Solid app though. ### 3/5 — New filter option are nice, if they worked *2024-05-11* Adding all types of cards was nice but filtering the out can be a problem. adding color ID was great, for when it works. Removing a clear way to ask for one version not all versions if a card has been brutal to try and recreate. Lastly many cards are clearly tagged wrong as filtering by commander legal tonnes if new commander set cards are filtered out! It borderline unusable at times. Pushing me to other deck builders very quickly. ### 2/5 — Recent UI updates are rough… *2023-11-30* I’ve been using this app for nearly a decade. I know that it has been and can be phenomenal, but the UI updates from a few months ago are major steps backwards. The current version seems to require 2-3 more clicks to accomplish anything, has things like art cards filtered into the search by default, has a ton of wasted screen space, and overall doesn’t function well without data reception. I’ve been using Decked on the subway for years, and now I just… can’t. Most frustrating, my previous purchases need to be re-authenticated at least once a day. I happily paid for all of the extra features under the old UI, but I don’t think I could justify doing so with the current state of things. ### 4/5 — Awesome App, only one thing missing at least for me *2023-11-29* I’ve used this app for over 8 years now. It’s my go to app for deck building and testing. However in recent updates the testing has been changed. I like the format and the way it’s set up, I just have an issue with there only being 2 zones (field and graveyard) If we could get a zone for lands at the very least, I would give 5 stars for this app. I appreciate all the hard work put into the app, and separating lands from everything else would be so wonderful for playtesting. In the meantime, make sure you have the most recent updates to iOS for the best compatibility. ### 2/5 — Longtime user *2023-08-22* I’ve been using this app since probably around 2013, it was one of the first and one of the only apps I’ve paid money for. Used to be the best option for deck building and collection management. A recent update to the entire interface has soured several features that were much more important than the improved design aesthetics. Card search for specific versions of cards requires making the search, clicking on a card, selecting a drop-down menu only available within the view screen of one card to view multiple versions, which must be followed up with backing out of that card view to now see multiple versions of the cards. That’s three steps more than it should take, and must be repeated for each card you search. The card search functionality in general is nonintuitive and buggy. Hopefully these issues will be fixed in the future, but the current state of the app is a classic story of a new front+backend rolled out to look nicer but without proper design choices for ease of use, much less sufficient testing for bugs on the basic functionality of the app. ### 2/5 — They massacred my boy *2023-07-22* This app has long been my only MTG app for card management and deck building. Granted, I’ve been away for a while from the game entirely due to my growing dissatisfaction with Wizards handling of just about every aspect of the game from R&D to the game table, but as I’m still fairly present in some of the boards I like to peruse some deck ideas from time to time and the absolute best feature this app had over any other way searching by card text. I see in patch notes that there is intent to return it to the app but until it does I remain at two stars. I also don’t like the extra taps just to get to the search filters but I do like the ability to scroll endlessly through 80,000 cards alphabetically. ### 4/5 — Great For Deck Building. Not so much for logging collection *2022-10-17, version 4.4.5* I’ve been using this app for at least 5 years now. I only use this for Commander deck building and works great on iOS and iPad os. Can’t recommend it enough. New sets are added in a reasonable amount of time shortly after launch for use in your deck building. ### 3/5 — Still Good, But Developed Issues *2021-08-27* I’ve used this app on my phone and computer for years. It was solid for a long time. Would have been 5 stars. Then the app on my phone would crash a lot for a good 6 months (a year or 2 ago). Once that was fixed, the app started having issues fetching my collection and decks from Dropbox/Google Drive. It was never a problem before, but then it started happening for the last year. Instead of it automatically loading my collection and deck upon first opening the app, I have to manually open them a few times. Rather annoying because if I close out the app, even for a few seconds, I’ll have to reopen all the files a few times to get it to work. I’ve reached out multiple times and the questions I always get are “does it work when you save locally?” It does, but I use online storage managers so I can access these files on my computer and phone easily. I’d have to constantly sync these files with one other if I saved everything locally each time I updated one. Used to be a great app, but over the years it has slowed down into something lesser. I still recommend it if you are just going to use it on your phone. But if you plan on using it across multiple devices, you might find issues with the online storage option. ### 4/5 — Great app *2021-05-20, version 4.4.4* I’m a heavy user of this app. I loved it, when it worked. But since I updated my phone, it crashes immediately on opening. I’ve reached out to the company with no reply. Will it be updated and fixed? I hope this company is not going under, cuz I love the app so much. Please let us know. ### 3/5 — Great app, weird crashes make it annoying *2021-05-07* First off, this is a fantastic application and I have been using it for years now. One challenge I have been encountering for a while now is random crashes of the application. