The playback timeline now waits until you touch it before joining the session, so whatever's on screen keeps playing. Say "Hey Siri, mute the TV" — or open the remote, change the volume, and play or pause, all without unlocking your phone. Add them to Shortcuts, automations, or the Action button. A faster cold start. The app no longer spins up Cast machinery it doesn't need on launch, so the remote is on screen and ready noticeably sooner. Straight back to your TV.
