### 4/5 — Defeat Diabetes

*2024-08-12*

Excellent information given to the understanding of T2 diabetes and how to manage it for better health outcomes and or put it into remission. All lessons are portrayed in a way to enforce the understanding of this condition for better health.
I have been using the low carb eating for a month now and starting to feel much better metabolically and results are now starting to show in weight loss. Hoping my HBaC1 has dropped in the next blood test.
My husband has even got on board with this eating plan. His inflammation in the joints has also decreased.
This lifestyle is a keeper to enjoy life to the fullest.
Thank you Deaf Diabetes

**Developer response:** Hi JPA, thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you and your husband are already experiencing such positive changes, both in weight loss and joint inflammation. It's fantastic that you're embracing the low-carb lifestyle together — it truly is a game-changer for health and well-being. We're excited for you to see the impact on your HbA1c in your next blood test. Keep up the great work, and here's to enjoying life to the fullest! - DD Team

### 5/5 — Great programme

*2024-07-27, version 3.2.2*

This is a great programme. It is very well constructed and presented. The modules are comprehensive and the meal plans are easy to follow with easy to prepare and delicious recipes. Well done to all the people who put this programme together. I would recommend this to anyone, not only people with type 2 diabetes, who want to live a healthy and vibrant life

### 4/5 — Yeah! Now medication free!

*2024-07-26*

I was diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic 20 years ago. Three years ago I discovered and proved that low carb reduces blood glucose levels. After returning blood test in normal range for a year, I started begging my Dr to reduce, then drop medication. All went very well and blood sugar levels were great. Then winter got to me and over several months of rolled oats for breakfast and increasing indulgences in cakes, biscuits and chocolate, my blood glucose levels were creeping back into diabetic range. Three weeks after joining DD to get back on track with sensible eating, my fasting blood sugar is back under 6.5. The great information and recipes that come with the program have inspired me and keep me motivated to eat more healthily and keep Diabetes at bay.

**Developer response:** Hi Rikki, thank you for sharing your journey with us! It's amazing to hear how a low-carb approach has helped you manage your blood glucose levels so effectively. We're thrilled that the Defeat Diabetes Program, with its information and recipes, has inspired you to get back on track. Keep up the fantastic work, and we're here to support you every step of the way! - DD Team

### 5/5 — Flipped on it’s head

*2024-07-22, version 3.2.2*

I have recently started the Defeat Diabetes program Since my heart attack and kidney failure in 2021 the inflammation I received was to: Eat plenty of carbs and cut down on fat especially saturated fat
Looks like I should have been doing the opposite Thank goodness for Defeat Diabetes

### 5/5 — This app is a winner

*2024-07-05*

I was diagnosed about 14 years ago with type 2 diabetes. I had managed to to keep things relatively under control with intermittent fasting and exercise. This was hard work and I was loosing muscle mass in the process. Unsurprisingly I was hungry a lot of the time. About 2 years ago my HbA1c went up to 7.3 and I was prescribed Metformin.
Since starting the Defeat Diabetes program my weight is increasing - however my waist circumference is decreasing! (I was not overweight to begin with ) I am gaining muscle mass. I am no longer hungry, and have more energy. I have embraced the idea that saturated fats are not ‘bad’. The Defeat Diabetes approach from my experience is better at controlling BGL than intermittent fasting, and I am no longer hungry! Win win I say!
My fasting Blood Glucose levels are now hovering around 5-6 and I feel like a new man. I have had a chat with my GP and have got a HbA1c test in a couple of months. If things keep going as they have been, there is every chance my Diabetes will be in remission! If you are overweight, have pre-diabetes or diabetes I recommend you give this app a go.

**Developer response:** We appreciate your detailed experience with the app and are glad to hear about the positive impact on your health journey! If you have any concerns with the program, please don't hesitate to reach out to us and we'll be happy to help. Keep up the great progress, Dan! - DD Team

### 5/5 — Review.

*2024-07-01, version 3.2.2*

I’m really enjoying the recipes and happily achieving lower BG readings. I have a bit more energy than before but not yet sleeping as well as I’d like. Nor have I lost any weight after 4 weeks. However I believe this will happen. I am very glad to have found the Defeat Diabetes program. Than you.

