### 1/5 — Can’t open app

*2025-07-12, version 1.2.31*

The app will not open. I tried it on three different devices.

### 1/5 — Horrible-Worthless & Frustrating!

*2025-06-28, version 1.2.31*

How in the world could Defiant have millions of non-Bluetooth timers still on the market and in use by thousands of customers, and all of a sudden remove the app that controls them and replace it with an app that ONLY supports Bluetooth devices?? Really?
Are you expecting people to run out and purchase new timers so we can use the new app? I don’t think so. Why would Defiant be so thoughtless? On a second note, it’s an insult snd insensitive to the customer’s needs that they didn’t even recommend an alternative app to use with the old timers. This has been disappointing and frustrating to say the least and I for one - will show my lack of interest in NEVER purchasing anything from defiant!

### 4/5 — Defiant

*2025-01-11, version 1.2.31*

Horrible app. Companies like this should be shut down.

### 1/5 — The app crashes

*2024-11-24, version 1.2.31*

The app has a glitch and keeps crashing!!!

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your $$$$

*2024-08-04, version 1.2.31*

Junk. I got it downloaded and the plug works with the app, however, I can’t get it to sink with Alexa. And that was my purpose.

### 1/5 — App does not work

*2024-07-23, version 1.2.31*

This app is trash no way to get it to work.

### 1/5 — Much prefer the old app

*2024-04-01, version 1.2.31*

This app is worthless! I could set my outside lights from dusk to dawn or a custom program and not ever have to turn anything on, even when I was away from home with the older timer app. I am terribly disappointed that the developer did not at least still OFFER the older version that we all bought and had installed connected to our lights. I will never recommend this to anyone and will search to find something similar to what the old timer and app used to be.

### 1/5 — App updated for wireless only

*2024-03-27, version 1.2.31*

The original app worked with a cord you would plug into the light switch to set the options. Original light switches were not blue tooth. Why doesn’t the current app let you also use the original wired switches ?????

### 1/5 — Very unhappy.☹️

*2024-03-10, version 1.2.31*

Defiant left millions of users without the ability to control all of the light controlling products they used to make by deleting their app used for same. Perhaps to get us to purchase the Bluetooth only models. I will now have to replace my switches and will avoid this company like the plague.

### 1/5 — Bring back the old app

*2024-02-26, version 1.2.31*

They replaced the old app that everybody who bought defiants timers a few years back need, making the timers useless.

### 1/5 — Bring back the old Defiant Timer App

*2024-01-19, version 1.2.31*

This App does not work with headphone jack connected switches. The Defiant Timer App was removed from the App Store which controlled the switches that allowed data to be sent through a 3.5mm headphone jack cord. The previous app allowed the user to use the app to control the timer of the light. Now it’s rendered useless! This replacement app only allows a Bluetooth connection that the corded switch does not have functionality for. Please bring back the old app, Defiant Timer App.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2023-12-26, version 1.2.31*

This plug worked for a while. For some reason it did not work anymore. I tried resetting by deleting the app and redownloading and does not work at all says it can’t find the the device. I will not buy this brand again.

### 1/5 — Return the product

*2023-12-05, version 1.2.31*

And save yourself time messing around with an app that 10 years ago would have been rejected from the App Store for being trash.

There are too many companies doing it right to waste time with this junk.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2023-11-09, version 1.2.31*

The old app permitted hard wire connection and now this “new” app version will only connect with blue tooth enabled light switch. Am I suppose to replace the old switch??? I have no way to adjust the scheduled program now. You need to allow hard wire access for older switches.

### 1/5 — Defiant

*2023-09-24, version 1.2.31*

This is the worst app ever!!!! It does NOT work and you can’t control your lights so they are useless too. DO NOT BUY

### 1/5 — App crashes every time

*2023-09-12, version 1.2.31*

Crashes every time you try to configure the light. The app has not been updated in six years and is completely out of date with Apple software. This product has been rendered obsolete by lack of support. Do not buy any product associated with Defiant.

### 1/5 — No support for older models w/out Bluetooth

*2023-08-21, version 1.2.31*

Old app suddenly requires update and is no longer available in the App Store. New app only works with Bluetooth devices so I am stuck with a useless hardware.

### 1/5 — complete sham

*2023-07-29, version 1.2.31*

Do not buy these!!
The app does not update, older units are rendered completely useless and there is zero customer support. Complete garbage

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2026-03-28, version 1.2.31*

I upgraded my phone to iphone17 but the app didn’t transfer from my old phone. I have a non-Bluetooth timer so now have to look for an older iPhone with the software as I’m trading in my iPhone13 for credit.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-01-11, version 1.2.31*

Not working

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2026-01-10, version 1.2.31*

This app used to work fine, but now it doesn’t and shuts down during setup so it’s impossible to add a new light after deleting the one as suggested in their troubleshooting. They seem to not care in a fix since they have ignored this issue for quite some time. Don’t bother with home depot brands. Buy brands who stand behind their equipment. So many better choices now.

