I aborted during the install process because it was signing me up for a subscription that starts automatically after the trial. No way I’m going to allow that. A free trial should be a free trial. At the end of the trial, offer the opportunity to subscribe, not the other way around. If you have no confidence in your product or pricing, you try to trick people into subscriptions they forget about or trap them with cancellation processes that are onerous. The back button is also broken, you can’t swipe back between ideas, it forces completions. You also can’t intuitively start where you left off by viewing the book chapter list - you have to start over. Book repeatedly starts back at lesson one, then skips ahead randomly. The swipe controls are also not intuitive, and requires you memorize the faulty controls / algrothirm bugs. For a paid app… I shouldn’t have to be writing this review. ### 1/5 — Aweful. Sells your data and fills your junkmail *2026-08-23, version 31.2.1* By the time i added my email to the information my junkmail almost instantly started getting way more junkmail. Today 17 junkmail spam. Deleted app no thank you ### 5/5 — Math beats gut feeling *2026-08-23* I’m reading about “algorithms to live by” on Deepstash and I’m going through a chapter every minute while receiving value from each. I would say the app is set up well and does as described. Does the app have a voiceover to read the text blocks to you? What about an auto progress with voiceover so you don’t need to continue tapping? If not having one would make reading while driving far easier and driving in general a far more efficient endeavour. Hats off to the team at Deepstash for having me read books, I always used to struggle but without all the filler that books normally include I find them way more engaging and enjoyable. **Developer response:** Hey there! What’s not okay is the app to force users to pay the premium price despite being advertised as free. Basically after every lesson the app shows you a Paladin ad. But after you saw a few ads and went through a couple lessons, the ad simply doesn’t show while you are stuck in the interface. It’s not like that the app crashes. The ‘Upgrade to Remove Ads’ works just fine. But the ad simply doesn’t play.
