### 2/5 — Not-so-smart app

*2020-06-27, version 1.7.5*

I cannot rely upon the connectivity of these switches. One works more than the other, and the one that does not often work will connect sometimes for no good reason but, again, is not reliable at all.

### 2/5 — App crashes with iPhone X

*2020-06-26, version 1.7.5*

I have the dimmers and switches throughout my entire house and they’ve never been very good at staying connected in fact, every three months or so, I must reconnect them. If the manufacturers could provide a significant improvement on the firmware and app it would be appreciated. Now the app crashes altogether and does not work at all on the iPhone X.

### 1/5 — Junk and so is HomeKit

*2020-01-11, version 1.7.1*

My 8 your old timer switch for front lights died so thought this would be great as I love Leviton products.
Pretty straightforward getting setup with HomeKit. But only allows lights to be on for up the 60 minutes?
Cant find a way to set up a lights off schedule
The other Decora app won’t let you do a schedule or connect to the HomeKit app what a waste of money!

### 2/5 — Just installed

*2019-11-04, version 1.7.1*

Seems to work. Updated the firmware on both that I just installed. Powers on and off. Now to fit the switch back into the crowded box. That’s gonna be a woozy.

The app has nearly zero real features. I can turn things on and off but that’s it. No timing or schedules or anything else really. Very basic, while the Lutron switch that I’ve also tried lets me do all those things and it dims and doesn’t need a neutral.

Wish the app was more feature rich.

### 1/5 — Updates fail from few 1.4.13

*2019-11-03, version 1.7.1*

Been going back and fourth with support - the pastes app (1.7.1) still can’t talk to switches running 1.4.13. It appears this firmware has an update bug for which you cannot update beyond this version.

I am getting responses from the support folks, but so far no helpful suggestions and just canned responses for the obvious things I’ve already tried.

### 1/5 — 2 years 6 switches only one working with HomeKit

*2019-10-23, version 1.7.1*

The switches as switches and dimmers work great, seem a bit warm but work without issue.....where this app and the switches die is with remote control or more specifically the lack of keeping these switches connected to the app and HomeKit.....get used to connection failed message for no rhyme or reason I have 2 switches for a bathroom RIGHT next to each other...the farthest from the router worked up till last year when it started getting the connection issues. For the last year only one switch is connecting anymore....and it is the front porch which is the furthest from the router, the signal goes through the kitchen AND the utility room...LoL the switch that has the most interference and weakest signal is the one that’s hanging on.....I can’t really tell if the app is crap or the switches are crap....or the combination make the crap experience....Leviton support is nonexistent and loves to try and blame the router....I have had a linksys wrt54, Apple airport and ASUS rt ac66u...the one switch that has worked through all routers and different router placements the others up till a year ago work intermittently connect but constantly loose connection and then eventually never connect again.....STAY AWAY FROM THESE SWITCHES and by proxy the app.....good thing is the app doesn’t freeze anymore

### 1/5 — firmware 1.4.32 fails to load

*2019-10-20, version 1.5.9*

Have been running three switches for a year, no issues. Those switches have 1.4.13 firmware. Just bought a new switch and it is stuck at 1.4.09 firmware. App shows fw available. When I try to load it, it says it is unable to. Tried this across multiple iphones and both ios12 and ios13. I emailed Leviton support, no response after my first email.

still failing as of October 20, 2019 with app rev 1.5.9z

### 1/5 — Updates are flaky

*2019-09-26, version 1.5.9*

One of my smart switches apparently called home for an update. The other one has not updated its firmware, and the Leviton app cant find it on the network. I even tried giving the IP of the device directly. I can identify the switch but it will not take a firmware update. It’s a DH6HD running firmware version 1.4.13 and I’m trying to update to 1.4.32. Honestly it’s not even clear what the update entails. Where’s the change log?

### 1/5 — Buyers Beware

*2019-08-07, version 1.4.7*

If you are expecting reliable able switches to work with HomeKit, then buy a different brand from another manufacturer. For nearly two years, I’ve had nothing but problems with four Leviton switches falling out of HomeKit and going non responsive. I’ve spent hours troubleshooting these with both Apple and Leviton who cannot fix the problem. The problem points to Leviton because out of 40 other IoT devices I have in HomeKit, the Leviton switches are the only devices that have problems. All four switches have the latest firmware updates, and I have the latest iOS versions. I’ve also worked with the company who made my home router, and they were kind enough to share research with me which shows other customers have the same problem with Leviton. Whatever you do, don’t waste $50 on even one of their switches. You are better off selecting a different brand.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2019-06-05, version 1.4.7*

Great concept...installed and had them setup and working. It’s day one and they disconnected and won’t reconnect even with a hard reset. Please help if there is any support...I called the support desk and they blamed the connection issues on Apple’s ICloud today and didn’t even attempt to resolve it after 1 reset attempt. They stated it’s Apples fault yet all non Leviton devices work perfectly today. Extremely disappointed in the product, but the customer service is unacceptable!

