### 4/5 — My personal opinion on DefleMask

*2022-12-02, version 1.1.5*

I would prefer her if there was you know or like could you please tell me how to know get to go and come on son effect in DefleMask mobile I don’t know how I’m stumped but I am and also could you add super Nintendo game boy advanced and 32 X if that’s good with you OK bye

### 4/5 — Have one channel per instrument

*2022-09-05*

Is it possible to have one channel per instrument ? A different one for each instrument so it will be possible to sequence it with external sequencer. In what i am asking it will act exactly like genMDM

### 4/5 — Needs properly optimising for iPadOS

*2022-07-25, version 1.1.4*

Just a few things prevent this from working as well as other iPadOS apps…

1. When using an external keyboard (e.g. Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad), some of the documented shortcuts only work intermittently (like Tab for “note off”) or not at all (ctrl + d for Delete).

2. It doesn’t support iCloud/Files, so you have to manually move apps between “On my iPad” and “iCloud” to continue working with the desktop version.

3. It doesn’t respect the iPadOS “swipe up” gesture properly… when. you do this, the keyboard notes activate and overwrite part of your song (if you’re still in record mode).

4. It can be buggy and unstable at times… for example, the ability to name a pattern suddenly stops working (doesn’t accept any keyboard input).

Otherwise, it’s all good, and extremely convenient for writing chip tunes on the go!

### 4/5 — Great UI but only for chip sounds

*2022-04-25*

I like the UI of this tracker. However I believe it should be opened to other instruments than only chip sounds with a more advanced sampler as well as Auv3 host support.

### 4/5 — Great Update!

*2021-12-03, version 1.0.13*

Please give option to make the oscilloscope full screen so I can upload to YouTube.
This Chiptune software is awesome!

### 4/5 — MIDI OUT

*2021-06-06*

Please tell me how to appear this app in the another one’s MIDI OUT.

### 5/5 — Great app! But be aware IOS & Mac apps are different!

*2021-04-29, version 0.13.2*

Make sure you figure out if you want to use it on mobile or on the same machine as your SAW. I prefer to use a keyboard to play, cuz my fingers are just to fat for the little keyboard on my iPad Pro. Still a very powerful and great sounding tool.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2020-10-17, version 0.13.2*

Incredible bit of software. Great job!

### 5/5 — GET IT! Nothing like Delflemask.

*2020-07-04, version 0.13.2*

The only REAL video game music tracker that you will ever find. What's even better you ask? You can make it for multiple game consoles. NES, Genesis, C64 6581 AND 8580, and more. And most importantly, the quality is superb. What more can you ask for?

### 5/5 — CHARIZARDRISTIC!

*2020-06-02, version 0.13.2*

This Is AMAZING! I love the Old Vintage Video Game Console Chiptune sounds! Dont forget, You may Add Sony PlayStation 1 Chiptune sounds, and PS2 chiptune sounds too. I liked this app! Thank You!

### 5/5 — THANK YOU SO MUCH! :DDDDDD

*2020-05-27, version 0.13.2*

I wanted this because I wanted to make covers of Jack Stauber songs. This was the only awesome tracker I could find! I needed this! Thank you for making this amazing chiptracker!

Warmest regards

### 5/5 — Everything I wanted (and more)

*2020-05-24, version 0.13.2*

Phenomenal app, didn't expect this much. (I mainly use the program on Windows.) And the tutorial is outstanding; great to see an app developer provide that type of clear direction.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not great

*2026-07-31*

The notch of my iPhone is hiding some part of the UI, not great

### 1/5 — I kinda change my mind on the app

*2019-12-31, version 0.13.2*

I kinda like it but it’s very hard to use. Also there isn’t a wide amount of systems

### 3/5 — Poor Apple keyboard support

*2025-06-23, version 1.2.0*

I mean, supporting the keyboard at all is nice but it’s pretty broken. Keys aren’t mappable. The return key double presses, making it useless. Holding a key doesn’t repeat a press, making arrow key scrolling tedious. The trackpad can’t be used for making knob adjustments without scrolling wildly around the pattern editor. Trackpad support in general is pretty poor; it doesn’t even support gestures (especially scrolling). UI doesn’t line up with where you have to press to actually click it (scale is at 0.80, especially bad in lists like files). Just generally poor.

### 3/5 — Mixed Bag

*2025-02-12, version 1.2.0*

It’s a good app. The audio is one of the best features by far, but the UI is not mobile friendly. It’s really clunky and limits productivity.
It would be really nice if you could text input notes/octaves, if noise generators didn’t use some arbitrary value on the keyboard that takes forever, if you could navigate lists by tapping instead of whatever horrible dragging system they have right now, and the window clutter is really irritating.
I’m definitely impressed by the number of options in terms of sound cards but DefleMask is a pain to use.

