### 1/5 — Purchase not Honored

*2025-07-10, version 1.0.8*

I purchased this app in full, I understand that development costs can get away from people, but this has turned into an utter sham of what it once was. Do better.

### 1/5 — Don't Purchase This App

*2025-06-21*

IMO, this app should have died with the old developer and now it is being used to scam many people who paid full price for this app on multiple platforms. I would rate it 0 if I could.

Update since the developer responded: Don't believe the fake sincerity.

**Developer response:** Hi,

We’re sorry you take issue with the new app. We’ve been documenting openly the reasons behind why the app is in its current state on the app’s new Discord, including the decision to change to the subscription model to support future development. Please join the discussion there to help contribute to future improvements.

### 1/5 — This app has become a ripoff

*2025-06-19, version 1.0.8*

I have religiously used Decked Builder for years, and have endlessly recommended the app to members of the MtG community. Now the deck buding functionality has been locked behind a subscription based model, so you can't even build a deck in an app called "Decked Builder," without shelling out cash for "development costs". The developer should just rename this app "Card Browser".

I work in an IT field, and trust me, the amount of cash this guy is hoping to rake in from subscriptions FAR surpasses any costs an app of this nature could require. Do yourself a favor and STEER CLEAR. Please use any free, web-based deck building platform before you allow yourself to be ripped off by this scam of an app.

Take over a previously fantastic and affordable app, and then slap a subscription model on it and call it an improvement? Give me a break. As a user of the original Decked Builder for 10+ years, take my advice. It's a great app under the previous model, but the current subscription based model is nothing more than a self-enrichment scam from the new developer, and it's a desecration of the corpse of a once great app.

### 1/5 — Do not use

*2025-06-10, version 1.0.8*

I’ve had the decked app for years and years. Downloaded to so many phones I’ve lost count. Paid for the app and have loved it. Just went to build a new deck for the first time since Dragonstorm came out and now they are wanting me to pay a monthly fee to create a deck. Horrible!! I’ll just go to MTGGoldfish or Arena to build my decks from now on. Do not use this app

### 1/5 — App is ruined. Move along.

*2025-06-05, version 1.0.8*

Used this app since the beginning. Paid for it. Would fall asleep making decks in this app. Took a break from mtg, came back and this app was ruined. Just sad. I will be looking elsewhere for a replacement.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-06-01, version 1.0.8*

Paid for the full version of the original app a long time ago. Use to be the best deck building app but slowly they made it worse and worse. Now I can’t even use what I paid for because now I need a subscription?

### 1/5 — Original purchase was not honored

*2025-05-30, version 1.0.8*

I was an avid user on this app that I purchased the full version way back when. I tried logging in to the new version and my old purchase through my Apple ID wasn’t recognized. That was disappointing because I was trying to get back into magic.

Overall the app is good but switching to a subscription was not the move.

### 1/5 — Used to be good, now pretty much trash

*2025-05-27, version 1.0.8*

This used to be my go to app for MTG. I even recommended it to pretty much everyone I know that plays MTG. You were able to put your whole collection into it without limits, build decks without limits, and look up cards

With this new version, the developer took away the ability to input your collection and build decks without paying their subscription fee. So they are saying in order for you to just have a record of your cards in your collection and decks updated you have to pay every month, even if you take a break from the game.

I probably would have been ok with that if the subscription fee was low, like a few bucks a year.

The only thing this app is good for now is to look up a card here or there if you don’t have a subscription. Unfortunately if this doesn’t hold any collection or deck information then it would just be better to get another app which has those abilities without a subscription model rather than using multiple apps for multiple functions.

It really is a disappointment that they decided to do this.

### 1/5 — No Longer Useful

*2025-05-25, version 1.0.8*

Decked Builder was a fantastic app for over a decade. However, this deck builder app now has a paywall for deck building. If you want a mobile option for deck lists, look elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Sigh

*2025-05-09, version 1.0.8*

Locking deck building behind a subscription paywall has now made it pretty much unusable. I get it, you need to make money and everyone wants to charge for everything. But did you really need to take away deck building in a deck builder? Maybe provide actual value in another way instead of locking established features? Like most things these days, it was nice while it lasted.

### 1/5 — Greedy Trash

*2025-04-26, version 1.0.8*

They took the old version, added collector #s (which just clutters the screen), did nothing else to it, and now they charge a 2 dollar a month subscription to use the app. You all are pathetic. Notice how the description doesn’t say what the “remaster” does differently than the old version? That’s because they did nothing, and this “remaster” only exists so they could change how they monetize the app. Get bent you trash devs.

