Terrible app
It’s pathetic. I’m not even going to mention that this new app makes news look like entertainment instead of an actual newspaper. Because there’s plenty of concrete technical issues that cause endless frustration. Many times, I’m unable to get the day’s edition prior to, say, 10:00 AM CET. Every day, when I open the app, I need to go to the Home Screen to manually select that day’s edition because somehow the app can’t check what day it is? And just now, I followed a link sent by a friend to an article, which opened the app to said article but now I’m stuck. I can’t get to the Home Screen anymore. I quit the app several times and still no cigar. I assume I’ll have to reboot my iPad. I want my money back.

Bedankt voor uw bericht. Er zijn ook veel artikels te lezen zonder abonnement. Onze basisverslaggeving over het nieuwe coronavirus en nieuws zijn voor iedereen toegankelijk. Maar kwaliteitsvolle journalistiek kost geld. We zijn dankbaar dat steeds meer lezers ons daarin steunen. Nooit eerder kon onze krant zoveel abonnees bedienen als vandaag. Hen bieden we dagelijks meerwaardeverhalen, analyses en opinie aan, ook over de strijd tegen Covid-19. Dat blijven we doen.

While the recent update promised a great user experience, reality is somewhat less.
Most frustrating are the very regular crashes; they appear most frequent when the article contains copies of Twitter messages.
Some articles will simply not load, regardless if one uses data or wifi. The only solution is to close the app, reopen it and scroll down to the article again, which is painful when the article is located well down the list.
I don't like that neither the 'must read' list, nor the 'news categories' are in chronological order. It requires an endless scroll through a list in a seemingly random order to ensure no important -- to me-- article is missed! Reporting value is good, which is why I still consult the app at least once a day.
