In modern versions of iOS, it crashes a lot. Somewhat useful when it works. ### 2/5 — frequently drops library additions *2023-03-31* Books will apparently scan into the library — showing an “added” status in the app and appearing in the library list— and then later just disappear. For example, I scanned 10 books and it only got 6 of them permanently added. I had to rescan 3 of them once and one of them twice. Seems to be an issue only with the scanner. Books added by searching in the desktop application have not been dropped. ### 3/5 — Scanner is fast and makes short work but has problems. *2020-08-19* I had a problem at first with scanning always returning an error. It turns out that I had to update the desktop app that my phone was paired with, but the way the error is returned, it felt like the phone app was having the error. I’ve also seen some scans come back with the wrong items (as others have reported). I don’t understand after all this time, why DL3’s library info cannot be replicated in the scanner app or a separate companion app for iOS. ### 4/5 — Excellent add-on for Delicious Library *2019-01-14, version 1.2* This makes entering items into Delicious Library a breeze. I agree that you should review the entries as you make them, but that is true of all data entering enterprises. This app works well. The option to enter manually is a help. ### 3/5 — I wish you could bulk delete items *2018-10-27* This app doesn’t seem updated in a timely manner. ### 2/5 — Seems like an incomplete solution *2018-01-22* All you can do is scan in (or type in) the ISBN number for an item - everything else has to be done back on the macOS app. About 30% of the books I scanned with this app came back with the wrong title looked up, and I couldn’t edit or change them on the iOS app - all I could do was delete them. I finally dug out an explanation on the DL3 support forum - it has to do with the type of barcodes used on some books. If you are using the trial version of Delicious Lib 3 on your Mac, this app stops working without any error message or indication of why it stopped after you enter 25 books. So you have to bop back and forth from the iPhone app to the Mac app during the entry process to keep things going. All in all, it’s a thin veneer of functionality on top of DL3 (which is itself getting long in the tooth). ### 4/5 — Great barcode scanner, needs add with photo *2017-05-30* I have a lot of un-scannable books, would love to have a picture of them and a placeholder item in Ye star base so I can lookup later in the desktop. Text recognition for the photo would be truly amazing. ### 1/5 — Great Idea that Doesn’t Work *2016-03-03* Very frustrating it say I have successfully paired with the DL3 however there’s a information note at the top of the screen saying the i am not paired. If I try to pair again it will ask if I want to pair with this library and unfair with the library I am currently paired with. I checked all system preferences and connections and still it does not load the scanned items. I have sat here and scanned over 70 items and none are being paired. It’s very frustrating and aggravating to try to use. I m deleting it and will have to manually input everything. ### 5/5 — Love It! *2015-12-30, version 1.0* Love it👍 ### 3/5 — Good enough, But not great… *2015-12-21* It does what it’s supposed to do. It scans barcodes, finds your item, and attaches it to your database. Just what I’d expect a 3rd party dev to be able to do. From the dev, I really expect a bit more. Like the ability to browse my database on my iPhone or iPad. Why should I need to be at my desktop to see my collection. Even a static copy that only syncs when I’m on Bluetooth (or some similar setup) would be better than nothing. Hopefully this is part of a planned update — else why build a universal app? But for now it does what it says it will do, and does it okay. So, okay: OK. I came here from the website and all i see are these terrible reviews, I need a solution that works now and apparently support doesn't answer either so imma skip this for now and NOT BUY THE MAC SOFT BASED ON APP STORE REVIEWS ### 1/5 — Abandonware *2022-01-29, version 2.0.1* This was a good app, but is no longer supported. I bought two licences for Delicious Library that no longer work, so this is a waste of time and space and money. ### 1/5 — Not working *2021-07-14, version 2.0.1* Crashes as soon as one tries to pair with the desktop app. No response from developer. ### 1/5 — Does not work *2021-02-18, version 2.0.1* I scan an item, then tap the share icon in the upper right and the app crashes - this includes scanning the bar code on the desktop app to pair! ### 1/5 — instant crash on paring *2020-09-28, version 2.0.1* seems virtually like abandonware ### 1/5 — Totally Useless *2020-09-08, version 2.0.1* I easily scanned in half a dozen books, with apparent complete success - until I went to pair my phone with the desktop app. The pairing appeared to go fine, but nothing actually imported. All the scans were there - but not a single one actually showed the book in question or any of its data, only the barcode number. Neither the “Refresh Details from Internet” nor the “Revert All Details from Internet” selections under the Amazon Link menu did anything. The books did all show up correctly online when I selected “View Book on Amazon” (or the other two options in that section), but the data still didn’t populate the app. In *every single case,* I received a boxed error message that read “Line 1: Space required after the