### 4/5 — A lot of knowledge

*2024-05-04, version 3.2.2*

I have learnt such a wealth of knowledge from Defeat Diabetes - about diabetes, statins, a low carb diet and its advantages just to name a few. I like that it is presented by doctors and other health professionals too, which adds to the excellent approach. Well done!

### 5/5 — Breath of fresh air

*2024-04-01, version 3.1.4*

This app is a lifeline for many people with type 2 diabetes.
Every one should try and show their GP .
There is such good information, all health professionals who help manage people with diabetes should go through the program.

### 5/5 — Easy

*2024-01-25, version 3.0.8*

Defeat Diabetes is a game changer. Recipes are delicious. Initially takes a bit of shopping to get the core ingredients in the pantry. For an individual need to decide which meals you want to eat instead of trying to make everything. Lots of educational tools. In two weeks I lost more weight than in any other attempts with different methods and I’m not hungry between meals. Definitely recommend

### 5/5 — Excellent program

*2023-12-27, version 3.0.1*

Very informative information. I recommend trying this app.

### 5/5 — Education to save your Life

*2023-12-20, version 3.0.1*

I have been using this app for six months and I’ve found it is very educational around low-carb diet, informative on Health issues and suggests recipes for meals. During this time I have lost 17 kg and have more energy than previously.

I highly recommend the use of this app.

### 5/5 — So helpful

*2023-12-09, version 2.0.0*

Although not diagnosed diabetic I’m convinced I was insulin resistant and on the verge of asking for menopause replacement therapy as I was tired all the time, couldn’t lose weight and suffering terribly from poor sleep.Even though my blood tests were normal.
Over the last 2 months I’ve gone from interrupted sleep, waking multiple times with night sweats to regularly sleeping 6-7 hours. My mood has improved and the brain fog is lifting.Even some of the aches and pains have gone.
The meal plans and recipes are winners.
The education enables me to understand why I’ve always been so hungry all the time which in turn has helped me to make small changes over the last 8 weeks easily.
I’m so glad I decided to give Defeat Diabetes a go.

### 5/5 — I’m happy

*2023-09-08, version 2.0.0*

I’ve lost about 30 kilo, I’ve halved my medication, following the low carb diet is easy, my energy is coming back and very noticeable, what’s not to like. No wonder I’m happy.

### 5/5 — Gaygirl08

*2023-08-13, version 1.5.3*

Love this program. Everyone helpful and easy to follow.

### 5/5 — Life changed!!

*2023-07-05, version 1.5.3*

11 days into following this program and my fasting blood sugar has reduced from mid 10’s to mid 5’s.
I’ve learnt so much from the lessons and masterclasses, and have tried out some recipes, which have all been excellent.
I’ve reduced my blood sugar, lost weight and lost centimetres, all without feeling deprived in the slightest.
I cannot thank defeat diabetes enough for the enlightenment and life changing advice.

### 5/5 — Pre diabetes

*2023-04-16, version 1.5.3*

Have only been on DD for a couple of weeks and find the meals and recipes are pretty good. Lots of information too. Due to see my gp soon and have a blood test , will be very interested to see if my results have changed/ improved.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2024-08-27, version 3.3.2*

Cannot get past the login screen & it stings you for $130 up front.

### 1/5 — Membership is costly.

*2022-04-28, version 1.4.9*

Monthly membership is costly but you don’t find out until you’ve given out your information. I don’t like it when sites and apps do this so I’m not subscribing.

### 1/5 — Wish it would work!

*2022-03-14, version 1.4.8*

This app has great potential. Good look great recipes and the lessons etc are very informative. But the technical issues have put me off - despite attempts by tech response nothing changes. Sorry I will not be renewing my subscription.

### 1/5 — Info - Display

*2021-02-28, version 1.0.5*

Info great but the overall experience needs improving. Feels like the App was only designed for use on a mobile phone. Displays poorly on iPad. Even using the increase screen key still doesn’t fill the screen and then only in portrait. Wish I could just login on a browser.

I would also expect that I could print out recipes and daily / weekly planner but can only see that option for shopping list. The list is not easily accessed hidden in profile. Would love a link to the list in recipes / plan where the items are added.

My other suggestion in Plan - CHANGE is to group all suitable meals together. So if you want to change a Breakfast meal that all Breakfast meals are grouped together and that you then don’t have to go through all of the meals.

