## What is DEM?

El Diccionario del español de México (DEM) es resultado de un conjunto de investigaciones del vocabulario utilizado en la República Mexicana a partir de 1921.

Es un diccionario integral del español, en su variedad mexicana, elaborado sobre la base de un amplio estudio del Corpus del español mexicano contemporáneo (1921-1974) y de un conjunto de datos que cubren desde esa última fecha hasta el presente.

Se trata de una obra original, de carácter descriptivo, hecha con criterios exclusivamente lingüísticos. Todo el vocabulario que incluye ha sido usado o se usa en México, al menos desde 1921.

Además de las definiciones, la aplicación del DEM ofrece a sus usuarios algunas otras ayudas, como un apartado sobre reglas de ortografía, otro sobre prefijos y sufijos, uno más sobre la escritura de los números, una lista de los principales gentilicios, etc. Todos estos apoyos están disponibles fuera de línea.

Me parece una excelente propuesta para crear un diccionario sobre lo mexicano, una posible versión robusta a comparación del que ofrece la RAE.

Opino que sería genial si pudiese funcionar sin internet y anexarle un índice.
