## What is Deep Orbit?

Deep Orbit generates its sound in real time. There are no audio files in this
app — every tone, every band of noise, every reflection is computed while you
listen. No two sessions are identical, and nothing ever loops.

Most of its sessions end. An eight-minute session slows down for eight minutes
and then arrives at silence, and the screen shows you where you are in that
descent without asking you to watch it. Two sessions are open-ended, for when
you want sound that simply stays.

SESSIONS
• Mental Reset — 8 minutes. It slows down, and then it stops.
• Quick Reset — 4 minutes, same descent.
• Wind Down — 25 minutes, ending in almost nothing.
• Drift — Open-ended. No arc, no ending.
• Focus Field — Open-ended. Steady, and slightly brighter.

MADE FOR HEADPHONES
Stereo width comes from a model of a head, not from a stereo widener: a real
interaural delay, and the shadow a skull casts across the far ear. It stays
coherent on a speaker and has depth on headphones.

BREATHING, IF YOU WANT IT
A slow pacer moves with the sound rather than over it. It never counts at you
and it is not a coach. Tap three times in rhythm and it takes your rate
instead of its own.

THE DETAILS
• No account, no sign-in, no ads
• Nothing is collected, and nothing leaves the phone
• Works in Airplane Mode — the only network request the app can make is a
  check for a required update
• Background audio, Control Center, and a sleep timer
• Respects Reduce Motion, Increase Contrast, Bold Text, Dynamic Type,
  VoiceOver, and Mono Audio
• A Shortcuts action, so a session can start from an automation or the
  Action button

Deep Orbit is a sound app. It is not a medical device, and it makes no claim
about anyone's health.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-22

Sound

• The level control was giving away about ten decibels before the sound ever
reached you. The slider now covers a range you can actually use, including
on a quiet phone in a quiet room.
• A call or an alarm used to leave the engine running silently in the
background for as long as the interruption lasted. It now stops properly,
  and starts again properly.
• "Waiting for headphones" waited forever. Plug them in and the session
  starts.
• Mono Audio was read once at launch, so turning it on during a session left
the stereo placement folded into a comb filter. It is followed live now.

Look

• The screen is rebuilt around one ring, placed against the screen rather
than pushed into position by spacing.
• The last thirty seconds are visible now: the ring goes out, and the point
of light drifts to the centre and stops there.
• Type was rebuilt as six roles, so the app's own sentences no longer
  truncate at large text sizes.
• Several pieces of text were dimmer than they claimed to be. They were
measured against the background they are actually drawn on, and corrected.

Sleep timers

• The timer covers a whole night now.
• The 90- and 120-minute options descended out of order. They descend
  correctly.

Accessibility

• Bold Text had no effect anywhere, because every font in the app sets a
weight. It applies now, without a relaunch.
• Increase Contrast, Dynamic Type, VoiceOver and Reduce Motion are followed.

Quieter at night

• The closing question used to be asked whenever a session finished —
including at three in the morning, right after eight minutes spent getting
you ready to sleep. It waits for waking hours now, and asks at most once
  a day.