These issues leave me feeling like I wished I just bought a book.

### 1/5 — Requires an account

*2021-01-10*

They have the option to use apple’s secure private sign in but chose not to. So I choose not to use this app. Disappointed.

**Developer response:** Hi YesIamSamIam, thanks for your great suggestions. We would like to follow-up that you can now register and access the program via our website. Simply head over to our page and register under quarterly or annual memberships. We've also added other plan/tiers as well for your convenience. We hope to see you and be part of our community once again! - DD Team

### 2/5 — Font is way too small to read.

*2023-06-29, version 1.5.3*

Font is way too small to read. Also the recipe is not totally within the page. It cannot be expanded or read in landscape to adjust for these problems.
Even with reading glasses I cannot read the recipe.
As the majority of diabetes sufferers are older I find this incomprehensible.

### 2/5 — Over priced and a bit pointless

*2021-03-13*

When paying $100 for an app I want it to do some of the work for me! The weekly meal plans are great, and it is good that you can swap meals out, but there is no shopping list created from that. You can create a shopping list by clicking each recipe but it is not accumulative, meaning you end up with a 50g of cheddar listed 4 times etc if it’s in four recipes ... picky I know but other apps at this price point can manage it.
There could be a few more dinner recipes, which will hopefully come in time.
Overall this is an overpriced cookbook that could have been printed with sample menus and sold at big w for $30!

**Developer response:** Hi MDDG7, good to hear you're enjoying our meal plans and we've taken on board your great suggestion regarding shopping lists. The program aims to go beyond recipes with access to the latest evidence, video lessons, Masterclasses, articles and cooking demos delivered by health professionals, in addition to providing member-only support - DD team

### 3/5 — Not for me

*2024-01-20*

Having given this program a trial, I’m not going to purchase it. I have no doubt the basic premise is correct; by switching to a low carbohydrate, high protein diet the factors leading to diabetes and obesity can be diminished and potentially type 2 diabetes can be placed in remission. It also has “lessons “ explaining the scientific research on which the program is based. However the app is poorly structured and bugs abound, like not updating progress. The recipe section, when I searched for vegetarian options gave me some definitely meat based meals, with “vegetarian” as one of the key words, so it’s sloppily edited. While the lessons were informative, I found it tedious wading through them trying to find guidance on what amount I should limit my carbohydrate intake to - something pretty fundamental I would have thought. It has no tracking capacity either to record what is eaten. I saw some rave reviews about the program, but it’s not for me.

**Developer response:** Hey Ruthie, we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with our app. We appreciate your feedback and are continuously working on improving the app's structure and fixing any bugs for the Progress Tracker. We also understand your frustration with the recipe section and will address the issue of inaccurate search results. We will also take your comments on board with the lessons and how it's not easy to navigate and it's poorly structured. We hope that you will rejoin us in the future and help us in our mission to help 100,000 Australians into remission.

### 3/5 — Really easy to use app with a couple of bugs

*2021-01-11, version 1.0.1*

I have found the app really easy to use and navigate and there is a lot helpful dieting tips and Information to help you make smart choices with your food. Currently, my only issue with the app is I cannot hear any audio with any of the informational videos at the moment. So I can only read the articles that are available (not all ‘master classes’ are accompanied by a transcript.

### 4/5 — Follow the evidence!

*2025-06-24, version 3.4.7*

Having grown up with the Food Pyramid, I found it hard to switch my thinking around the balance of different food classes, especially fats! Defeat Diabetes have been very responsive with links to detailed scientific analyses and the latest evidence around the best diet for Diabetes. There is loads of information also within the app, plus great recipes, menu plans and swaps

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s Everything I Need

*2025-10-21, version 3.6.5*

I use the recipes every week. The masterclass and lessons are always informative and of value. I make all of my desserts biscuits slices and pudding and most mains from Defeat Diabetes website.

### 5/5 — The most comprehensive app ever

*2025-08-12, version 3.4.7*

This app is a lifeline for many people with type 2 diabetes.
Every one should try and show their GP .
There is such good information, all health professionals who help manage people with diabetes should go through the program.

