You really do have a lot of freedom, and the interface is good, if not great. Check out the “rules” that you can use to automate how your lights respond to your presence and other factors such as a schedule! The rest of this review is directed at the devs: please add some additional functionality to the Notification Center widget, I think it is seriously underused, and it could have the potential to basically replace opening the app in almost all cases. Next, if there could be some improvement to how detected music affects the lighting, that would really be great. I find I don’t use the music visualizer at all because it really is just based on noise. Simple talking will throw it off, and otherwise it just really seems like it’s a crazed and uncoordinated color show. Finally, there is a bug that will not allow me to delete saved color profiles from my “starred” colors. However, the new bulbs are 7W, and the old ones 8W. 8W is no longer available. The new bulbs only change to different shades of blue/green or pinks/light purple and white. No reds, orange, deep yellow. Definitely not something to have to rely on. Great when it works but only works 50% of the time. Pre-set timers work great and once set, don’t require the app. This brings me to my poor rating/review.... Since this is a review of the app, outside of setting the automatic timers when you first set up/install the bulb, this app is fairly useless & frustrating to use. It got 1 more star than it truly deserves because if it did work, it’d be a pretty cool app... but I’ve had this app (and bulb) for three+ years and the connection issue still exists. I love all the features. From the burglar feature to the sms text call alert to the proximity feature and all the others. The fact that the lightbulb does not require a hub or additional equipment in order to work is one of the main reasons why I purchased it. It works straight from my iPhones Bluetooth. I set the light color to whatever I am watching. Like if I’m watching a horror movie, I set the light to red. If I’m watching an action movie, I turn on the music visualizer and it’s a whole new experience. I have art pictures and posters hanging on my walls and with the kaleidoscope feature, some of the art seems almost like it’s in motion due to how the different colors of light enhance or cancel out certain colors in the art. It’s BEAUTIFUL! I gave it five stars because its to easy, I love it and it’s awesome. My only question is how to keep the music visualizer going when the phone screen times out. When the screen times out, the lightbulb stays on one color. Thank You!!! Thank You!!! Some of the special effects (candle flicker, strobe) did not seem to work. However, I soon noticed that a firmware update was available. Downloaded the update, deleted and reinstalled the app (as other reviewers recommended) and all controls work flawlessly! Even installed the app on my iPad 3rd generation. It works just as well as my iPhone 6. Near instantaneous response from all the controls and special effects.