### 1/5 — Updates ruined it no longer functional

*2025-04-24, version 1.0.8*

I can no longer browse and directly add to a deck. That was the only reason for this app. You also made the cards present as smaller so you can list a price. I don’t care about the price- I care about being able to read the card.

### 1/5 — Older buyers lose purchases

*2025-03-08, version 1.0.8*

If you had previously bought this app and add-ons they have all vanished. This app uses the older reviews/ratings while denying the users who got it there.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I’m out.

*2026-06-20, version 1.0.8*

I used this app for years. Now they locked all functionality behind a paywall. Ignore this one. There are better options.

### 1/5 — Not Enough Value

*2026-04-12, version 1.0.8*

Had the app when it was free 5/5. Then had to pay for it after the update 2.5/5. Now has a subscription 1/5.

### 1/5 — 1 to 0

*2026-04-09, version 1.0.8*

Took the best app for deck building and bricked it after people paid for it so you could release a new app with a subscription. Lost all my deck lists too. Greedy considering it wasn’t even your App to begin with.

### 1/5 — Subscription update

*2026-03-28, version 1.0.8*

I love this app. The ui never seem to bother me. but I just opened it and it’s asking me to pay for a monthly subscription. Which is wild cause I paid five dollars to download this app in its premium version I wish I could get my money back sucks sometimes to switch to something else

### 1/5 — Do not use, subscription based to make a deck

*2025-10-31, version 1.0.8*

Incredibly short sighted. Your program is not complicated. Not sure what analytics guys were looking at when you decided to switch from a one time purchase to a monthly subscription plan to look at magic cards lol. No I do not care that you’ve explained it on discord, and I do not care for your reasonings.

### 1/5 — Another Subscription App 👎🏼

*2025-10-24, version 1.0.8*

Had this app on my Android Phone for years, and loved it. Finally got it on my iphone, annnnnnnnd Subscription based. Like EVERYTHING else in this world, because apparently, everyone thinks we're all made out of money, and feel like subbing to their services.

I'm so so over paying $5 here $7 there, ENOUGH is ENOUGH! Just charge your users a one time Fee.

Uninstalling, and moving on.

### 1/5 — “Reboot of Abandonware”

*2025-10-03, version 1.0.8*

App is now paid subscription due to rebooting of abandonware. It is also not being maintained in the reboot.

### 1/5 — The deck building app that used to be.

*2025-09-22, version 1.0.8*

I used the original decked builder app religiously for years. Very disappointed this now has a paywall. The previous app provided me a place to brew and make decks even offline and I loved it. Not only is there a paywall but the functionality has also fallen off substantially in searching for different card arts to add to a deck etc. I will be looking to move everything off this platform.

### 1/5 — Used to be good….

*2025-09-02, version 1.0.8*

UNETHICAL DEV! I can’t use the Serial Key I have for my lifetime license. They now only offer subscriptions. If you paid for a lifetime license you should actually get use of it. They stonewalled all the original supporters and now want to charge them $20/year forever. Apple should not allow this sort of bait and switch.

If the devs will do this kind of change now they will make choices against their customers again and again. Do not be surprised if you throw your money away with this guy.

Your reputation is all you have in business and trust once broken cannot be anything but earned back.

### 1/5 — Use moxfield or archidekt instead.

*2025-07-31, version 1.0.8*

I would love to be able to recommend this app as it still has perhaps the best search functionality outside of scryfall, but unfortunately, locking features behind a subscription fee has destroyed this app’s usefulness.

I don’t understand how the new developers thought trying to charge a monthly fee for features that used to be free would be received positively by their user base. It feels like they have sold out the majority of us to extort the few whales that don’t care or those already too invested in the app to give it up.

Ultimately, i feel like the real villain here is capitalism, but regardless, i’m not paying any amount of money for a service that i can access for free elsewhere.

## Most praised reviews (3 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — My favorite collection/deck management tool out there

*2025-03-10, version 1.0.8*

I’ve used a lot of deck building (and more importantly to me, collection management) tools, and this one is the sweet spot between price and functionality.

Plus, the new management for the app is very accessible, friendly, and easy to talk to for bug reports and feature requests.

### 2/5 — 2 stars for what it used to be

*2025-12-10, version 1.0.8*

I seriously loved this app! Years ago it was the best app available for deck building. Each iteration the app would get worse and worse. The UI has become almost unrecognizable and much more convoluted. I wish the dev would just bring back the original version from a few years ago. I also purchased the app twice and that purchase is no longer recognized so they want me to pay a SUBSCRIPTION 😂😂😂

### 2/5 — Good app gone bad

*2025-05-28, version 1.0.8*

Keyboard shortcuts don’t work, it used to be easier to navigate and create decks, now it’s a shell of it’s former glory