### 1/5 — Screw your Customers!

*2025-12-28, version 1.2.31*

Pathetic behavior by all involved including Home Depot, the “owner” of the original Defiant timer product. If you can’t, or refuse to support your products, then at least make the software Open Source so we can possibly still use the timers we purchased.

### 1/5 — Defiant obsolete

*2025-10-14, version 1.2.31*

Once you update your phone, your Defiant app becomes obsolete. A waste of money. I’ll be buying a different brand from now on.

### 1/5 — Can’t control older timer

*2025-10-05, version 1.2.31*

I have an older Defiant timer with plug in cord and the current app does not support it. I don’t have access to older app so what am I supposed to do now, buy a whole new timer? What a waste. Nice thinking about your customers. I’m not buying your items anymore. 😡

### 1/5 — Use Notify Blue App Instead

*2025-08-21, version 1.2.31*

This app won’t run even on my iPhone 11. Install the Notify Blue app instead. It isn’t great but did let me find and control my floodlight via Bluetooth.

### 1/5 — Not compatible with older timers

*2025-08-17, version 1.2.31*

The new app does not work on older timers. Please update the app or bring back the old app in the Apple Store.

### 1/5 — Should be illegal

*2025-07-28, version 1.2.31*

I have multiple non-Bluetooth automated switches from these people and apparently, they discontinued the old app and this one doesn’t support it. So, they made them unusable. I’d strongly recommend not buying anything from them because they’ll probably render that product useless, too.

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2025-07-20, version 1.2.31*

Just remove the wire mode app and let only the Bluetooth . what about the people who bought those kind of switches we have to throw them away to buy the Bluetooth ones now? this is just ripping off paper to not buy this kind of stuff.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Take the money and run!!!!

*2025-05-02, version 1.2.31*

I have an earlier version of the Defiant timer. Non Bluetooth. This means that I am forced to use my older iPhone 8 to program it. Frankly, in my opinion Defiant can kiss me where the sun don’t shine. It would have been no trouble whatsoever to provide support for their older products. They chose not to do so, thinking they’d force existing users to trash their old switches and purchase new ones. Defiant will never see another dime from me. If I ever upgrade, it will not via Defiant. They lost me as a customer.

### 5/5 — No problems.

*2024-04-17, version 1.2.31*

My iPhone grabbed. It. Easy setup.
At first was frustrated until I noticed the light I set up. The name u click on. And whole new menu
All the settings I needed

### 5/5 — Works fine for me

*2020-09-12, version 1.2.31*

I initially had my Defiant Bluetooth light paired with an Android 10 phone for a year or so. I just switched to an iPhone 11 this week and was a bit worried based on all the bad app reviews.

I walked outside, opened the app and scanned for lights. It immediately found my light and requested the PIN which I actually had thanks to LastPass. The light was immediately controllable and programmable! Total time spent: 4 minutes at most.

I understand there’s a lot of potential causes for issues, but at least try this app. You might have an good go of it like I did.

### 5/5 — Great app and the light works perfectly fine.

*2020-03-09, version 1.2.31*

Easy to install. The light works perfectly fine. The Bluetooth is a nice touch, it is nice to control your light settings with your phone.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2019-08-26, version 1.2.31*

Have two of these on my house for about 2 years now. No issues at all not sure why all the negative reviews?

### 5/5 — The app must be fixed

*2019-01-10*

I was also worried about the negative reviews but I had to play with the app a little bit and finally figured out how to turn the light off if I need to. I can also turn it on from the phone which is awesome because if I hear a noise I can turn it on from downstairs to scare away any bad guys (or cats). I love it!!

Useful tip: Use the manual override to control the on and off.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2018-07-24, version 1.2.31*

Not sure what’s up with all the neg reviews. This app works great with my new security lights.
I plan on buying a couple more

### 5/5 — Great App

*2018-07-18, version 1.2.31*

Bought this at HomeDepot..and like the other recent review the light and app worked flawlessly... setup could not be easier.

### 5/5 — Great lights and App

*2017-12-04*

I was worried about all of the negative reviews, but maybe they fixed the app. I have four of the Bluetooth floodlights around my property , and they are all controlled flawlessly by this app. Again, maybe they fixed the app, I would say it’s good to go. The only thing I wish I could do, and maybe I can but just have not figured it out, is to be able to completely disable a selected light on command from the app, instead of just being able to dim down to 50%. Either way, this app works great!

### 5/5 — Work like they should.

*2017-11-21*

I have seen a lot of negative reviews but I have yet to have any issues with either the app or the lights. I can stand 35 feet away in my house and adjust the app and it communicates with the lights just fine. No issues with Bluetooth at all and the lights are very bright and were very easy to install. The temperature here is in the upper 20’s, I would think if there were going to be issues the cold would bring them out. So far I am very pleased with the app and the lights.
