## What is Decaud?

Most players display the label on the file. Decaud looks deeper. TrueHz analyzes decoded audio for signs of lossy compression or upsampling, helping you assess the quality behind the format label.

Decaud is a music player for people who care how their files actually reach their ears: hi-res lossless, DSD, and a signal path you can inspect at any moment.

KNOW WHAT YOU'RE HEARING

• TrueHz analysis decodes each track in full to verify its real quality
• The verdict lives on every row in your library
• Real-time analyzer, goniometer, phase, and LUFS meters
• Tempo, key, and tuning detection

BUILT FOR SOUND

• An honest signal path: every stage between the file and the output, each with its own verdict
• FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, DSF, DFF, APE, WavPack, and more
• DSD plays through high-quality PCM conversion, labeled honestly in the signal path; TrueHz analyzes the DSD stream natively
• Gapless playback, optional crossfade, and headphone crossfeed
• Dithered bit-depth reduction, ReplayGain, and a 10-band equalizer

MORE WAYS TO LISTEN

• Internet radio from Radio Paradise, SomaFM, FIP, and your own stations, with live titles and covers
• Station creates an endless session from your own library, chosen locally by sound
• Classical browsing understands works, movements, and composers
• The waveform is the seek bar

ANYWHERE IN THE HOUSE
• Stream from NAS and SMB shares and DLNA servers
• Cast to AirPlay, Chromecast, Sonos, and other DLNA renderers, with lossless delivery where the receiver allows it
• Control your Mac library from your iPhone over the local network
• iCloud keeps your catalog, ratings, and artwork on your devices in your own account. Sending audio is always a separate, explicit action

A LIBRARY THAT STAYS YOURS

• Import and play music you own
• Serious tagging, Discogs and MusicBrainz matching, AcoustID identification, and DSF metadata
• Smart playlists, synced lyrics, and compilations
• Your listening history stays private, with optional export to a server you host

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

No account. No analytics. No tracking. Online metadata lookups are opt-in and send text or audio fingerprints only, never your audio.

Decaud is free. No subscription, upgrade, or feature is behind a paywall.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-09-04

- Shows your Mac's whole library over Wi-Fi, no iCloud needed: songs play from the Mac at home and can be downloaded to the iPhone, with progress on each row and honest status if a transfer stalls.
- Adds CarPlay browsing and playback for songs Decaud can actually play from the iPhone or an attached USB-C or SD drive, with alphabetical ranges for long lists and a catalog that follows drives as they connect.
- Filters Songs and Albums by location, quality, and favorites. Albums gains a Grid/List view menu; Songs gains sorting by title, artist, date added or year, with optional format labels.
- Adds favorite artists, an Artists filter, a search field under every title, a fixed A to Z index, and calmer song rows that show formats only on request.
- Makes Remote its own screen with an Exit, so the Mac's transport never sits under the phone's own player.
- Keeps large libraries responsive: sync arrives in pages, lists load off the main thread, and a song that fails to start never plays under another name.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-29

• Rebuilds missing library entries from audio files already stored in Decaud’s iCloud Drive folder without uploading, moving, or deleting them.
• Finds exact duplicate iCloud audio and safely keeps one file and one library entry for each song.
• Prevents catalog sync from restoring a duplicate that was just removed.
• Includes the latest playback reliability improvements.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-08-26

Decaud 1.2.2 improves library reliability and responsiveness:

• Prevents repeated imports from creating duplicate library entries.
• Makes waveforms appear much faster when playing a track for the first time, including large DSD files.
• Adds whole-album removal and automatically closes an album after its final track is removed.
• Repairs track order for clearly identified vinyl-side files such as A1, A2, and B1.
• Improves artist artwork framing and general library consistency.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-15

• AirPlay to Apple TV: cast to an Apple TV running tvOS 27. Set an AirPlay password on the TV (Settings, AirPlay and HomeKit, Require Password) and Decaud will ask for it.
• Control playback from the receiver: Apple TV remote controls now support play, pause, next, previous, and seeking within a track.
• Now playing on the receiver: title, artist, album, and artwork follow the track on Apple TV.
• HomePod stereo pairs appear as one destination, the way they do in Apple Music. Both speakers play, and tap-to-pause holds.
• Sonos over DLNA shows artwork and track details, with playback controls in Decaud.
• Fixes: Next works immediately after launch, casting connects on the first try more reliably, and receiver metadata follows rapid track changes.

### 1.1 — 2026-07-23

Decaud 1.1 is the biggest update yet: radio, a smarter library, and deeper control over your DAC.

• Internet radio: Radio Paradise in FLAC, SomaFM, and FIP, plus your own custom stations. Live song titles and album covers, honest stream quality labels, and the EQ works on live streams.
• Waveform seek bar: the track's real shape is the scrubber, on the Mac player bar and the iPhone hero.
• Classical browsing: works and movements grouped the way box sets deserve, composer pages, and a works tree that understands vinyl rips with messy tags.
• Station: start an endless play session from any song. Decaud picks what sounds alike from your own library, no cloud involved.
• Audio Unit plug-ins (Mac): host your own AU effects in the playback chain, with honest signal path labels. They apply in exclusive mode too, and native DSD stays untouched.
• Device volume in the player bar (Mac): control a DAC that has no knob, even in exclusive mode, without touching the audio samples.
• Native DSD asks first: DoP is sent only to DACs you confirm, so a PCM only dongle never plays noise. Unsupported rates now fall back to the device's best rate and widest bit depth instead of a stale low setting.
• Exclusive mode now returns the device to macOS while paused, so the rest of your Mac keeps its sound.
• Network shares handled honestly: playback waits and resumes when a share reconnects and says so, covers and file info never stall the app, and analysis is polite to the share while music plays from it.
• Crossfeed for headphones: three classic presets, applied honestly, never in exclusive mode.
• Smart playlists with live rules, plus a watch folder that imports anything you drop into it.
• WavPack (.wv) playback, including cue sheet albums.
• Chromecast casting joins AirPlay and DLNA.
• Dozens of fixes: a radio stability fix for long sessions, readable album pages on iOS in every color, clearer settings switches, and more.

Decaud stays free, private, and bit-perfect. No account, no subscription, no tracking.
