## What is Dear Memories?

Dear Memories keeps your photos and videos in your own Amazon S3 bucket — not on our servers.

Thumbnails stay on your iPhone so your library stays fast. Originals live in S3 until you open them.

• Import from the Photos app
• Browse by day, month or year, with albums and favourites
• Back up photos, videos and Live Photos to S3
• Open an item to download the original, with a cache size you control
• Sync another iPhone from S3 when you need it

You bring your own AWS credentials and bucket. Dear Memories never hosts your memories for you.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-09-27

This update makes large imports faster and keeps dates and video lengths after a re-index.

• Library sections show dates as 2026, July 2026, and 13 July 2026
• Import copies each video only when backup is ready, so later batches stay fast
• Re-index no longer brings deleted videos back as blank tiles
• Re-index keeps capture dates and video length

### 1.0.3 — 2026-09-15

This update keeps backup running until every remaining photo is done, and fixes sync gaps between devices.

• Backup now continues through remaining photos one at a time
• Stops false “file doesn’t exist” errors after import
• Re-index S3 so a new iPhone can sync the full library
• More reliable uploads with 64 MB parts

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-12

This update makes S3 backup more reliable and uses fewer requests.

• Timed-out or dropped transfers are retried automatically
• Catalog index updates are batched, instead of writing after every photo
• Sync from S3 in Settings matches the other backup actions

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-09

This update makes importing and backup faster and more reliable.

• Import as many photos and videos as you like — the 50-item picker limit is gone
• Backup to S3 starts as soon as each item is imported, instead of waiting for the whole batch
• After the first library scan, the S3 catalog is saved so later syncs are much faster
• Large originals upload in bigger chunks, so backup needs fewer requests
• Bug fixes and performance improvements

### 1.0 — 2026-09-02
