers miss
• Content-safe filtering to avoid site breakage
• Instant per-site whitelist control

Stacked Protection
De-Ad ships several Safari content blockers that work together, so it isn’t limited to Safari’s single-list rule cap. After installing, enable every De-Ad blocker in Settings ▸ Safari ▸ Extensions — the app shows you how.

Why De-Ad?
• Open source. Rules are fully transparent
• Lightweight - zero background processes
• Offline-first. Updates only when opened.
• No accounts. No subscriptions. No “acceptable ads.”

Optional Pro (One-Time Unlock)
De-Ad is free forever. Pro helps support development:
• Exclusive themes (Band, Cyber, Neon, Retro, Glitch, DE-AD)
• Protection scope dashboard
• Future customization features

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5.1 — 2026-08-30

Version 1.5.1 blocks more, with every blocklist refreshed.

- 3,269 more ad and tracker domains blocked
- Around 196,000 blocking rules across four Safari content blockers
- Every source list refreshed with the latest rules
- Safari's per-blocker space is used more efficiently, so more of it goes to blocking
- Built-in exceptions in every blocker keep sign-ins, video players and checkouts working

Every release is verified against a list of sign-in, payment and CDN hosts that have to keep working.

No VPN, no traffic interception, no data collection. Safari does the blocking; your browsing stays private.

### 1.5.0 — 2026-08-15

Version 1.4.9 puts every Safari blocker to work, and extends Site Rescue across all of them.

- Site Rescue now applies to all four blockers at once, so a rescued site loads the way the site intended
- ~196,000 blocking rules, up from ~163,000
- All four blockers now run at full capacity — none of Safari's allowance goes unused
- Added AdGuard's tracking protection list as a source, and refreshed every other list
- More built-in exceptions in every blocker (4,019, up from 1,897), keeping sign-ins, video players and checkouts working
- A leaner install, and Site Rescue saves without a pause

Every release is verified against a list of sign-in, payment and CDN hosts that have to keep working.

No VPN, no traffic interception, no data collection. Safari does the blocking; your browsing stays private.

### 1.4.9 — 2026-08-06

### 1.4.8 — 2026-07-23

Version 1.4.8 puts Safari's spare blocking capacity to work.

De-Ad ships four Safari content blockers, and Safari limits each one separately. Two of them were full while another sat mostly empty, so thousands of known ad and tracker domains were being cut for lack of room. They now move into whichever blocker still has space.

- ~163,000 blocking rules, up from ~147,000
- Nearly 17,000 ad and tracker domains that used to be cut are now blocked
- Every domain the source lists rank now ships
- Rules refreshed from all upstream sources
- Fixed a Site Rescue bug that could mangle certain domain names when saving them

Compatibility is unchanged. The built-in exceptions that keep sign-ins, video players and checkouts working are still applied, in every blocker.

No VPN, no traffic interception, no data collection. Safari does the blocking; your browsing stays private.

### 1.4.7 — 2026-07-10

Version 1.4.7 fixes sites that broke in 1.4.6.

The last update added a lot more blocking, but it went too far and broke some pages — surveys, embedded video players, cloud consoles and a few sign-ins could fail to load. This release fixes that:

- Respects each blocklist's built-in exceptions, so sign-ins, video players and checkouts keep working
- Tracker rules no longer block the site you are actually visiting
- No more over-blocking entire services like cloud apps and survey tools
- Pages that refused to load now open normally

Ads, trackers and beacons are still blocked just as hard. Ad blocking is free forever; optional themes now live in Settings.

No VPN, no traffic interception, no data collection. Safari does the blocking; your browsing stays private.