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency when this happens, but the manifestation is the application opening and the immediately closing. Sometimes I get to see the splash screen, and other times I see a frame and crash occurs. I don’t have the diagnostics, but I assume it might have something to do with a corrupt Database which crashes it all. The only fix to this is to fully reinstall the app, which gets a bit annoying. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Used to be good *2024-07-06* Would have given this a 5 for years. But now it’s largely unusable. The single version of a card setting doesn’t work. So when searching for something instead of seeing 20 results I get like 50 plus because cards show up multiple times with all the different arts and borders. I also much preferred it organizing results by mana cost (which it can no longer do) instead of card number from the set so it’s impossible to know where in a list of the results a card is going to show up. Additionally it’s just been buggy since the major revamp a year or two ago and it will still show the wrong card when you pick something from a search or deck list. ### 1/5 — The most recent update ruined it *2024-05-27* I have used this app for almost a decade. It used to be the number one deck building app with no competition. I can’t fathom what the development team was thinking with this update. Test mode has you squinting at your cards from 20 feet away in an attempt to make it more aesthetic? Or realistic? I can’t even see the card man. What were you thinking? Secondly, in order to search cards, there are no settings to choose your default preferences. In fact there appear to be no settings for this app at all. I can’t make “all versions” default. Or “order by cost”. That has to be selected every single time. This is the best example of iteration for iteration sake I have ever seen. If it isn’t broke let’s all get together and find a way to break it. Our leal fans should love that. For reference this app back in the day was like $15 dollars for all of its features. It wasn’t cheap and we all paid it because it was unmatched in how incredible it was. ### 1/5 — It used to be so great *2024-03-02* I have been using this app for many many years. I loved the simplicity of it and how I could easily just scroll through tons of cards. Recently, however, there have been many changes that made it a lot harder / more annoying to use. You now have to filter out art cards, tokens, even the punchout cards with counters and other ad cards are included in some searches. Not only this but every single printing of a card will be included which means I have to scroll through like 20 versions of the same counterspell. This combined with the fact that the UI hasnt been updated in years is why I am choosing to delete the app. Folks, just use scryfall. ### 1/5 — Updated Interface is Terrible *2023-12-11* I’ve been using this app for about a decade, and it was always the best way I’d found to build decks. But after the interface update this year, it’s nearly unusable. Sure it looks sleeker, but they absolutely tanked the quality of life and user experience of almost every function in the app. Everything you do now requires tons more clicks which makes building decks so much more tedious, card faces no longer preload so when searching through lists of cards you have to wait a few seconds for the info to load which pretty much doubles card search times, and the multiple different card search interfaces that are for some reason separate from actually adding cards to your deck make absolutely no sense to use. All this makes me leave the app to go onto my computer to build decks instead every time I try to come back. I haven’t had a good experience using the app in months and it’s such a bummer - the devs absolutely slaughtered a near-perfect app. ### 1/5 — They screwed it up - avoid *2023-09-29* This used to have everything I needed. An easy deckbuilder including a “sample hand” generator, and a way to input your collection. Now it’s all but unusable. If I want to add a new set I have to scan one card at a time. Who has time to do that? Great shame. It was once a lovely product. I’m now looking for something else to use. M ### 1/5 — Fixing something that wasn’t broken *2023-08-26* I hate to give one star, but I agree with multiple other reviewers. The update a few months back completely ruined what had been a fantastic, easy to use app that I had used exclusively for nearly 10 years. I don’t need to go into detail, plenty of other people have explained the many problems with the recent update. I got a reply from their support team that said it was being worked on, but that was over two months ago. I know it’s unrealistic to think they will switch back to the old version, but I’m still hoping they can get it together. Pretty