### 1/5 — Don’t bother to scan the QR code

*2019-01-11, version 4.3.3*

Just bought my first Dell product, ever. Scanned the QR code, was asked to download and install an app, which I did, and then – just as everyone says – it didn’t find the product at all.

I would say, if you download the app, it’s probably a waste of time.

### 1/5 — Laughable

*2017-05-19, version 1.0.3*

Having read the reviews I was expecting a disappointment, yet I was STILL surprised at how dysfunctional the app is. An un-bypassable nag screen pops up after your first QR scan, and tells you to upgrade to the new and improved app! Click that link, and it sends you right back here. Hah! Is this really the best a $55B/yr company can do?

### 1/5 — Not useful - will not scan

*2017-05-11, version 1.0.3*

As others have said it's virtually useless. You can't just enter service tag and today it is not scanning the QR code. The browse list doesn't even list a PowerEdge R210!!?
I even reinstallled it because for some reason when I opened it I received message it needed to be updated but there were no updates showing in App Store.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2017-02-15, version 1.0.3*

It doesn't work don't bother!

### 1/5 — Not Helpful

*2017-01-24, version 1.0.3*

Cannot view *anything* about the Poweredge 2950 I just bought. Manual and quick reference guides available on the website have only basic information--nowhere near helpful. I'm trying to find the bus width and speed of the pci-e risers that came installed with the device and this seemed like the best resource for it, but no such luck. How can Dell not know what their own computers are made out of?

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2016-11-23, version 1.0.3*

Don't bother. This thing is so old, and incomplete, it does nothing useful. Dell, please try again. Something that I can use to scan service tags and get quick information. How hard can that be?

### 1/5 — Useless

*2016-10-12, version 1.0.3*

I wanted this to work. I want to be able to enter service tags and get instant information.
As all of the other reviewers state, you really have to drill into product lines down into a product to be able to get to Service tag entry.
Then it got worse. I entered tags that I looked up on their web site hours ago. Said invalid tag. On the screen it says if it gives that very message on a valid tag just keep entering it until it comes up. After 6 times typing it I gave up.
I'm going to waste just a little more time, uninstalling it.

### 1/5 — Rubbish and utterly useless

*2016-04-26, version 1.0.3*

Simply doesnt work, and complete waste of time.

### 1/5 — Come on dell

*2016-01-31, version 1.0.3*

Get your gadgets working.
Doesn't work for me.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2015-11-05, version 1.0.3*

It said "QR Code doesn't support" when I scan.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2015-09-24, version 1.0.3*

Using a generic QR code reader is much easier. For some reason the Dell app just takes you to a generic page with the server family on it. It doesn't display the service tag, warranty or parts listing.

Just use red laser or something and have it load the url into safari.

### 1/5 — Service Tag lookup not intuitive

*2015-01-17, version 1.0.3*

I am a consultant/engineer. I service many servers and businesses. I tell people all the time to replace their servers and computers and their first question is... how old is the one I've got?

This tool would be great if I could just plug in the ST quickly of an old server or computer and pull the age/ship/warranty info.

As it is now you have to go into a random product and then you can enter a ST. This doesn't make sense.

Is the app a promo tool for current gen products and the access to old equipment info is a happenstance? If so, this is wrong. The app should be a tool for persons managing new and old equipment and selling new.

Dell continues to miss the mark on making their information open and useable. I hope this app gets a rework and a new consideration.

### 1/5 — Good, but incomplete attempt by dell

*2014-12-20, version 1.0.3*

Installed app because wanted to lookup service tags and (in the AppStore description) it appeared to simply scan the service tag barcode for access to warranty info/original hardware configuration info/manuals/error code info/etc...it does not work this way...it only works with some products that have a QR code. The only way to do a service tag lookup is to select a random product (I selected a poweredge server) and then select service tag lookup. The service tag lookup should be the very first thing that a user encounters in a dell app of this nature, but it is awkward to accomplish a svc tag lookup because of the design. Love the info that appears for the server section in that it provided internal and external info, videos, diagrams.

Product selection is not complete and lacks consistency across the various product lines...I don't really care about consumer-targeted products, but this app shows three Inspiron laptops instead of even one latitude laptop...and only shows precision workstations instead of Optiplex desktops...venue 7/8 instead of venue 11 and latitude-based tablets, etc.