### 1/5 — Don’t believe the packaging

*2019-04-06, version 1.4.3*

I bought the Leviton switch to replace a timer switch and on the packaging it stated that you can “schedule accessories to turn on or off”. That’s a lie! There is no way to “schedule” anything on this switch or app. You can only use the app to manually turn on or off lights. Don’t waste waste your money on this thinking this app will replace a timer device.

### 2/5 — Very buggy, struggled for days. Needs overhaul.

*2019-03-15, version 1.4.3*

After days of struggling with this app and installing 30 light switches, I learned I had to move my access point/router 6 inches away from each light switch in order to get each accessory to join the network. Rebooting my iPhone also helped as sometimes the passing of WiFi credentials from the iPhone to each light switch didn’t work (but I assume this is Apple’s fault since they wrote the API for that process). Deleting Zones or Rooms from within the Decora app sometimes caused a catastrophe of also deleting unrelated light switches (accessories) altogether. This is inexplicable. App needs a serious overhaul.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Scam

*2022-04-22, version 2.2.1*

Bought and installed these throughout the house, thousands of dollars thrown away on a product that worked on the first few days, then crapped out all over the house. Some times, some of them work, some times none of them work remotely.
Total garbage

### 1/5 — Trash

*2021-08-19, version 2.0.3*

I never write reviews but this has to be the worst product ever. Very difficult to connect to HomeKit. Once I was able to connect lost connection after a couple of months and can’t update firmware. Need iOS 12 or below to do so. What a complete joke.

### 1/5 — Horrible app and timer switch

*2021-03-15, version 1.7.5*

We have had the absolute WORST time with this ridiculous light switch. Sometimes it works fine but when it doesn’t, you can easily waste an hour of your time trying to figure out why it isn’t working/connected/updated.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Buy another brand!!!

### 1/5 — Two star average is generous

*2021-02-17, version 1.7.5*

They should fire whoever is responsible for the development of this app, immediately. If I led or owned this company, I would be deftly embarrassed that such trash was released to the general public with my company’s name attached to it. Updates don’t work, app crashes regularly. Garbage. Stuck with it because I’ve made such a hefty investment in the switches & dimmers but I will be looking for an alternative soon enough. GARBAGE.

### 1/5 — The switches have terrible pairing.

*2021-01-17, version 1.7.5*

Had to call support to pair. And haven’t been able to get any of the re-paired since a power outage. Had to find old iPhone because it wouldn’t pair with a new one. Update the firmware with that. Then go back to the new phone. Then when the power goes out (and comes back on) no smart features work. I would maybe expect this level of performance out of a five dollar switch.

### 1/5 — How about an update

*2020-10-28, version 1.7.5*

Real buggy. Don’t seem to care about consumers who buy their products. The one switch I have cannot and will not reset. When it does see switch, says cannot find WiFi or connect switch. Drops after power outage. App is out of date. Does not recognize OS 14. On and on. Could use a firmware update as well.

### 1/5 — Worse apps in the world!!!!

*2020-10-19, version 1.7.5*

Apps crashed with single tap on setting or top banner. Was this app tested at all before release? I cant understand how this simple bug get into a released apps. In addition, impossible to set up new switch. None of the function works. Can I even give 0 star???? My bad for buying an on sale switch. Here is the reason.

### 1/5 — Terrible piece of junk - app as well as the switches

*2020-09-03, version 1.7.5*

Other one start review are right. This app and the Switches are a total waste of money. And no, there are no issues with my network. I am an electrical engineer and I know what I am doing wrt networks. Just bought a cheap Chinese knock off brand switch and guess what - it works way better, never drops out and has better signal strength.

### 1/5 — Unreliable doesn’t even begin to describe this app

*2020-07-21, version 1.7.5*

Two years into owning a dozen Leviton switches, I’m down to one that actually is connected to my network. They routinely have disconnected and stopped responding making these no better than a $2 switch. Can’t get any of the others to reconnect no latter what tricks I try. If you’re a fan of frustration and wasting time on device connections, then have at it. Otherwise, listen to the other reviews - this system of switches and the app are complete crap.

