### 2/5 — Scam!!

*2026-07-06, version 1.7.3*

When it was originally released it stored videos and photos to a Depstech album. Now they want read/write access to all your photos to use the camera. Avoid the app, do not buy the hardware!!

### 2/5 — Update 1.7.3 killed their older borescopes!

*2026-03-10, version 1.7.3*

I’ve owned and loved my borescope made by this company for over 3 years. It never had a single problem until they updated from 1.7.2 to 1.7.3. Once 1.7.3 came out, the borescope didn’t work anymore. I’ve tried everything, including downloading the app on other devices made by different brands, to no avail, but the moment I pulled out my +3-year-old iPhone with the previous app version still on it. Suddenly the borescope works without any hitches. They made an update for their app to kill their previous model borescopes to force owners to buy a new one! Shame shame!!

### 2/5 — Started requiring full access to photos

*2026-01-16, version 1.7.3*

Just like the title says, the app started requiring full access to my Photos in order for me to save pictures and videos from this endoscope. If I had just bought this, I’d be returning it and getting a standalone version.

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2025-04-18, version 1.7.3*

It was ok until the latest iso update now it won’t connect at all

### 1/5 — Connection Problem

*2025-04-06, version 1.7.3*

I’ve had this device several years - it has often been unable to connect to the server, and today it just won’t at all. The device was not cheap and I expected it to work consistently. Very disappointed. If I could return it I definitely would do so.

### 2/5 — Poor and in big need of update

*2025-03-29, version 1.7.3*

For iOS this app is 2+ years old and really does need updating. As a result it doesn’t recognise “Limited Access” in Photos settings and demands full access to Photos if you want to take photos of the images. I had to enable full access then remove it after taking the pictures. It’s very laggy too when used with my WF020X endoscope, making it tiresome to use.

### 1/5 — Does not support the usb connection

*2025-03-25, version 1.7.3*

Attempted to connect through the type c connection but so does not allow for hardwire connection only WiFi

### 3/5 — Not working - iOS 18.3.1

*2025-03-08, version 1.7.3*

After iOS update I now cannot connect to my WiFi DEPSTECH endoscope. Please fix. Worked for me before, good unit.

### 1/5 — Work on almost every iphone but mine

*2025-03-01, version 1.7.3*

Title say it all .

### 2/5 — Bug

*2025-02-25, version 1.7.3*

The app is ok. The UI is pretty straightforward and user friendly. However, recently the app has been continuously disconnecting from the device.

### 1/5 — Needs access to my whole photo library?

*2025-02-06, version 1.7.3*

This app is sketchy. When trying to record a photo/video, it states that it needs access to my entire photo library. Why? The developers should have designed the app to request permissions to add photos only. No idea why Depstech would need access to my entire photo library, including all associated Metadata!!

### 1/5 — App crashes immediately

*2024-12-26, version 1.7.3*

Reinstall won’t work. Makes company’s devices unusable

### 1/5 — Piece of trash

*2024-12-03, version 1.7.3*

This is the worst app trash don’t even bother

### 1/5 — TRASH

*2024-11-10, version 1.7.3*

If I could give zero I would you can’t connect sometimes and when you do it says network disconnect I will never ever use this again

### 2/5 — Stopped working

*2024-07-05, version 1.7.3*

I really liked this product. However, it keeps saying it is not connected to the Internet, even though I can see DEPSTECH in my Wifi list. Everything comes on, but it will not connect so that I can see video on my screen.

### 3/5 — App design is poor, cannot save picture without gigging full access to photos.

*2024-06-16, version 1.7.3*

App design is poor, cannot save picture without gigging full access to photos.

### 4/5 — Only app that worked with my camera model

*2024-06-13, version 1.7.3*

I tried a bunch of apps but none allowed an arbitrary SSID - they were targeting specific manufacturers/models. I have no ability to change settings, like adjusting the LED strength, but at least I can see the default view.

### 2/5 — Sends Telemetry to servers in China

*2024-05-13, version 1.7.3*

As the title suggests, this application sends telemetry packets to servers in China. You have to grant the app permission to search for devices on the local network in order for it to find the WiFi camera tools that the app supports. You can and should deny the app access to cellular data, but this does not prevent to app from “calling home” once your device disconnects from the camera tools WiFi network and reconnects to any of your other saved WiFi networks. Call me paranoid, but this type of behavior is a massive security risk and should never be tolerated.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Product

*2026-05-21, version 1.7.3*

It doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-04-24, version 1.7.3*

“When it works” at best 4 out of 10. Too bad 90% of time it just doesn’t work. No star rating.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all

*2026-02-21, version 1.7.3*

Total waste of time. Simply doesn’t connect or load to the camera. Junk

### 1/5 — Unit Sucks

*2026-02-13, version 1.7.3*

Impossible to connect to iPhone 16pro

### 1/5 — App is Non-Functional

*2026-01-10, version 1.7.3*

I am trying to connect my WF028 scope. My phone is connected to the scopes WiFi but the app shows no images. There are no indications on what is happening and after going through the vendor’s reset procedure a dozen times I’m giving up. I’ve used this scope and app twice and at the end of my efforts have a single picture and a single five second video of a static image.