Public Identifier. Line 1: SystemLiteral “ or ‘ expected. Line 1: SYSTEM or PUBLIC, the URI is missing.” It appears that the app is expecting a space or some other character following the barcode, which apparently isn’t there, and clearly the scanner isn’t adding it in. I unpaired and repaired the two devices several times, rescanned all of the barcodes (including the pairing one) several times, and got the same error every time. I last used the Delicious app a number of years ago and forgot about it until today, but however I got the entries I made then into the app, I am absolutely certain I did not have to manually enter anything the way this scanner app is obviously requiring that I do, which clearly renders it completely useless. I updated it, so I’m running the current version on Catalina 10.15.3, and iOS 12.4.6 on an iPhone 6 Plus. I’m really disappointed because I really like that the basic app allows connecting directly to Amazon Seller Central, which *ought* to mean I could easily list the items I want to sell, but obviously the data has to get into the app in the first place for that to work. Uh, hello, Delicious Monster? What is going on? Why is your scanner not working? These are all brand new books with current barcodes, so it’s not like it’s not picking up an old format. Hint: There is NO WAY I am going to spend $40 on your main app if I can’t even easily scan my items into it. ### 1/5 — App does not do what it says! *2020-07-11* Edit: 2 emails to “support” have gone unanswered. After scanning over 500 books with my phone, (1/4 of my library). I wanted to export to CVS file to have a backup. I did the export AND THE ISBN field was blank! Needless to say, I am beyond annoyed. Use Libib, it works. I had the most recent version 3 on my Mac. ### 1/5 — Stopped working *2019-10-02, version 1.2* This has stopped working and there hasn’t been an update for years. When I asked Delicious Monster support for help, they say the problem is because Amazon doesn’t allow look up of those products. Where is the true companion to Delicious Library that was promised years ago? I started using DL when it first came and it continues to amaze me. Invaluable in keeping me organized and updated. ### 5/5 — Still working fine - iOS15 *2022-06-21, version 2.0.1* Scans very quickly and accurately. No miss-fires yet. The app may gave an uncertain future now but still works perfectly. I can scan a book bar-code and it is instantly added to Delicious Library on my Mac. It can also save scanned codes to the Notes app instead to use later if not at home etc. Very useful and time-saving. ### 5/5 — Makes cataloging a library easy *2020-01-10* This handy app is just the thing to quickly load up your books, movies, music, etc. into your Delicious Library! ### 5/5 — Better than a hand scanner *2017-08-28* I've been using Delicious 2 for years to maintain a list of thousands of books, music, video games and movies we own. Upgraded to Delicious 3 and I've been able to check in / verify our library so much faster with this app. I'd gladly pay $20 for a "pro" version that kept a CSV file (or the like) synced between the phone and the Mac so when I'm out at the used books/CD/DVD store that I can confirm already have or "buy it" right there. For now I export to Numbers, cleanup in Excel and keep a copy on my Dropbox. ### 5/5 — Delicious scanner. *2017-04-23* Very good, versatile. Important addition to the delicious library software. ### 5/5 — "A perfectly implemented companion app" *2017-04-14, version 1.2* A solid and dependable companion app for Delicious Library, that frees you from your desktop when scanning barcodes into the app. Pairs quickly and easily, and has demonstrated consistently effective performance. ### 5/5 — Great functionality with companion OS software *2017-03-16* (1) Sync phone with Mac Software (2) Scan Barcode or type in ISBN (3) Verify correct edition/book (Sometimes barcodes are linked to incorrect book as a result of the nature of barcodes and not the app) (4) Make adjustments This app works like a charm with an incredibly versatile OS software. I have a plethora of old resource books. When the wrong edition pops up, I can quickly edit the information in the OS software. I can copy and paste correct cover art without opening endless menus. I highly recommend the OS software. While the app lacks the ability to access your library in the OS software, you can export your library as a PDF and use kindle or another reader to search your database while out shopping. I'm hoping to see improvements on these features in the future. ### 5/5 — Major asset for Delicious Library users *2016-10-27* Delicious library is an essential app for anyone with lots of books. Indexing your books is much easier with this free app. So far it has worked for all books with bar codes. You can always enter the information by hand for older or rare books. ### 5/5 — Delicious monster is a great tool *2016-08-27* The scanner in conjunction with the Delicious Monster cataloging software have saved me time and trouble. As a librarian who loves to organize things and has a lot of books, this program allows me to organize, change and keep track the books. Not just books but appliances, collections, just about anything you want to keep track of. For insurance purposes, if anything happens to my house, I have a fully updated download of just about everything I own. It is compatible with other systems, because it seems to use a format similar to a MARC record, the standard format for libraries. Give it a try.