### 3/5 — Struggling with Apple Official iPad Keyboard case

*2021-09-22, version 1.0.9*

I want to like it, but there’s a big blocker right now:

I’ve been using Ableton and Bitwig for years, so I know my way around DAWs and music production. and wanted to dive into the tracker workflow…

But the Return Key on my iPad keyboard doesn’t work properly with DefleMask. (Seems like a double key press bug where it momentarily starts playing and then stops).

Super frustrating to have to keep moving my hand off the keyboard to press the play button on the screen, kinda defeats the purpose of the Tracker workflow

I have the official Apple Keyfolio case for iPad Pro.

Messing around with touch-screen and everything seems great, but I really need keyboard support to work.

### 3/5 — Splendid, but needs Smart Keyboard support

*2020-03-04, version 0.13.2*

No real chance of me using this while I’m out and about due to lack of Smart Keyboard support.

Bluetooth keyboards work, of course, but apparently Apple’s own Smart Keyboard is “special”. This issue isn’t unique to Deflemask, of course, and I can understand how troublesome it must be for developers. In any case, thank you for all your hard work!

### 4/5 — Great But…

*2026-05-22, version 1.2.0*

I can’t make a definitive opinion since it’s a little too confusing for me to understand, I’ve done the tutorial multiple times and it still makes no sense. Just can there be a basic mode or something, that makes it a little more easy to understand?

### 4/5 — Good but needs 1 crucial change

*2024-11-21, version 1.1.9*

I really absolutely love this tracker but the 1 thing that really annoys me is that there is only 1 octave that doesn’t make a full scale.

Having the keyboard be able to change up to at least 3 or 4 octaves would be an absolute game changer in my opinion.

It honestly annoys me how limited the keyboard is in software.

### 4/5 — Relaunch app for portrait.

*2024-07-29, version 1.1.9*

Great tracker but I bought this because it looked like it worked in portrait. I hate working on things with my phone sideways. I’ve toggle the orientation lock and it doesn’t go portrait mode. Very disappointing.

Edit: the tutorial locks you into landscape. If you fully close the app and re-enter with your phone on portrait it should work.

### 4/5 — Authentic sound but cryptic UI

*2022-12-08*

What this app really needs is an (paid) option to use the sound engine from within any AU-Host on iPad. I ammsure there will be people loving this (on iPadOS) alien-like user interface as it looks and feels a bit like the 80s.

However it is limiting in many ways if you want to mix chip sounds with modern sound sources, beat boxes etc.

I would pay 20-25 bucks more if it could get a AU-Synth with this sound capabilities. Maybe there are others too. I really want to use it from Cubasis, Beatmaker etc.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Its still a good tracker

*2025-09-01, version 1.2.0*

Over here writing some swinging Jesus Jazz for the Genesis. So much fun

### 5/5 — For Famitracker Fans

*2025-06-17, version 1.2.0*

Definitely intuitive if you have a background with trackers already, its robust and if you can get a workflow going it is easily one of the best mobile trackers

### 5/5 — Alexandria

*2025-04-27, version 1.2.0*

Alexandria ELOHiM Sez there are 09 notes

### 5/5 — Awesome Tracker

*2025-01-19*

This is it guys. The best software in the market for making Chiptune music! 💪

### 5/5 — Solution or Future Update?

*2024-01-13, version 1.1.9*

I would like to see a solution or future update on adding DPCM to the NES sound chip. 7-bit PCM is okay, but it eats up a bunch of the NES’s memory, and if you want to use samples in your song to put into a game, you basically have no other choice. A solution would be greatly appreciated.

### 5/5 — I love Deflemask! I make covers of all different games.

*2023-09-10, version 1.1.9*

Genesis
Genesis (Extended Channel 3)
Arcade
Commodore 64 (SID 8580)
Commodore 64 (SID 6581)
Sega Master System
Sega Master System + FM Expansion
PC Engine
NES

### 5/5 — Wouldn't it be funny if Leonardo made a deflemask app for  watch

*2023-01-20, version 1.1.5*

.

### 5/5 — Very useful and user-friendly

*2022-08-27, version 1.1.4*

Deflemask was the first tracker software I had used, but in a few days I pretty easily got the hang of it. It has a decent array of systems to choose from, although I would enjoy a SNES tracker. It has a colour presets for the interface which can help with readability. Overall one of my best uses of money on a single app.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2022-06-24, version 1.1.3*

If you want to get into tracker sequencing and utilize a few more brain cells than a lot of mobile DAW platforms require, DefleMask is a great place to start. This app over-delivers in (fun)ctionality because it makes up for any features (usually unnecessary bells & whistles) it may lack, in what I guess you could call reative efficiency. Everything you need is there so long as you’re willing to think critically and improvise when necessary. There is nothing to stop you from rolling up your sleeves and busting out a chiptune single or EP for SoundCloud or BandCamp or iTunes made exclusively with DefleMask. Have fun.

### 5/5 — Is it good?

*2021-09-06*

Yes