frustrating. ### 1/5 — From favorite to unused *2023-08-07* I used this app originally as my go to mtg app whenever I wanted info about cards I need to get or that I have, etc. I had a few others as backups just in case, but rarely used them. Then, I did an update all without paying attention and now all my old decks and collections indicating what I had, gone. Advanced search function now different, and being such an old user is now incomprehensible to me. I decide to ignore that until I realized that a huge amount of old functions are no longer usable. I stop using the app. Today I saw a new update, that talks about paying for having multiple decks created? I might be wrong about that but if nothing else to me it says that the focus of the developer right now is not on functionality but transactions. I decided that I would write a review to give my thoughts now that I’ve seen this. ### 1/5 — My stuff is gone *2023-06-09* Why did y’all delete all my saved decks? I was using those to keep track of decks that were in development and that I currently had, so I could pull up deck lists during FNM. Now everything is gone, and the new user interface is super scuffed looking. What was the purpose of this update? It just looks like a dime a dozen app now, everything is smooth edges and odd buttons within buttons to use something that used to be a click away. You guys are already so very incredibly slow at updating the card database, so why make the app annoying to use to? Keep my money, but there are free apps that are better now to use than this. I’m incredibly let down. ### 1/5 — Scam *2021-07-03, version 4.4.5* There’s no search bar. You have to scroll through the entire database as a list to find what you want unless you PAY for the camera feature which for some reason costs more than the app. If you want to add a collection, that costs money too. If you want everything the app offers in the ad, it comes out at around 10$ and it’s still garbage to use. In order to use the ID camera, you have to manually select the set. That doesn’t sound too bad, but remember when I said no search bars? Yeah, good luck scrolling. Absolute waste of money. Look elsewhere. ### 1/5 — Great app with a history of good updates. *2021-03-12* I've owned this app for several years now, and you can tell the developer puts a lot of hard work into the updates. I use this as my primary app for building decks, looking up prices, and goldfish testing. Buy the app, it's worth it. About one month ago, the app started crashing after displaying a message with something like, “mvid not found.” I don”t fault the developer because sometimes iPhone updates interfere with 3rd party apps. However, I reached out to the developer letting them know of the issue. It has been at least two weeks without even a response email verifying they got my message. I understand it takes time to fix issues. I am concerned if I delete and reinstall the app that I will lose years of decklists. Please update the app and more importantly, use a system to let users know there complaint was received. I’ve used this app since it was released and keep all records of my cards on here… Recently I’ve been trying to build new decks and find it’s been years since any cards were added. My pod broke up and I stopped playing for awhile when I started looking up card suggestions from online I found the app seriously lacking … was just wondering when a full card update would be available.. thank you for your time and patience! **Developer response:** Hello iugghh, Thank you for using Decked Builder. Double check the current hardware and iOS requirement, then download the newest version to get access to the current card databases. ### 5/5 — Still the best *2023-06-28* Been using Decked for many years now and it’s always been the easiest way to sort buy lists and to generate quick batches of text for bulk ordering on websites. Lately there is a new interface and frequent updates as the developer is filling in promotional cards and fleshing out the functionality. So far the adjustment has been minor and I think these changes make handling multiple lists much much easier. We appreciate your continued support! ### 5/5 — No support, devs deleted 100s of hours of decks *2023-06-12* Their most recent “update” deleted all local deck files, this amounts to 100s of hours and dozens of decks for me. Upon reaching out to their support team i received no response so i guess theyre just gone. If you enjoy having your work randomly ruined by non-responsive devs i strongly recommend this mediocre deck building tool. If not, use archidect instead. Update: they werent deletedjust required importing ### 5/5 — Years of consistent updates *2022-12-28, version 4.4.5* The app could be a bit more refined but I paid a couple bucks for it years ago and they consistently update right at set release. I mainly use the search features and occasionally the deck features. ### 5/5 — The best magic the gathering collector app on the store *2022-09-01* Once you get the camera plug in for this app it is amazing. You can scan your entire collection and search through every card you have by any keyword or filter. You can keep track of basically everything and also see value of your collection and cards too, so many awesome features and functions in this app for deck building it really makes it nice and easy. Can’t recommend this app enough.