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2020-03-05, version 1.7.5*

This app is junk and so are the switches. It will randomly delete switches from my home, switches lose connection to the network, it’s always something. I REALLY regret buying these, and this app is ugly, and lacks any sort of polish. It looks like it was designed 10 years ago and simply adapted to fit new devices. I have to pair the same switches over and over again to get them added to the app, and then they will delete themselves from the app completely within a couple of weeks. I hate this app and hardware more than I can say.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works fine

*2021-04-09, version 1.7.5*

This app is for HomeKit in its most basic form. Use it to update the firmware, set dimmer min max to work with the type of bulbs you have and then never open it again. From that point Apples Home app should be used.

Since I bought these switches 3 years ago the apps core design (bare minimum for HomeKit requirements at the time) hasn’t changed nor has its functionality.

Switches and dimmers seems reliable in my experience especially with improvements to HomeKit.

### 5/5 — App works reliably

*2020-11-28, version 1.7.5*

The app is much improved. Aside from one crash, it lets me install and control Leviton HomeKit switches. Looks much better than it did before too.

### 5/5 — Works fine

*2019-10-14, version 1.5.9*

I just bought a Leviton HomeKit switch and was a little worried by all the negative reviews, but this app worked fine. I used it to update the firmware and configure the settings (bulb type, fade rate) on my switch, which was a straightforward process, but otherwise I just use the Home app.

### 5/5 — No Issues - Works Fine

*2019-02-02, version 1.4.3*

So far the switch and app have worked fine with no issues.

### 5/5 — My experience was great

*2018-10-20, version 1.4.3*

I was a little bit confused about the white neutral wire but then I spoke to a friend Electrician and he said that I could just create a new copper wire connecting from the white screw and tying it into the pigtail with the other white neutral wires - other than that installation was very easy. I love that you can set the green indicator light to be on whenever the light outside is on. You can also adjust the green light to be always on or always off but I prefer to have it matching the status of the outside light.

### 4/5 — Works well for me

*2019-09-25, version 1.5.9*

There are a lot of terrible reviews for this app, which I don’t understand at all. I have 27 switches, mostly standard but several multi-way, and with the exception of occasionally having to reset one after a power surge due to thunderstorms they work perfectly. The app integrates seamlessly with Apple Home, which their other app (the higher rated one) does not. I do not have any dimmer switches, so maybe the people reporting problems have those. The only problem I have had is getting the latest firmware update to install on two of my newest switches. The app is telling me the URL is not found.

### 3/5 — Lack of updates

*2021-10-27, version 2.0.3*

Seems like anyone who was an early adopter of their Decora Smart switches are going to be left behind. These switches were not cheap! I’d like to see improvements to stability of these switches, or some kind of firmware/software updates. They have a tendency to get disconnected from the “Home” and then need to be reset and setup again.

### 3/5 — Reset Instructions not complete

*2020-05-27, version 1.7.5*

We too had trouble with the dimmer dropping from the network. After many attempts to reconnect the switch to the network including network resets, deleting the AppleTV hub, deleting the Home from the app, etc we stumbled on a hard reset that wasn’t in the instructions.
Reset in the manual has you hold the UP switch for 7 seconds until the amber light comes on and the green flashing.
Hard reset (not in manual) comes after about 10 seconds of holding the UP button. Amber then Red then finally a dim steady green that looks like it is rebooting up - then I released the button.
This allowed me to connect to the network with the Decora App and all was well. Firmware update was next and went smoothly.
No problems since then.
Wish the instructions were complete. Good Luck.

### 3/5 — Latest firmware update killed my switches

*2019-10-23, version 1.7.1*

6 of my 15 switch no longer work after this software and firmware update. I done resets and turned the breakers on and off. 3 of them are in a endless reboot and the other 3 don’t respond.

Update - The 6 are now working. At first I tried updating those 6 in a group and they failed. The other 8 I did one by one and they worked. After a lot of reboots and trouble shooting and trying to update from my phone, I switch over to my iPad, updated the app and then was able to update the 6 remaining switches 1 by 1. Should not be that hard, put at least they work again.

### 3/5 — Can be difficult to install switches and get HomeKit setup

*2019-05-25, version 1.4.7*

I initially purchased 3 switches. I had some issues with the previous version of the firmware. Support was unable to help me and suggested I return it. I was able to get them work updated and I’m very happy with them. I purchased an additional switch and was able to use my previous experience to avoid the previous problems. The new firmware is definitely needed. I’m sure once the older stocks are replaced installation should be easier. The app is super basic because you should be using the “home” app for all your schedules and control.
