## What is Depth Ecology?

Depth Ecology is a journal for the inner work — a quiet place to notice what moves through you, and to see, over time, the patterns underneath.

No account, no sign-up, no password. Open it and start writing.

The practice has three movements, and the app follows them.

NOTICE AND RECORD
Two kinds of entry, both quick to make:
• Observations — what arises within you: dreams, bodily sensations, thoughts, feelings, impressions of your surroundings, and impulses.
• Life events — the outer happenings: significant moments, turning points, anything that happened.

When writing is too slow, dictate instead. Speech is transcribed on your own phone; if you would rather have Apple's more accurate transcription, you can switch on Online dictation in Settings.

DRAW OUT SYMBOLS
From the words in your own entries, pull out the recurring images and themes that carry meaning for you. Long-press a word and it becomes a symbol, linked back to every entry that mentions it — so the threads between entries become visible without you having to hold them in your head.

SEE THE PATTERNS
Observations, life events and symbols are laid out together on a timeline, so you can watch how they rise and fall across weeks, months and years.

TAKE IT INTO A SESSION
Export a PDF over any date range to bring to your coach. It is produced on your device, and shared only if you choose to send it.

KEPT SAFE IN YOUR OWN iCLOUD
A journal you might lose is a journal you write in differently. Depth Ecology saves a copy to the private area of your own iCloud whenever something changes — you never have to remember to do it — and offers your journal back when you open the app on a new iPhone. It goes to your iCloud, not to us: we run no server, so there is no copy of your writing anywhere we could reach.

NOTHING COLLECTED, NOTHING TRACKED
There is no account to sign in to and nothing for us to hold. There is no analytics, advertising or tracking code in this app of any kind. On the phone itself your entries are protected by iOS, which keeps the app's files encrypted while your device is locked — so it is worth having a passcode set.

SUBSCRIPTION
Depth Ecology is a subscription, and it starts with one week free:
• Monthly — €8.00 per month
• Annual — €80.00 per year

Prices are in euros and may vary by region; your local price is shown before you confirm. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you can manage or cancel it at any time in your Apple ID settings.

If a subscription ends, your journal stays. You keep reading it, searching it and exporting it, and the backup keeps running — we are not willing to let anyone lose a journal over a lapsed subscription. What renewing brings back is writing new entries.

Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
Privacy policy: https://skrapi.github.io/depth-ecology-app/privacy/

A guiding principle runs through the whole app: logging should be quick and almost effortless. Capture the thing in the moment; the meaning can come later.

Depth Ecology accompanies Dr Hélène Smit's Depth Ecology practice.
