## What is Deep Cove?

Deep Cove is an educational and visitor companion for Deep Cove, Pātea Doubtful Sound and the surrounding Fiordland area.
The app brings together practical information, local history, natural history and outdoor learning resources for visitors, students, teachers and group leaders.
Features include:
• Offline maps for use where mobile coverage is unavailable
• Map and GPS tools, including track recording and saved locations
• Guided local walks with route maps and interpretive waypoints
• Information about native birds, plants, fish and other wildlife
• Interactive identification quizzes
• Deep Cove and Manapouri hydroelectric development history
• Hostel, safety and emergency information
• Downloadable resources for teachers and school groups
• Forms that can be completed, saved, printed or exported as PDFs
The app is designed to remain useful in the remote Deep Cove environment. Many principal features and resources work without an internet connection. GPS accuracy depends on the user’s device and surrounding terrain.
The app is an educational and visitor aid. Users should continue to follow the directions of teachers, group leaders, hostel management and emergency services.