### 5/5 — Why didn’t this happen years ago?

*2025-07-29, version 3.4.7*

This app and the program provided great support in my changes to reduce my Blood Glucose and weight permanently. It was worth much more than I paid to be in the program. The lessons, webinars and meal plans are great.

### 5/5 — Tasty recipes!

*2025-07-19*

Defeat Diabetes was recommended by my GP and I’m using it to support my partner in his efforts to reduce or cease medication and hopefully reverse his type 2 diabetes. The recipes are excellent, that’s the main section of the app that I’ve been using and most of the dishes I’ve cooked have been delicious. It would be great if there was a function to add notes once I’ve made a dish (eg add more liquid, seasoning etc) that I could reference next time I cook it.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your lovely feedback! We're thrilled to hear you're enjoying the recipes and supporting your partner on this journey. Also, great suggestion — we’ll pass your note-taking idea on to the team for future updates. Keep up the fantastic work in the kitchen! - DD Team

### 5/5 — Very easy to use app

*2025-04-02, version 3.4.1*

I get a weekly meal plan I’m enjoying all the new tasty recipes too.
Lots of Lessons to watch plenty of help by informative specialists

### 5/5 — Life changing app

*2025-02-19*

On finding out I was pre-diabetic, I asked my doctor what I should eat and she referred me to this app. It is the best $129 I have spent. I love all the education I am receiving via the webinars, lessons and articles. I have also bought books of authors Dr Bruckner has interviewed with some still to buy. This education is like doing a mini university course. Knowing why I’m making the lifestyle changes I am is very important and helps me to follow the program.

I also love trying out new recipes from the DD app. It’s creative and satisfying and the food is nourishing and tasty.

I am very glad I discovered the impact food has on my health (specifically pre diabetes) and its ability to help heal me. I have lost weight and generally feel better. It’s been life changing.

**Developer response:** Hi Amq60, thank you for your amazing feedback! We’re so glad to hear that Defeat Diabetes has been a valuable investment in your health. Understanding why lifestyle changes matter is key, and it’s fantastic that you’re diving into the education, the webinars, and books to deepen your knowledge. It sounds like you’re embracing the journey with curiosity and creativity — especially in the kitchen! Keep up the incredible work, and we’re so happy to be part of your life-changing experience. 💪🍽️📚 - DD Team

### 5/5 — Getting on top of prediabetes

*2025-02-09, version 3.3.8*

My endocrinologist referred me to this app. I had gestational diabetes and ended up prediabetic post pregnancy.

Defeat diabetes has educated me, given me great resources, meal plans and recipes. I rely on the recipes quite heavily.

From this I have been able to reach a healthy bmi and maintain it.

For me taste is highly important when cooking, and I struggled to stay to bland, basic meal plans.

Defeat diabetes recipes are tasty and help me stay with in my calorie goals keeping me at my desired weight and I know I’m looking after my health for the future.

### 5/5 — A lifestyle changer

*2025-01-01*

I joined the Defeat Diabetes program on my GPs recommendation and this app is the tool needed to access the program. Whilst not type 2 diabetic, I am obese and my GP would like my baseline Insulin levels to be lowered. I have become inspired by the lessons on this app into changing what I eat i.e. low carbs/sugar. Now understanding how our metabolism works has been the gamechanger for me and the lessons, masterclasses and other info presented by the Drs and Dietition has allowed me to understand what I should and shouldn’t eat, rather than simply being told to follow a diet. There is a mountain of info in this app. I do feel that adding the Program Progress Bar (as in the web version) would be a handy inclusion to indicate which articles I have previously read in the program. Would highly recommend the program and this app.

**Developer response:** Hi Mal, thank you for this review. We truly appreciate your feedback and are glad the Defeat Diabetes Program has inspired your lifestyle change! Your journey toward better health is commendable, and we're thrilled to hear how the information resonates with you. As for the progress bar for the mobile app, a small circle chart (green and white) does show indicating your progress for each Lesson modules. However, a feature that indicates which articles you've read already sounds like a good idea. We'll forward your suggestions to the team for review and consideration. Once again, thank you for recommending us! - DD Team

### 5/5 — Game Changer

### 5/5 — Confidence and trustworthy.

With so many opinions claiming authenticity, the DD website and app is refreshing, believable, and trustworthy. It’s changing our lives. 🤩
