I feel this is just another example of limiting free speech. In my opinion, one’s right to to say what they want without fear of repercussion preempts one’s contrary beliefs as long as the statement is not threatening or a call for violence. The author’s comment was not in the comic and therefore should not have been a legitimate reason to withdraw the strip. ### 4/5 — Gives you access to the look & feel of a real paper *2023-03-07* As cost to ride with paper delivery, and the Contant of the printed edition has shrunk, we find this a reasonable compromise. We wish there was more local reporting. Local reporting seems to have been scaled back and Local high school sports has been significantly scaled back in recent years. Duplication of national news in the national section and USA today insert has been frustrating. The web access gives us the ability to remain in touch with whatever local reporting might take place and its presentation in the appearance of the printed edition is helpful. ### 4/5 — Almost as good as holding the D&C in my hands! *2023-02-05, version 3.6.13* Having a newspaper (and once upon a time TWO papers!) is a life-long habit for me. Your issues are getting smaller and smaller and not really worth your subscription prices, so specials on digital papers are a life saver! Don’t let those get out of sight, please…. ### 4/5 — Improving but can still use some work *2023-01-27, version 3.6.13* I read the digital print addition. Old school, I guess. I read on an iPad Pro which is perfect for reading the paper. The biggest issue is the somewhat erratic behavior of the PDF when zooming in from the full page. The print and graphics refreshing to sharp readable form can be slow and non uniform. Most of a section will be fine, but a paragraph or two refuses to refine. Very annoying when that occurs. Editorially, way too much space given to sports, IMO. I know some can’t get enough. Any is too much for my tastes. I am devoted to the comics section. Used to be a full two pages, now it’s one. Be warned that if the comics disappear, so does my subscription. I get better “news” reporting from the NYT and WP, so the D&C is expendable if the comics go. ### 4/5 — Great app want better search *2022-11-06, version 3.6.13* Love being able to look at past editions. I called phone number provided for their help desk two weeks ago only to be told that they are working on it. Honestly if they had a 0 rating for this review at this point I would select it. We pay them monthly for this garbage but was not offered a refund or adjustment in any way. If they don’t fix it soon I will cancel my subscription and I’m sure many other people will probably do the same thing. You would think that at a time when everyone is struggling to keep their businesses alive they would jump in with both feet to correct this problem. ### 1/5 — Deficient *2020-02-19, version 2.9.10* Many items fail to come into focus. Pictures are extremely low res. When it fails to work, error messages are unhelpful. Tells me I have no internet connection when the problem is most likely their server. Thought it would work better on my brand new iPad but this was wishful thinking. Update a year later: the app still stinks. And the content it delivers has been becoming increasingly meaningless, as they expect me to get news and sports info elsewhere. I may finally pull the plug on my subscription, but what to do about the Funnies? And a few months later: The D&C company is unresponsive to any complaints concerning this app. Some of their employees don’t even know the distinction between their website and this app. A thoroughly frustrating experience. Down to one star. ### 1/5 — Rarely functions *2020-01-02, version 2.9.10* This app rarely works right. Opening the app frequently get internet not available messages when internet is functional for all other devices and apps on said device I am using. When enlarging the page the page forward functions disappear & can only be restored by exiting the app. All pictures are lost when using the app function to read a specific article. And now as of January 1st the app is not working at all. Don’t waste your time installing this app. ### 1/5 — Hard to scroll up without app paging forward or backward *2016-07-27, version 2.6.49* The latest app revision introduced a major problem. It is now almost impossible to scroll up on the screen to see the bottom of the page in landscape mode. This new app version instead either pages back or forward a page. It's nearly uncontrollable. This happens on two iPad's Pro in our household. It's infuriating. It takes us twice as long to read paper. Gannett is trying to convince customers that they've "gone digital". Not!! Fix the bugs! ### 2/5 — You asked. *2020-10-22, version 3.2.43* Too bad the D&C is far left of moderate. I see lots of stuff repeatedly about bad guys and how they are mistreated and have streets named after them and relatively little about the good things real Americans are doing for our poor, our elderly, our veterans who are trying to keep us free, save our young, save lives. But then again, the good stuff doesn’t sell papers. ### 2/5 — What’s going on? *2020-10-14, version 3.2.43* After using the app for a long time, was unable to open it at all today...simply got a white screen. So, I deleted the app and have been trying to reinstall it....absolutely no luck! Keep clicking on it and nothing happens...so can’t even reload the app. So very frustrating! ### 2/5 — Keeps crashing when article opened *2020-10-04, version 2.9.10* When opening an article it will appear briefly then the app crashes. Have to restart the app many times to read the paper. So far the app will restart and I can go to the original article without an issue... but going to the next article will crash the app at least 50% of the time. ### 2/5 — Terrible with iOS 14 *2020-09-26, version 2.9.10* I loaded ios14 a couple weeks ago and ever since this app is not working on my iPad. It will randomly remove all content on the page I’m reading , and/or randomly shut down the app. I only have the digital access to the paper. My wife’s iPad had not been upgraded to ios14 and does not have the same problems. I have no problems with any other app. Get it fixed ### 2/5 — More bugs! *2020-02-16, version 2.9.10* This app worked great for a while after an upgrade, but now it's back to being buggy. Won't load, says it's offline when it's not. When you can get it loaded, The pictures and articles are be too blurry to read. I'm paying money for this subscription and like to read it in this format as to the short attention span articles of the other online app. Also, am wondering why know one from the app developers are responding or addressing complaints. ### 2/5 — Content great. Navigation mediocre. *2017-03-09, version 2.6.49* They finally got the real news of the print edition. Now if they had the resources they could make it useful like the NYTimes app for navigation instead of basically a straight scan of the news print edition. It left me with mountains of paper to recycle, not fun. The app allows easy access, pinch and zoom features, color photos and an extended edition that’s almost a whole newspaper by it’s self. The app is fast and high quality. ### 5/5 — Feedback *2023-04-11* I Love reading my D&C I never thought I could read digitally— after having the newspaper spread out on my breakfast table with my coffee.. But I no longer have paper piled up to discard..