### 1/5 — Complete Chinese spyware garbage.

*2025-11-27, version 1.7.3*

I got totally ripped off with this camera. They were so preoccupied on programming spyware that they never made the camera actually work correctly.

### 1/5 — Not Compatible with IOS 18+

*2025-10-03, version 1.7.3*

Have had the WIFI Inspection Camera for years and used it with no issues on IOS 14 to 17. Even after 8 years the battery still holds a full days charge. But I was unable to connect to the camera using the old software today using IOS 18 when it was really needed. I installed this app in the hope it was an upgrade. The app has an issue connecting to the device regardless of the settings.if it does connect then it continually freezes, requiring a restart. Basically the device is now useless without working software. Unfortunate. The camera was my go-to device for multiple DIY projects on my vehicles and in the house. Was hoping this would be the last endoscope I would ever need to purchase.

### 1/5 — it used to be good

*2025-09-07, version 1.7.3*

I tried using it today after a year or two since last use. The old software now only shows up with Chinese text. I downloaded a different version and it seemed to work, but it requires that you give full access to the photo album. I have no plans of saving any photos, but it will not allow me to get past that step to use the device.

if you need something like this, then find a different option!

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2025-08-09, version 1.7.3*

Developers no longer update the app and like everyone else is reporting: it no longer works. Very bad, because the unit was not cheap and the physical unit powers up, etc, it just can’t connect. Now a very great piece of equipment will go in the trash because of greedy/lazy developers.
I made sure IOS and app are up to date.

### 1/5 — Won’t load video stream

*2025-07-10, version 1.7.3*

App will not connect to endoscope on iPhone 16 Pro, loading circle just rotates for ever.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 3 years later, still awesome

*2025-08-15, version 1.7.3*

Bought a camera to use in tight spaces on my car, 3 years ago, I’ve used it countless times, never had an issue. Connection is super fast, turn on the device, go to WiFi on your phone and find DEPSTECH and click connect. It may connect then show WiFi not connected or no WiFi, that’s normal, after clicking the correct WiFi, return to the app and it should be automatically displaying an image. Was going to have my friend download this app to use it also and discovered all the negative reviews, sounds more or less like you guys bought a different inspection camera than me, mine came with a super long cord, probably 25 feet, option to turn up and down brightness of the light, attachment tips such as a hook for the end to grab hard to reach items. Never have had a problem with the inspection camera nor any problems with the application, I’ve use it on android phones and currently using it on iPhone 15 pro max, 5/5 3 years so far and it’s still working amazing for me.

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2024-11-26, version 1.7.3*

Works as expected for $20 can’t complain. Super easy to connect to phone and worked right away.

### 5/5 — Excellent video quality

*2023-03-31, version 1.7.3*

Takes a few seconds for phone to pick up Wi-Fi network of the scope. Very easy to use with excelllent video quality, even looking for a lost item at the bottom of a koi pond. Only need to give permisssion to access a named folder to store captured images and not your whole photo/video library as some have stated. Never asks for location services to be enabled for the app. Would recommend.

### 5/5 — It worked for me!

*2023-03-22, version 1.7.3*

I have iPhone 13 Pro Max and WF028. Don’t know why there are so many 1 stars but I faced minimal lag and it was streaming video. The quality is obviously not like a phone but enough to figure out what is behind walls.

### 5/5 — All good with high res 5MP WF028

*2023-03-01, version 1.7.2*

It works fine without registering and without giving permission for photo album access...but of course it needs access if you want to save more than screen shots.

### 5/5 — Works just fine, you whiners!

*2023-01-11, version 1.7.2*

Connected to an iPhone XS Max easily and quickly by wifi. Resolution good for the quality and cost of the connected device. * I have experience using industrial endoscopes to inspect telecom conduit.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2022-12-29, version 1.7.2*

App works really well with my iPhone 12.
Allowed me to locate a buried valve in the wall with the endoscope. Endoscope worked great!

### 5/5 — Okay China, you win

*2022-12-09, version 1.7.2*

This is awesome.

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2022-09-19, version 1.7.2*

I just received the Depstech WF070 HD Inspection Camera from Amazon, unboxed it and it immediately worked perfectly on my iPhone 11 running IOS 15.6. Not sure why the negative reviews on the app - simple to configure, use, capture stills and video. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I hope it continues to work this perfectly!

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2022-03-24, version 1.6.8*

Super simple to set up, app collects zero user data so says apple, and works as advertised. Pretty amazing technology.