Dell has a neat concept, but it just seems partially finished. Uninstalling.

### 2/5 — Good potential

*2013-02-02, version 1.0.2*

Great potential. Needs ability to check any service tag and pull up original config as well as warranty status. Would be nice if it could read a standard service tag bar code, not just the newer models with qr codes.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — This app should be taken down. It’s worthless. Doesn’t work.

*2024-02-17*

This app should be taken down. It’s worthless. Doesn’t work. All it can do for me is crash again and again. I cannot even locate resources manually by entering in the service tag. Nothing works. #abandonedapp

### 1/5 — Crashes when trying to read QR

*2022-03-16, version 5.0.9*

Will read device description QR on top of service tag will crash when attempting to read bottom of tag QR code.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all

*2020-08-16, version 5.0.0*

It scans the QR and then stops working. It reports there’s an updated version and tells you to download it from the App Store but there’s no new version on the App Store

- 15Aug2020 update. Remains a completely useless application. I updated to the latest version and even reboot the iPhone. The app appeared to scan the QR code on a brand new server and then displayed a spinning circle for 10 minutes. I looked up the service tag with Safari on the same iPhone, no issues with that, so it’s not about internet service. What the heck is wrong with you Dell?

### 1/5 — Buggy and crashes a lot

*2020-04-08, version 4.4.5*

Come on Dell, you charge a premium for your devices. Show some love to the app developers. If the product isn’t ready, don’t release it.

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2019-09-25, version 4.4.2*

Scans the QR code, then hangs - on a brand new r440 edge server. Completely useless, just like their BTLE app which keep popping up dialog boxes about certificates.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work as expected

*2019-08-04, version 4.4.0*

Same problems as others reported. Buggy. Doesn’t work. Browse leaves a blank white page, Crashes. Says there’s an update but no update in App Store. I’m not able to use this app. Waste of time. Hope Dell gets their * together

### 1/5 — Utter Broken Garbage

*2019-08-04, version 4.4.0*

App is non-functional

### 1/5 — Oh my

*2019-07-25, version 4.4.0*

I cannot believe how bad this app is. I’d love to see the functionality... if it would simply run on my iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 12.3.1. Crashes or displays prompt to update for which there is no update. If I bypass the update go to lookup, the QR code reader does not recognize a QR code. You cannot turn on the light to read a QR in a dark location (e.g. a server in a rack). Selecting Service Tag lookup freezes the app immediately or upon keying a character or two.

Bad. Really bad.

### 1/5 — What?!

*2019-07-11, version 4.4.0*

A stock QR reader works better than this specialized app.

### 1/5 — Spinning Star of Death...... useless non-working App

*2019-07-06, version 4.4.0*

Developers really need to test the App before releasing it. Doesn’t work at all!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Way better now

*2018-05-15, version 4.3*

This useful app is way more usable now. Dell seems to be going in the right direction in terms of design of this app. It is easy to find information and the videos have been useful for me time and again.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2012-05-25, version 1.0*

I am really impressed!

### 5/5 — Great for dell server lookup

*2012-05-04, version 1.0*

The online videos and parts diagrams are great.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2012-04-11, version 1.0*

super helpful.. easy to use.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2012-04-03, version 1.0*

Really useful for troubleshooting without needing my laptop!

### 4/5 — Had not worked once

*2017-10-27, version 4.2.2*

I run an outfit with about 50 Dell workstations and servers, most less than 5 years old. This app has never scanned any of them.

Update: I keep this app on my phone, hoping that some future update will provide the obvious function everyone wants; enter the machine's Dell service tag to get PC info and warrantee status. No luck yet.

October 2017 update: Now works nicely!

### 4/5 — Nice videos

*2016-12-31, version 1.0.3*

Videos are good but needs more and support more products

### 4/5 — A good start

*2016-12-09, version 1.0.3*

It's OK. Videos are nice. UI needs work. It's good if you have a current system, but not old ones.

### 3/5 — app has potential

*2013-01-23, version 1.0.2*

My major feature request would be to quickly access this original as-shipped configuration of a system when given a Service Tag.

### 3/5 — Needs support for older models

*2012-11-02, version 1.0.2*

This app has potential. It's great for newer models but not for older ones (PE 2900, 2950 etc...). I hope they add support for older models and continue adding vids which are great refreshers. The service tag input is nice for warranty info and does work for older models.
